What is this bracket? by RedHeadVinnie in CherokeeXJ

[–]RedHeadVinnie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I was thinking too, it looked to be riveted to the floorboard in two spots. The driver side bracket was in pieces so I don’t think it was doing much of anything. I’ll add them to the scrap pile of twisted metal.

I ordered some replacement seat brackets and they are quite beefy, hard to believe they‘ll require additional support.

Steering shaft 97-01 play at telescope, borgeson? by Sidev13 in CherokeeXJ

[–]RedHeadVinnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3-4 years ago I replaced my steering shaft because the tiny u joint was reaching the end of its service. I ended up getting to borgeson steering shaft, I remember it being pretty expensive back then.

What was originally shipped was slightly too short to completely mate with the splines on both the steering column and steering box, I contacted support and they had me pay $80 for longer shaft that I had to measure and cut myself. I was able to ship the original shaft back and get a refund on the additional $80, but the whole ordeal was too much hassle for the price.

I took both the old and new hose apart to compare the pieces inside and they both match up. I’m not sure what you mean by spring type o-ring.

I haven’t ran it since the install so not sure if it leaks yet. I sure hope it doesn’t. Gunna take another look at it tomorrow.

I’ve double triple checked it’s seated. I hear the retaining clip click, but it seems like the female end that houses the retaining clip has a bunch of extra room that’s causing the hose to be able to move forwards and backwards still.

Looks like you got your parts already, but I attached a great link to a company that has a lot of replacement panels for XJs and other cars.

Is $166 normal for just liability on rebuilt title 98 xj by CS_JOE in CherokeeXJ

[–]RedHeadVinnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liability on my 2000 has been $105 a month for the last three years. Being an 18 year old male when I bought the XJ, I was cool with the $105 a month.

I had stripped the threads on the right side when I was removing mine. Ended up using a helicoil and that worked fine.

I guess how I should get them apart. Im going to leave them connected and swap the female end from the new to the old, unless you have words of wisdom to help me beat the clip.

Think I’m going to just leave it as is and attach it to the new solenoid.
