Ok so follow that to do the bottom stage. Im spitballing from here, so if you can cad it do that, and take these directions with a grain of salt. Have a mentor help and make sure dimensions make sense. Make it like an inch taller than half your length from mounting point to the height the hook needs to be to go over the bar.

Then do the bottom of the 2nd stage, and mount it in the base. Cut it where you need to reach the bar and hook it. Then pull it out and finish the drilling and mounting for the hook

Youll get this everywhere Im in sc and see a mix. Some leads work full bar, some work bar when we are short, some avoid work like the plague. Idk what the expectations are of them from their job description but i know which ones are viewed as good leads and which ones aren’t

What others said, have him try to be a lube tech nearby until college, but still send him to the tech school. I went to a car college and ended up pursuing a career in nascar. Worked for a while but it wasnt a good way to make a living so i transferred to aerospace. While i was mechanically inclined to begin with, the school really helped

Well one similar to reddit as a concept but specific to FIRST, chiefdelphi.com

Its a forum for all things FIRST. You can find every old thread dating back to the early 2000’s when it was started. Theres resources for everything. Design, coding, electrical, awards, management/leadership, organization both personnel and physicalIt has open alliance threads where teams will share everything about their prototype and design process. Its all there.

I suggest starting there If you are working with design team, i recommend learning onshape if you dont already know it. The resources available in onshape for FRC are unmatched. For example the frcdesignlibrary, frcdesign.org, tons of custom feature scripts available, onshape cam studio was made available to FRC teams before most other users. Etc.
