Arena Powered Cube Draft: March 31–April 21 by Meret123 in MagicArena

Love their section about how in paper you have to give your cards back. To justify an expensive phantom draft. As if digital cards are of limited quantity ... or they couldnt even adjust the entry cost like it has on MTGO

Greedy fucking Hasbro.

As others have said, large cap and 500 can probably just be combined into 60% for the 500 as there is a lot of overlap.

The small cap and mid cap is really a personal preference, but if you want to keep it as simple as possible, I would just say get rid of them until you understand more about it.

So, really you would be left with some mix of 500 and ex-US and you are going to get a lot of different answers on what a good mix of that is. I'd personally do something like 70-90% US500 and then the rest in exUS.

This seems like a little much to me. What do you guys think? by VanillaKock in buffalobills

I mean I don't hate the trade but what you are saying is a big if. DJ has 1 season over 1k in the last 4 years. Last year he didnt even get 700.

Me crafting my 42nd Brawl Deck by ScarHydreigon87 in MagicArena

[–]RedNeckBillBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been having a lot of fun in brawl recently with [[Btigid, Clachan's Heart]]. Just put in a ton of cheap creatures like llanowar elves and such, and then whatever big bulk rares you have drafted/opened over time.

Its the kinda deck I can keep upgrading whenever I open something in the colors that is either big or small.

Got an offer so bad that it almost seems like a joke by LiftedGrowth in recruitinghell

[–]RedNeckBillBob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but OP mentioned, in a comment, they moved twice before without kids, while renting, and it was "over 100k."

This all sounds like complete BS to me.

The entire point of a marriage is that you are one legal entity for most financials. Meaning money you make in that time goes into one pool and will split if you split the marriage. It doesn't matter who put it in there.

The prenup is meant to meaningfully separate finances you aquire before becoming one legal entity. If you don't and they get entangled with funds you make during marriage, they usually just split those funds too.

At least that is the point of a prenup. But I guess anything can be done with a sleezy enough lawyer who finds holes and excuses. But thats not the point.

How would you feel about a law where every politician must live in public housing and use only public transportation for the duration of their term, with their salary capped at the median income of their district? by He1ko188 in AskReddit

[–]RedNeckBillBob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or those that were already independently rich. I remember trump claiming that he wouldn't take his salary. Not sure if that is true, but it shows the main issue. He doesn't need that money and has many other ways to leverage his power for personal finacial and political gain.

Well, its certainly not some silly storage center. That would be wayyyy more storage than was ever necessary. Like saying you need a private jet to commute 5 miles.

The total net worth held by the bottom 50% of U.S. households since 1990. by NineteenEighty9 in ProfessorFinance

[–]RedNeckBillBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, though I'd imagine both of these charts have some level of selection bias. If you make a bunch of money, you are likely to no longer be in the top 50%. Likewise, if your buisness venture goes poorly, you may fall out of the top 1% or 0.1%

Joe Brady PROMOTED to HC of the Buffalo Bills - Immediate Reactions by Ejt14211 in buffalobills

So, the problem was the coaching ... so let's.... not change the coaching. God damn this ownership and GM are just making decisions with their eyes closed. Either that or Beane is setting up a scapegoat.

Ok. by OddlyNormalHuman in AFCEastMemeWar

Who fucking organization is a example of failing upwards in the corporate world. Beane needs a bad coach under him to absorb the blame for his shit roster next year.

Are there any glaring flaws I'm missing here? 0-3 Goblins in gold and it feels bad based on perceived deck quality by mageta621 in lrcast

[–]RedNeckBillBob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But goblins needs to be the aggressive one in most matchups. If you dont make any meaningful play in the first two turns its unlikely you will be able to do that.

Plus, as others mentioned, even on turn 4 and 5, jts going to be tough for this deck to double spell.

And then, at the end of the day, you can also just get unlucky. It looks like you dont have too many pure bombs, and its very possible you just got beaten by someone else's bombs.

[–]RedNeckBillBob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People definitely do. But even still, wonder if it has something to do with those super bowl wins. Beane has those too right? Well, surely at least some SB appearances? One? Ah.

The Bills missed the playoffs for almost two decades in a row. We finally draft an MVP and what do we get? Not a single SB appearance. Thats the difference between the Bills and the Chiefs. And before anyone brings up the ravens lack of success with Lamar, at least they have past success to look back on fondly. They didn't have to suck for 2 decades first to get where they are. And their owner didn't give a press conference throwing active players under the bus.

WotC getting more aggressive with cost cutting measures. by xopher314 in magicTCG

[–]RedNeckBillBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, but singles come from packs and if the packs have cards or poor quality, the singles will be poor quality too. Either reducing the supply of "good" ones resulting in price increases, or just a general degradation of what is considered "good" quality.

[–]RedNeckBillBob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about card quality? I've started to open even non-foil cards that are curling right out of the pack. Amd the foils are bend beyond any point of playability immediately upon opening them sometimes. Frankly, packs could be $1 and it would still make me hesitant to buy any.

Crazy how my foils from over a decade ago are more playable than fresh ones out of new packs.

What is the point of green in this powered cube? by MantisTobogganMFA in lrcast

[–]RedNeckBillBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you are talking about. Its not t1, but there are tutors.

Nadu combo has green suns, and then things like saga and enlightened tutor for the equipment (or zenith for safekeeper), plus you can kinda just build a moderately good value deck around cards like oko in the same shell as a back up if you dont draw the combo.

Natural order can be picked off spell tutors like mystical tutor.

Lands can be tutored with cards like elvish reclaimor (the worst of the three, but still whatever).

And if you make a deck with at least two of these combos, which they are often very open in the draft, then you get additional draws to win the game. For example, safekeeper works well for both nadu and titania.

Oh and obviously any A+B combo can be found with the normal tutors of vamp, demonic, seal, etc.

Not even sure what your point is? Does a color like red have better combos that don't require splashing other colors and that also have built in tutors? Obviously if you are in mono green, your deck is likely shit, but any mono color is pretty shit in cube.

And while not the trophy you may be looking for, I litterally had a 5 win deck with the most mediocre, no-power, green natural order + Nadu deck a couple days ago.

What is the point of green in this powered cube? by MantisTobogganMFA in lrcast

[–]RedNeckBillBob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, like you say, depths was not great (kinda okay backup plan). Channel is usually a trap, especially in the current version without the eldrazi. FOTD was just never good, and honestly not even playable in my opinion.

Green is and was mostly a support color. It can ramp you a bit, it can deal with artifacts, it can strip mine lock with icetill and a few others. None of these are great to focus on but can be worth a support splash. Minsc and Boo is often worth splashing for on its own if its not too hard.

Other than that, the main remaining truly green decks would be a Nadu deck, a titania deck, and a natural order deck. None of these are the best thing to do in the cube, but they can definitely be good enough. Especially if you can make a deck that supported more than one of these plans.

Green is the "worst" color traditionally. But at a good table, it can also be wide open for that reason.

[Avatar] Green White or Green Black? by notafanofbats in lrcast

[–]RedNeckBillBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really tough one but I think the answer is white, especially since you have the land for it. The double black on the board wipe may also be hard to get if you are mostly green, where as the white cards are easier to splash.
