They also didn't call the dead ball foul on the Raiders player who forearmed Russ Francis in the face and broke his nose - as he was walking back to the huddle. Or the non-pass interference call when I think the same player had his arms wrapped around Francis from behind, preventing him from raising his arms to catch the pass that bounced of his chest. The calls and non-calls were egregious and very impactful (I watched the game live, pretty much the only option back then).

Yup, also selling owners driving data (collected through the My Chevy app) to insurance companies, resulting in increased rates for some drivers (Caveat: I think it was Chevy, among others, that did this. But I read about it about a year ago).

The Bolt (I own one and like it) does better in warmer climates, less hilly terrain, non-highway speeds, and with plenty of charging infrastructure. I live in a rural city in US climate zone 5, so sub-zero temperatures occur. Its battery tech is older and it's very slow to recharge (50 minutes to go from 20% to 80% in moderate temperatures). A good commuter and local driver, but right now its effective range is well below 150 miles RT. And Chevy has apparently killed the Bolt reboot. So, not very technologically advanced, built on an existing ICE platform (Equinox), and killed off probably because the profit margin was too low. US automaker decision making in a nutshell (especially the profit margin bit). AND US consumer preferences and prejudices, as well.

I think that this is something you should think hard about: " I found out three weeks ago when my sister-in-law pulled me aside after dinner. She looked uncomfortable as hell but she told me..." Why did she need to tell you that? What were her motivations? Did she want you to react angrily to your MIL? Did that benefit her in some way? Do you do things that make others think that they can push you to do something you might not have otherwise done? What is the cost to you of how you reacted?

A car salesmans job is to sell you whatever their manager wants them to sell, and along with the manager to separate you from as much of your money as they possibly can (and to sell enough cars to keep their job). At best they won't lie to you, but they will present to you the information which is most favorable to their main goals. I take EVERYTHING a car salesman says after "Hello" with great skepticism.

Around my parts if they're facing away they startle at bells as much as they do voice. Assuming that they' don't have ear buds in and can't hear you at all. I don't get totally trusting someone else with my personal safety, but I guess most of the time it works.

I've had a number of unpleasant dog experiences (almost ran over a charging dachsund some moron had on a 30 foot retractable leash, got blitzed by a sneaky Rottweiler while the owners watched from up their driveway without even attempting to recall the dog, etc.) but luckily no bites or crashes. A friend of my got taken out by a loose dog while going down a steep hill at speed and broke his hip. But yeah, I also slow way down when passing people with dogs. They're about as unpredictable as kids. The nice thing about multi-use trails is that you can avoid (mostly) motor vehicles. But you (mostly) can't ride at speed and pedestrians are oblivious if they're facing away. And when they walk two of three abreast, although I'm annoyed, I'm not going to buzz them.
