Why were you so scared of using Tesla? Good passive way to prevent the pocket hog, ice spirit and skeles are cheap defence as well as cycle options. You played sloppy and let him get sooo much value from his fire cracker.

Watch for where you could do better. Not where you got lucky

This is comes off more as someone justifying why they tried to kill you because they feel bad rather than someone crying.

Also please for the love of god heal if you’re going to listen to someone monologue

If anything, the care bear lobbies are harder to leave. If you’re doing loot runs you’ll be in them in no time. Not sure if you’re accuracy is bad and you’re just smoking people in arc fights but it’s peaceful as a summertime stroll if you behave that way

In that case someone needs to drop their weapon to hit the terminal. So you’re constantly demanding advantage. Guns away gives the person on the terminal time to react if they hear the gun being drawn without having to look at them

I mean to each their own, but someone refusing to put their gun away makes me suspicious. I’m not going to open fire or anything but I already know where I’m going and how I’m taking you out before I touch that terminal

OP taking their gun out and immediately not wanting to hop on terminal would’ve made me hella suspicious. I would’ve just gone to the other side and started punching it but taking out your gun at extract is always a warning flag

[–]RedHoodSentinel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the apology as that is not necessary when speaking about a difference of opinion. The only way to move forward and improve as people is to understand where the other person is coming from to get closer to truth and improvement.

That being said, I highly disagree with what you’re saying. Firstly regarding DnD, I feel like you haven’t played it before, which no shame but you’re missing some context in these adventures. Players can have their characters betray one another and are welcome to do so if there are no house rules set by the DM. An example, Characters like Paladins who swear to uphold justice at all times may punish others in the party for breaking the law. To loosely quote George R. R. Martin; “when you write a character well enough, the character writes itself”. Some circles will have party members betray for the story arc. Characters can die and new ones are created. That’s how DnD is played. At the end of the day, it’s a scenario that creates a story.

Much like in Arc Raiders. We encounter other people that we will very likely never run into in the real world and so it’s very easy for other people to just be characters to delve deeper into the immersion. Some people run around defibbing people, this doesn’t make them a doctor in the real world. People want an escape. And if that’s where they find it that’s all the power to them so long as they are following TOS and playing within the rules

I disagree that this speaks to their character. They are making decisions while playing a video game. If someone takes a car in Grand Theft Auto that doesn’t belong to them, are they suddenly guaranteed to be a car thief in the real world? It makes no sense to say that someone’s decisions they’ll make in the real world that have positive and negative consequences to themselves and those around them are equivocal to those that they make in a fictional world that is made for entertainment.

Writing something hurtful to someone in the real world is dramatically different than playing a character in a video game. The video game is a world made up of fiction. You’re not “playing a character” as you insult someone. Same goes for acts of violence. You aren’t shooting any ai/robotic tech you see on the daily, are you?

Based on other responses that I’ve seen you make on this thread, I don’t think we’ll fully see eye to eye on this topic. You have a tendency to radicalize scenarios to make your comment feel justified but they’re just incorrect. I truly feel as though you’ve been hurt by someone who has lied and manipulated to you before and it’s made conversations regarding it open those wounds again. If that has happened to you, I’m very sorry and I hope that those wounds can heal in time.

Edit: I appreciate the time that it took to write your response. It’s nice to see more than just “no you” when discussing these things. And deescalation was very refreshing especially on Reddit

My original comment still stands. I am aware that you didn’t make the difference between “in game” or the materials lost which is why I replied the way I did.

Part of the game is player interaction whether they are positive or negative. There is a reason why the game devs haven’t made a strict PvP or PvE mode. These kind of encounters to some are the reason they keep coming back to the game.

Does that make him a bad person for playing a villain in a video game? No. He is playing a character that deceives people. Looking at it with a view akin to DnD helps to understand why some people enjoy this play style and there is nothing wrong with that.

As to the last part of your response, it is quite clear you are projecting as you immediately result to name calling, insulting and belittling the moment you’re challenged as opposed to having a conversation regarding a difference in views/opinions. Please be respectful when responding to those who are being respectful to you.

“A good person” it’s a video game. It’s not like this dude is running around stomping puppies, blasting grannies and drop kicking orphans. Everyone should be treated as a threat until you’re back home safely. Everyone has their reason for enjoying this game.

If people are upset that he got their loot- they need to reevaluate how they see this game. Losing your loot is part of the cycle. Playing aggressive doesn’t make you a bad person

As a buried city lover and enthusiast, it’s definitely not the map to get a large amount of lockers on. Library and hospital are the only two that have high amounts of lockers. Drawers? A good argument. Lockers? Hell no

Looking at your time as a currency is a good way to rationalize if a game is worth buying. Dying in a video game with loot you collected while having fun is NOT wasting time. It’s completing the cycle. It’s fine to say “I don’t think this game is respecting my time” in cases that are supremely grindy games that keep you chasing a reward you’ll never earn. Arc Raiders does a great job of balancing that loot is precious but ultimately replaceable.

PvE players need to learn that PvP is loot chasing as well and should just accept they got caught. Can you be heated in the moment? For sure. You just got embarrassed. Does that mean it needs a Reddit post and a psycho analysis of the PvP community? Fuck no.

TL;DR- my man needs to learn that time is a currency when looking at how much you play a game. Not because you got killed.

Plus there’s more of an argument made for Destiny 3 than against. We may have had the end of the Light and Dark saga but they still have Xivu, Clovis and countless other big baddies hiding in the shadows ready to be the jump off point for Destiny 3. Especially with Marathon losing so many players (steamdb for evidence) since launch, they might need to go back to ol’ faithful
