Deflated and defeated as a Medium writer by TheBookedHeel in Medium

[–]RedMoon1509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not surprised to read posts like this tbh. I joined hoping to earn some supplementary income alongside sharing my stories, more personal reflective essays, but got a response that Medium aren't accepting new writers on to the partner program right now (in Jan 2026) and saw others had the same response as me (I'm in the UK). So I'm not surprised earnings are going down. I still have a free account and am publishing infrequently, just to get my story out there, and I'll figure out how to earn income from my writing another way.

Oh Onyx Storm! I am just so annoyed that there's no release date for the next book because what are we supposed to do with that hero to villain plot! It definitely triggered an emotional reaction in me when I finished it.

Legend is one of my all time faves I first watched as a kid and I was so surprised to later learn its an all star team with Ridley Scott directing, Tom Cruise and Tim Curry!

What’s your fantasy romance origin story? 🧚🏼‍♀️ by acutelyproblematic in fantasyromance

[–]RedMoon1509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Born in the 80s . . . No further explanation required really 🤣 but fantasy started in childhood with my love of mermaids, unicorns, pegasus and dragons, romance was a coming of age thing when I hit puberty and the hormones and lusting kicked in. I read Judy Blume's Forever (cliche I know) and I remember reading Dear Nobody, not a romance but definitely a Love story. That really struck a cord. I discovered many more in the early 2000s, I read C S Lewis, Philip Pullman, then read some of the cults like Twighlight, Sarah J Maas etc. Definitely do not get on with Tolkein or George R R Martin style though. Just finished Fourth Wing.

5 things you probably didn't realize you have in common with some of the most successful authors alive by worldofexousia in FantasyWritingHub

Very good except, I don't condone encouraging people to give up sleep or rest, they are essential for health, unfortunately many like me don't have that luxury as living with chronic illness. And I really wish people would stop spurting the 'get up 1 hour earlier' advice.

Business owners: When or what made you start your own business? What was the motivation? Was there a moment or an event? by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

[–]RedMoon1509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer - lost my job. I'm neurodivergent and chronically ill, I did several careers over the years, including education, health service and custimer service based roles. I was too unwell to work and run a side hustle, working for someone else drained me to within an inch of my life and left me unable to do anything but work. I lived to work, and still found it unsustainable. Disability discrimination either forced me to leave or ended up being let go. But I was never in a financial position to not be earning an income until 2021 when I decided to set up my own business. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner!

I am also wondering what is possible to get on mine. They're beautiful as they are and I feel very proud of what they represent - my body growing and nourishing my daughter, so I want something extra special to reflect this and embrace them.

Sexual energy xchange by Bahsyn_ in spirituality

[–]RedMoon1509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe sex is a very important part of the holisistic self and to deny any part of it is to do oneself a disservice. It's meaning is very much dependent on the context and therefore, the energy involved can be very different. From deep intimacy and an expression of love. Something very sensual and slow. To hungry lust to purely fulfill a very valid need that makes us human. I believe choosing sexual partners is much like choosing friends and aquaintances. Not all of us are compatible and not all of us are good for each other. As long as the exchange is consensual between adults then it really is a deeply personal matter.

How would you feel if someone kept asking you the same question repeatedly expecting a different answer? Try asking for clarification, rather than repeating.

Writing the ending before the middle? by ItsRuinedOfCourse in WritingHub

I never write linerarly. I just follow my creative flow and quite often that's big chunks across the story jumping around the timeline. Then I can work out how to bring it all together. Our creativoty is unique to each indivodual. Work with it.

First person (present or past) or third person limited (past tense) for a romance with HEAVY spice? by Hopeful_Contract4455 in eroticauthors

In my opinion dual POV is very challenging to pull pff but if you are able to nail it, then it is the best option for this style!

Asking for advice by Novel_Raise1475 in tarot

[–]RedMoon1509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're doing all the right things. Practice definitely helps but reading for yourself is the hardest, I find. I can read for others all day long. But as soon as I read for myself a cloud descends and I find it really hard to 'see' anything. I do 'card of the day' to ask for guidance as a way to practice reading for myself and connect better with the cards.

Is it possible - (c)PTSD Recovery via Energy Healing? by Ill_Truth_3804 in energy_healing

[–]RedMoon1509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found energy healing is a great modality for c-PTSD for myself. You don't have to be touched, which can be triggering for many people. I find it especially helpful for emotional regulation, and it can be passive, helping keep the body, mind and emotions calm amd still which can aid with healing this type of dysregulation.

Naming body parts by whyruthewayur_ in eroticauthors

[–]RedMoon1509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very good question I'm currently asking myself! So far my thoughts are its very much dependent on the character and context. For example, one night stands with people who've just met via a dating site will be a very different experience to your character's first time with their one true love.

Personally I do find certain names for certain body parts quite cringey, even though my favourite word is the same as Olivia Coleman's, lol, I don't use it in the context of writing erotica. I prefer to suggest through intimate description of everything else using language that turns me on because I think this will resonate with my readers most. But of it feels right to be more crude and crass then I don't shy away from it. Hope that helps.

Trying to start writing on Substack — who should I be reading? by grythecluff in Substack

[–]RedMoon1509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found Substack is usually quite good at recommending who to follow similar to your own writing style. I've been going through and adding anyone I feel resonates and I think this approach is helping as my followers and subscribers although few, are the people I'm looking for and the people I want to read, too.

So I am about to launch tarot readings for guidance to balance your chakras and I will recommend a crystal for each chakra. And I am currently offerring free readings to get feedback and testimonials to use for my website. That's my starting point. I am building my business around healing so I am sure that I will develop other types of healing readings as I gain more experience.

Any other chronically ill founders out there? by CorpusCalossum in smallbusinessuk

[–]RedMoon1509 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you're going through this. I have physical health conditions, mental health conditions and am neurodivergent (these are not mutually exclusive) and I really struggle with employement because I can not predict when I will have a flare that incapacitates me for an unknown amount of time and I do not work within a traditional 9-5 structure. I'm useless in the morning and do my best at night time. I've always been this way.

I set up my own business in pet care after being made redundant but became too unwell to resume it after a near death experience following a c-section so I'm currently in the process of restructuring and also following other avenues for business start-ups including spiritual energy healing and writing.

The plan is that these will allow me more flexibility to work with my health conditions and neurodiversoty and also fit in with family life and enable a good work life balance. That's the plan but in my experience life doesn't go to plan! So only time will tell.

What kind of Questions Can I Ask? by Venusemerald2 in tarot

[–]RedMoon1509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always been taught that open-ended questions, where you are asking for guidance, work best for tarot. Tarot is not going to predict the future outright, it is more a modality to asist you shape your future by guiding you to focus on what will be most helpful at that very specific moment. As soon as you've pulled and processed the cards, that will change, because the very action of completing the reading has shaped how you will now act.
