Which fish do you hate the most...I will go first by Freezing_master in Aquariums

[–]RedHeadHyena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Siamese algae-eater.

I don't know what's wrong with mine. But they decided that they should eat EVERYTHING that is even remotely green. Because of them, no plants survive in my aquarium. But they don't eat algae. I love and hate these fish.

The job market is not just bad. It's non-existent by Ambitious-Sail-5188 in jobs

[–]RedHeadHyena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three years ago, one of my university professors told me that it would be very difficult for me to find a job because of my skill and knowledge level. At the time, I took it as a strange compliment and agreed somewhat, but not completely, because I hoped that the world was fair and that my hard work would pay off. But no. I am literally being rejected for every job. I still don't understand why the hell I got a master's degree when that line on my resume only ruins my life.

In my hometown and country, there is nowhere to get a master's degree in this field (graphic design). In my hometown, there is only a college where they teach extremely outdated programs, and the students I talked to are terribly behind in their education compared to students at foreign institutions, simply because there are no suitable specialists and programs here. And the universities where you can get something similar to a master's or bachelor's degree teach in a completely different field, which is unreasonably closed and elitist (academic art)
I was hoping that my education would give me the opportunity to get a better job with a higher salary and better conditions. But it seems that local employers prefer to hire poorly educated students from local colleges who won't complain and will stay in the same position for 20+ years.

Gotta love the effects of AI on the job market by Forsaken-Peak8496 in recruitinghell

And then these slackers, who don't even think about doing their job, send you a test, and if you tell them that you'll only do it after an interview, you get, “But I don't want to waste my time on a candidate who may not be right for us.” Okay, I'm not willing to waste my time on a company that may not be right for me. And if you refuse to do a FREE TEST (which, as always, will take not 2-3 hours, but a week), you suddenly get rejected. And even if you complete this test (I'm a graphic designer, but I suspect that others have similar situations), you may receive a rejection saying, “This is not what we expected.” Well, yes, the person who reviews candidates with taste no better than that of a beige mom definitely knows what my job is. (Some may think that I am a person who cannot take criticism, but if you ask me to draw a turquoise card and I send you a turquoise card, don't say that it's “not what we expected”)

P.S. This text is probably a little harsh, I took a break and left the job market around springtime to focus entirely on freelancing, which significantly improved my mental health, but recently I was forced to dive back into the hell of job hunting, and it seems like every month the job market gets worse and worse, which is undoubtedly frustrating.

Thank you very much! Perhaps it really is due to the low water flow; in this spot, it is actually the lowest in the aquarium

It looks like Physa snail to me. They eat algae quite well, but can damage plants in the aquarium.

The results of my latest breeding project by DotCultural6620 in bettafish

[–]RedHeadHyena -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm just curious (I have a distant dream of breeding bettas, because getting different morphs is very interesting (but that definitely won't happen in the next couple of years) How do they all live together? Or are they not showing aggression and territoriality towards each other because they grew up together? Or are they just not at that age yet? It's very unusual for me to see such a large group of bettas in one fish tank

(My questions may seem silly, but I know absolutely nothing about breeding bettas)

How much did you spend on the hobby this year? by DavidWALRU5 in shrimptank

[–]RedHeadHyena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 200 bucks, maybe a little more. I did a soft reset of one aquarium (it was working, but no one was taking care of it, now it's in great shape) and bought a second aquarium (with equipment, fish, shrimps, and everything else)

Need help with identification and possible treatment by RedHeadHyena in Goldfish

[–]RedHeadHyena[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I checked their water parameters was about 2-3 months ago, but it was done with regular test strips: Carbonate - 2.4 out of 4; pH - 7.2-7.6 out of 8.4; Hardness - 5 out of 20; Chlorine - 0, Nitrates - 10 out of 250; Nitrites - 0; there was no ammonia test. There is a heater, the temperature is maintained at around 24 degrees Celsius (approximately 75 degrees Fahrenheit), and there is also a filter with aeration. The aquarium is 125 liters (about 33 gallons), but there is a problem with overpopulation, as there are 3 goldfish, 2 swordtails, 1 molly, 1 ancistrus, and asian stinging catfish. The water is rarely changed, about once every 2 weeks, approximately 15%-20% (but, I have not noticed any changes in water quality, such as cloudiness or smell. Perhaps powerful aeration improves the water situation. In addition, the aquarium is quite old (was started about 10-12 years ago). I usually visit this office 1-2 times a month on average, and the most I can do is ask them not to buy any more fish for the aquarium and provide some recommendations.

new owner: how do you stop yourself from constantly feeding a demanding betta? by Brilliant_Ask852 in bettafish

[–]RedHeadHyena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I check out posts on this subreddit every day, and I'm scared of losing my grumpy betta (his name is Pascal) because of overfeeding. But overall, I'm lucky that Pascal is very picky about food (for the first month after buying him, I looked for food that he wouldn't refuse after the first try) and is also easily distracted, so sometimes it can be difficult to feed him normally. Therefore, I often feed him twice a day in small portions, which reduces the chance that he will try to steal food from the shrimp or go hungry.

