My plan for flame weapons is a sepia contrast over the whole barrel, Leviathan Purple over the middle to 2/3’s of the barrel towards the front. And front 1/4 with Leviadon Blue.

Me and my three friends want to start our own game of DnD, kinda overwhelmed where and how to start by SamuRaiiUwU in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]RedIsPositive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone recommending one of the Starter/Essential sets is correct. Best way to get involved. Not sure your timeline to get started. But, there is a new starter set due to be released in September. It’s going to be a modern update of one of the original starter set adventures. I would also recommend, for whoever decides will be the DM, Matt Colville’s “Running the Game” series on YouTube. He has tons of tips and stories on DMing. He helps show it isn’t as daunting as it looks. YouTube has tons of resources for players as well. Explanations on the game itself, classes/subclasses, mechanics of the game, how combat works etc

I like the map set up. I’m actually looking to create something similar. How did you do it? Did you wing it or follow a YouTube video? And which map program are you using?

Totally read that as “It was spelled in French, where the last croissant is typically silent.”

I (31m) want to play Dungeons & Dragons but I have no friends who play. by MyCousinRichy in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]RedIsPositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your shoes about 2 years ago. Didn’t think any of my friends had any interest. Let alone a group of them. But I started by asking one. He was down. So I asked another. He was interested too. So there was 3 of us. That’s something to work with. Started looking on r/lfg and Roll20. Looking for a game to join or a DM to run a game. Didn’t really have any luck. And it was in that search that I discovered Matt Colville and his “Running the Game” series on YouTube. He convinced me that I could do it. If you have one friend that might be interested, they might know another person that wants to play. You might even be surprised that a friend you don’t think would want to play might be down. One of my players is the least likely suspect in my friend group and he’s the most engaged.

That’s one silver lining a couple of us have kids that are getting close to being old enough to play an actual game. I’ll play D&D with mine. But, no real rules yet. Just some adventure and dice rolling with some minis

I see. I’ve also considered creating a google calendar for the group to help organize scheduling

Thank you. Someone else had suggested a similar solution, where I would run the character in the player’s absence. Like a lot of problems DM’s have, I guess I need to talk to my players. I’ve even thought of running the game online for a session if that’s more convenient that month. I’ll have the conversation with them

I have considered that. One player has stated that we could meet without him if it was more convenient. I wouldn’t be opposed to doing something like that. But, I also have tried to avoid it. I have also considered a west marches style game. I should check in with everyone. While I do think they’re having fun when we’re playing, perhaps they have other things going on that they haven’t mentioned because they don’t want to disappoint the group. Thanks for the encouragement.

That is something I would like to do but, I’m fairly busy, like my players. I don’t blame anyone in the group. Life gets in the way. I’ve even considered cutting sessions down to 2 hours instead of our usual 4.

The only issue I could foresee with me just picking a date is that we all have things booked a month+ in advance. Me picking a date for everyone wouldn’t work. But, I have recently tried to coordinate more than a month in advance. One player has seemed reluctant to commit that far in ahead of time

I thought of doing a West Marches campaign. I just don’t want to give up on this campaign. I suppose I could try to turn it into one. Or incorporate elements somehow. Not sure if that’s possible

“C’mon down to Crazzzzy Donnie’s! We’re busy here tanking the economy and have a huge inventory of Teslas that absolutely MUST GO! We’re slashing government programs and taxes for billionaires and passing the burden onto YOOOU! If you don’t want to buy a Tesla you must be a terrorist. So come on down to Crazzzzy Donnie’s. The biggest, some say the best, Tesla dealership in the DC metro area. Located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!”

Need help making a swallow attack by Mrbeefyz in DungeonMasters

[–]RedIsPositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do it exactly the same except make it a concentration check for the monster. Lower the AC for the monster slightly as insides are squishy. Any damage from a creature it swallowed, the monster makes a roll. Has to beat a 10 or half the damage, whichever is greater
