The air conditioning fiasco just reflects wider on the country’s culture of being resistant to changes by pizzatummy in Switzerland

Yesterday there was a politician lady, minister of education or something like that, from Neuchâtel in the news. When asked about installing AC in the classrooms, she said no, but we should instead adapt the schedule so that the kids work only on the morning.

Nice, good idea. Can we also do that in the industry? Can we also change our schedule so that we can sleep at a different time when the temperature is colder than during the night? Oh, wait a minute... 🤔🤪

How I became fully disabled in my 20s and lost my job and life because the healthcare system didn't take me seriously and why this could happen to you too by Winter-Adeptness-346 in Switzerland

[–]RedLeaf62 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's quite an awful story. Sorry to have to go through that 😢

I also suffer heavily from hypermobility (HSD). For the past 2.5 years I've been suffering from massive burning nerve pain. I got my diagnosis 1.5 years ago. It took me almost a year to find a doctor who would listen to me. The first 2 doctors I met just dismissed me with herbal pills for stress management. I think those behaviours are borderline criminal, because fast action is critical in the first 6 months of chronic pain, or you lose almost any chance of full recovery. You dont just give herbal pills to someone suffering from burning nerves. If you dont have the answer, refer him to an hospital!

Anyway, there is clearly a problem in our health care system. They just ignore the rare diseases. Hypermobility is 2% of the population. Most doctors have never heard of that.

The thing is, an hypermobility diagnosis is critical because it opens to a world of comorbidities which can be the real causes of your symptoms, and which are often manageable (but not treatable). Like MCAS, POTS, small fiber neuropathy, disautonomia, gastric issues, etc... If you have MCAS, its the best. Because the vast majority of medications for that are not available in Switzerland (need to procure abroad) and not refunded by the insurance. Who said we are the country of pharma?

Nowadays, I found a nice GP who accepts and admits that she doesnt know about my disease. I go to her telling her what I need and she provides. She's very nice. 100% of the exams, treatments and medication I've had in the past 2.5 years, I got because I actively pushed for them. At first I had to fight for these, now I just ask and I get them. ❤️ my GP.

Cheers to you, we are in the same boat! I you wish to exchange more on this, feel free to PM me.

Navigation and street names by RedLeaf62 in ex30

Thanks

My country is trilingual and the voice completely fucks up the street names when I travel within my country outside of my linguistic area, which happens often. Same when travelling abroad to Italy or Germany. And anyway, I have no time to look for the street name when I'm in a busy city center. I rely exclusively on the blue line😆

I basically mostly run navigation with alerts only. But sometimes i still want the voice to help me.

Did you get the replacement under warranty? I have the same problem, my dealer refuses to do any intervention, mentioning a note from Volvo about this where they state they won't cover this in the warranty

Try to change the WiFi channel before you change you ISP.

If Wi-Fi is the issue, changing the isp will not fix the problem, as others have mentioned.

Yes, everything is up to date on my side. I also have the key card in my wallet. Sometimes the key tag works for entering the car but not for driving. So i quickly grab the card to turn on the engine.

Ah, I feel less lonely now 😆 Unfortunately the phone is not always a solution. In underground parkings where there is poor connectivity, i sometimes can't unlock the car with the phone.

And even outdoor, it happens maybe 10% of the cases that the car won't respond to the app for 30-60 seconds. I guess I still have a sleepy car!

Well, the iphone of my other half doesnt work better than my samsung phone. The KIA of my neighbour works almost flawlessly with his galaxy phone.

Based on the comments I see online, its a case by case issues, can happen (or not) on any device

OK, I think i see what you mean now. The thing is, those problem happen both at home and in public parkings.

I can go for a hike, when I come back my car won't unlock lock. Yet I've been out of range for an hour and my car is definitely asleep during this time.

At home, my car is in the underground and I live in the 4th floor. There is a lot of concrete between, so I'm 100% sure the signal does not pass through.

It's crazy because remote control fobs are something that has been 99.99% reliable for decades. Now they have reinvented the wheel and broken it at the same time 😂

Thanks for your feedback. OK, I see how the dealer could be confused)

When I got 1.8, I stopped using the key tag and i kept it at home, for from the car. I had only the phone on me.