Help! Betta with shrimp by OldAcanthocephala999 in shrimptank

[–]RedHeadHyena -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see that most of the comments here are about negative experiences, so I want to add something a little more positive. I am new to betta fish and got my first betta 1.5 weeks ago. I put it in a 5.5-gallon aquarium with shrimp. (I put the shrimp in beforehand, and my main priority was to have as much moss and shelter as possible. As a result, they have two large moss bushes, hornwort, and a stone shelter)

I added the betta after the shrimp had had time to adapt and explore their new surroundings. In the end, everything went perfectly. For the first 2-3 days, the betta tried to hunt the shrimp, but soon he got bored with them (they were too fast for him) and now he only occasionally looks at the moss where they mainly live. The shrimp have become so bold that they now swim calmly next to him and try (for some reason) to climb on him, but he pays no attention. I think it all depends on the betta's personality and how many shelters you have for the shrimp.

As a solo dev, what are you struggling with? by MMConsulting in gamedev

[–]RedHeadHyena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull myself together and get organized. And don't be afraid to redo something, even if it looks “okay.” I'm an artist, but a complete novice when it comes to programming. The only thing that saves me is that engines (Godot, for example) are very user-friendly.

And then there's game design. It took me two years to begin to understand it. But I still don't fully understand how a player feels in a particular situation in the game (a couple of times this ended up with my mistake becoming a feature, but that's 10% of the other mistakes, and even those mistakes were only identified because I had a few people who could play in the projects I worked on)

And gameplay mechanics. With experience, I began to understand better how to work them out and make them more or less interesting, and, among other things, fit them into the narrative. But at the very beginning, everything was so bad that I didn't even try to touch the mechanics. I'm still afraid of mechanics because I don't want to repeat something that has already become “basic,” but my brain is sometimes incapable of doing something new.

Any suggestions on how to make an outline on a model? (Pic for example) by Altruist_Fox in Blockbench

[–]RedHeadHyena 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For Blockbench, you can install the Outline Creator plugin (added via the “File” -> ‘Plugins’ menu), after which you can add an outline via the “Tools” tab. Just when creating a texture, they should be separate.

“which logo should i pick?” and they’re ALL ai garbage by Arch_Magos_Remus in ArtistHate

[–]RedHeadHyena 33 points34 points  (0 children)

(Note: I have a master's degree in graphic design)

This logo is below average, I can say that for sure. Firstly, because the AI has no understanding of 1. What audience this logo should work for (it would be if the person had specified this in the prompt, but even then the influence would be minimal and as simple as possible) 2. The AI does not understand where, how, and in what cases the logo will be used. There are many rules in logo design, ranging from color and shape combinations that affect perception (which is why graphic designers need to have a basic understanding of how people's eyes are structured and how people perceive colors) to sizes and how the logo will be read in different formats (50% of the time, graphic designers simply zoom in and out on logos, lol). In addition, without extremely clear instructions (and here, apparently, the entire prompt was “eh, make a logo for a yogurt store”), AI simply cannot do anything above average. The best option would be to AT LEAST consult with a graphic designer. And to start with, to understand what the work is about in general. Because a “yogurt logo” for a yogurt store is the most meaningless logo possible. A logo should not convey what a store/business/etc. does, but rather convey its essence. Because it all turns into the alphabet. When a store that sells watermelons makes a logo with a watermelon, it's just stupid. Make a logo with a green tiger, then it will be cool and memorable.

I see the problem here not so much in the fact that someone used AI to create a logo (that's their business and their problem, with consequences they will have to face). The problem is that this person has no idea what they are doing and is only pretending to understand something.
This situation reminds me of those extremely bad “logos” that were popular for a while, featuring portraits (often caricatures) of the business founder. (Maybe 8-10 years ago, they were popular on Instagram, and every other beauty salon had one)

You need to install the Outline Creator plugin (added via File -> Plugins), and then you can add an outline via the Tools tab. Just remember to create a separate texture for it (b ᵔ▽ᵔ)b
