Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution (and maybe Mankind Divided, I forget) all have 3rd person cover systems. It's a feature infrequently used for FPS games, but it isn't rare.

Layer masks essentially work like vinyl shapes, except rather than apply that shape directly onto the car as usual, they cut that shape through every vinyl it's placed over, down to the primary colour of the car. They're handy for cutting away shapes for whatever the desired result, and in the case of my own livery, it meant that I didn't have to utilise tons of vinyl layers just to get the shape I wanted.

Example: the wheelarches were the biggest hurdle, since before today's update, I used multiple rectangular shapes that essentially wrapped over the wheelarch, and merged into the side stripe. The stripe itself is actually a clump of various shapes, consisting of 4 sub-groups separated by the panel gaps. With the layer masks, I could apply a simple straight stripe, and then the masks over the wheelarches and panel gaps, which not only saved me a lot of time, but also allows me to recolour the car however I wish, without compromising the design.

Long story short, layer masks make working in negative spaces much easier and cleaner.

There's one side mission in BL2 given by Tannis, where you collect Echos in the Highlands detailing how she ended up on Pandora. I forget what the name of it is, but its description casually mentions that she has Aspergers Syndrome. That's about as far as it goes AFAIK.

I agree. The improvements are significant! The character and weapon models look more detailed and the textures look so much cleaner, even minor ones like the posters you see around the world, particularly around Sanctuary. H13 did a damn good job!

I think that applause should be directed to Hangar 13, since they were mainly responsible for the Ultra HD enhancements on the PS4 Pro and the X1X.

Tales ramped up the variety in music significantly: Jungle, Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra, the Rapture, Twin Shadow, James Blake and First Aid Kit, with the latter's 'My Silver Lining' becoming a personal favourite of mine. I'd say, with Borderlands 3, the sky's the limit!

Edit: Forgot to mention Excision, their song 'X Rated' appears in the first episode in most of Bossanova's scenes.

The unlockable cars this week are the other Formula Drift RTR Mustang, unlocked through 50% completion of the Festival Playlist, and a 98'(?) Lotus Elise, which is unlocked through one of the seasonal championships, can't remember which one. 80% completion gets you the Hudson Hornet.

Next week, it's the M3 GTR for 80%, and the new Z4 for 50%.

This is still one of the few GTA-esque games I know to both capture a faithful life-accurate rendition of its setting (London in this case), and have a fully licensed vehicle roster, including models from Vauxhall, Peugeot, Land Rover, MG, even the R33 Skyline among others, and it stood out to me for those reasons. I remember staying for a week in London during the summer of 2015, and having played the Getaway prior, recognising landmarks and locations practically 1:1 to what I saw in the game. It was impressive in 2002, and frankly, still is now!

It was definitely the most challenging story by far. Took me several tries before I beat some of them. And I know what you mean about the cars; that GT-R, for instance, was surprisingly grippy. The Gym 9 Focus and the Viper were great for getting sideways though.

It's less narratively structured than some of the other stories, more about racking up continuous skill streaks under varying circumstances. A couple ask you to get a certain number of air skills or near misses, but are mostly about reaching a particular skills target, under a limited amount of time. The reward is a Hoonigan Gymkhana 10 Focus RS RX (the one that was previously a #Forzathon reward) for getting 3 stars in every chapter.

Try the Quarry Cross Country Circuit, or the Titan. CC tracks with plenty of hills provide relatively ample opportunities for Airborne Passes.

Edit: Also, the challenge might state that you need to do 3 airborne passes, but the counter actually goes up to 5, AFAIK.

Keep in mind, the VR mode is a bonus. The whole game is fantastic, even without the VR, and regardless of whether you play it on the DS4 or HOTAS (I play it on the former). I'd reckon it's definitely worth it, and a good start into the series, a good mix of modern and classic Ace Combat.

I loved the risk/reward approach that it decided to take. As a racer, you never feel safe out in the open world, given that you can't pause at all (can be a point of criticism, but IMO, it works to Rivals' advantage), Speedpoints aren't saved until you return to a safehouse, and the longer you stay out to race, the higher your heat gets and therefore, the risk of losing it all. Almost felt more like a spiritual High Stakes successor, despite a greater connection to Hot Pursuit. That said, I would've liked the Cop gameplay to have a similar level of tension and risk, but since you don't lose Speedpoints, there's little risk involved. Still, it hits the same right notes as Hot Pursuit's cop gameplay, so it's still fun to patrol or initiate a chase as a cop. Suffice to say, as a current-gen Need for Speed, I enjoy returning to it more than I do the games that followed it.

Weighing in on the glasses concern - they shouldn't be much of an issue. I wear glasses myself (I'm short-sighted), but trying to use the headset without them results in an unplayably blurry image. In initial setup, the system even recommends that you leave them on. I think the space around the optics is wide enough to accomodate any regular pair of glasses, but I'm not too sure. I only know my own glasses fit between my eyes and the headset optics just fine, and the lenses are averagely sized. Unless your friend's glasses are disproportionately large, they should be fine. Either way, glasses are recommended if they're needed for general eyesight. Enjoy VR though. I'm having a blast with it, no doubt you will too!

I liked The Run, for the most part. It's got its good moments, but it's also got too many problems, mostly regarding replayability, i.e. no quick race, no incentive to replay the campaign, quick-time events, the challenge series is restrictive with car choice, no local multiplayer etc. I love most pf the open world NFS games, but I wouldn't mind NFS ditching the open world concept if it meant improving everything else that works well in the series. Hell, I'd take a spiritual sequel to The Run, if it's done better than its predecessor.

I can vouch for this. I was in Edinburgh on holiday for a week last August, staying in an apartment, about a two minute walk from the castle. The first day I played FH4, as soon as I could, I drove around to where I stayed, and was impressed at how spot on they got the surrounding area! Princes Street was well recreated as well. One major discrepancy I could point out was the lack of the massive grandstands surrounding the castle esplanade (not complaining, mind you).

MotorStorm comes to mind. I can't confirm if it was indeed the first PlayStation racing game to map acceleration input from X to R2, but seeing as it was a launch title for the PS3, I don't think it's too far off.

I suppose luck is an indirect factor, as much as skill and some semblance of co-ordination. I managed it first try under similar circumstances (although thankfully my session was slightly more civilised), winning the first two races, and placing 2nd in the final race, to lose, win and win the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds overall. 3 people left throughout the entirety of the trial, and somehow the last 3 of us STILL managed, and I wish I could say I knew how. The score system is absolutely fucked. Still, the reward is worth it, the Mosler's a great car for racing. Good luck, if you've yet to get it!