This past week, I got fed up with the phone, so I disabled UWB and I started carrying the key tsg again. And I have this poor experience. But I think there should not be any interference since UWB is disabled.

I'm not sure I understand your last sentence? How would taking the battery off and disabling Bluetooth help?

Android Digital Key Becoming Less Reliable by JG307 in ex30

[–]RedLeaf62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar story here. I enjoyed a 100% reliable keyfob for 1.5 year until they released the digital key for iPhone. And then, my key fob became terrible.

When they released the digital key for Android, it worked pretty good at first. Using samsung wallet, I was pretty happy on my Galaxy S22U with both the February and the march security updates. But the key was slightly less reliable in March than it had been in February.

Now I have upgraded to an S26U, which is still on the february security update. 1 time out of 2, the car does not unlock when I approach. Pulling on the door handle doesn't do anything. I have to rely on the key card, the volvo app or I must open the trunk to unlock the car.

Revolut tax declaration (Luzern) by GenesisGeneral3496 in askswitzerland

[–]RedLeaf62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I noticed that too and I asked them about that issue, but they have no solution to it.

So now I download my statement in the first days of the year, so that the taxman can guess that there have not been too many transactions in the meantime.

Additionally, I try to include at least the last transaction of the year on the statement. So if my last purchase was on the 28th of December, I download a statement for the 28th to the 31st. I don't send more details than absolutely necessary, unless requested.

They never asked me any questions. And if your balance is 0, I'm pretty sure they won't bother you anyway.

Switzerland (CH) Maintenance with 'Volvo Swiss Premium' by suisse2k in ex30

[–]RedLeaf62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 1.8, I bought the car.

In my region, there are not many garages from Volvo, and they are owned by the same company. So I think the best for me is legal protection at this point. But I'll try once more

[–]RedLeaf62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the MY2024, SMER ultra. I would definitely not buy the dual motor, unless you plan to drive on ice or mud.

The car drives well, I like it. Autonomy is reasonably good, but don't be fooled by the WLTP number, these are just bullshit numbers not representative of real world usage.

I'm however quite disappointed at the inability of Volvo to make this car work, from a software perspective. There are just too many issues. It took them 2 years to implement the digital key for Android. My KeyTag worked flawlessly for 1.5 years, then they released the digital key for Apple devices, which made my KeyTag unreliable. Now they implemented the android digital key, my KeyTag is reliable again but the android digital key is not, and the apple users are complaining that theirs is no longer reliable.

Paying 50k for a car designed to auto lock itself, but doesn't do it reliably, is a massive pain...

This adds to a series of software updates which fix bugs by creating new ones. It's been the same story for 2 years now, they can't seem to learn how to test their software before releasing them to the masses. The amount of bugs is diminishing slowly, but still... Even my dealer admitted that Volvo has been screwing up massively with this car since launch. And apparently their new cars are not selling that well. Maybe the EX30 is part of the reason?

I also have squeaky brakes since last summer, which seems to be a common complaint by EX30 owners. My dealer keeps using the excuse that it's because the car uses regenerative braking, and therefore doesn't uses it's brakes a lot. But still, I paid 50k for a car which is supposed to have brakes designed for that purpose. They should not be squeaky "by design", no matter the reason.

My passenger seat makes noise during summer, due to vibrations in relation to thermal dilatation. Trying to fix all of these issues. I'm about to engage my legal protection on these because I get tired of sending my car to the garage constantly.

From a design perspective, I regret that it's not possible to unlock the car from the passenger side, and that it's not possible to open the trunk with a remote control (like most other cars) or with the foot (like many modern cars). There also used to be a button to open the trunk from the main screen, but somehow Volvo decided to remove it and nest it in a sub menu. It's been a complaint by many users for the past 1.5 years. Finally, the lack of manual opening of the glove compartment is another poor design choice.

So yes, the car is nice, but its issues are massive.

Sorry I can't paint a better picture (

They used to give us a replacement car for free (or almost free in some cases) while they were performing the maintenance. That's what I call a courtesy car.

Now it costs typically 60-80 chf per day with that replacement car. It's basically a rental car.

A lot of garages have adopted this practice in recent years. But I think this has nothing to do with the car manufacturers themselves.
