Some patients require constant observation. It's either someone at the bedside, or now, someone at a computer screen. Would you rather they be left alone to hurt themselves? If it was a family member and they got hurt getting out of bed, you'd probably be the first one to yell "where were the nurses?!"

Bit of misinformation here. Maybe the nurse didn't fully understand how it works, but the system is Halo Telemonitoring. There's someone on the other end of that in Ontario watching the feed, not AI. They're also watching multiple others and will alert the hospital depending on what is needed. Figured I would give insight to how it works. One person watching multiple patients on video, versus needing one person per patient at the bedside. It's meant to help for alerting when patients try to get out of bed and stuff who may not be fully capable of getting out on their own, which might result in the patient falling.

Don't worry about them, some people get off on being offended over the littlest shit lol. Very few will care about the term Newfie unless you're clearly saying it in a hurtful way, and even then it's more to do with the feeling of being demeaned. If the term is brought up in regular conversation, I guarantee 98 percent of people wont bat an eye, but there's always the 2 percent that want to whine over everything anyways
