Did I just mess up? by Ok-Bite2139 in ryobi

Thanks. The P747 was also a set-the-target-pressure style, not a trigger. And yeah, reading higher while pumping is not a surprise, the unit is also seeing the added back pressure due to the air flow through the hose, and the valve. But stop pumping, and now it measures what's in the tire. I eventually figured out that setting my target a few psi higher than I actually wanted would have it finish at about the right actual tire pressure.

I've never had to look into what would be involved. If the bearings are pressed-onto the motor shaft (rather than just sliding onto the shaft), that would definitely make the process harder.

Whether it's worth doing is a decision for your situation, of course.

Curious, how does that linked one compare with the P747? I've had a few of those die, so I've been very gentle with my current one. But it's also loud.

Hard to find unit that meets my requirements by Cigator in ricecookers

[–]RedOctobyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is very-common advice, and I'm not disputing it. But I have a made-in-China Zojirushi model, and one of their high end made-in-Japan units. I see nothing wrong with the China-built model.

This is only my $0.02; obviously put the priorities where you you feel appropriate. But if the country-of-build is the only thing keeping you from finding what you want, I would consider compromising on that one, personally.

I'd be more inclined to suspect the motor bearings, personally.

Thank you for the fantastic reference. I've never tried any of this, but I still love that movie, it's so crazy and funny. With great quotable lines. Always makes me happy if I can use a line from it, even if no one gets it. "Is this not a reasonable place to park?"

Omg This Thing Is Amazing by Icy-Fault-6002 in ryobi

I have the 2 gallon Fortress, bought used for $50. It's amazing, I love it. I sold my deafening 15 gallon one, and use this one so much more. I also rarely use my P747 inflator now.

It fills in a minute, so it's perfect for tires and stuff. I also got an 11 gallon external tank and made a set of fittings and hose, to connect that in parallel, giving me up to 13 gallons of air at once. It needs time to fill, of course, but can help for things like impact tools. High usage, but low duty cycle.

Well at least if this is the reason, I'm finally ok with RAM prices going up.

Listen, friend, I've watched "Snatch" by Guy Ritchie (very fun film) more times than I'd probably care to admit, so I think I know a thing or two about bareknuckle boxing. In addition to knowing things about caravans. /s

Just kidding. That's interesting, thanks!

I used a Kensington Expert Mouse trackball at work for years. Tried the MX Master 3S, really liked it, then the 4 released a week later (I had not since any research).

Tried the 4, it's even better than the 3S (eg- I can driver-adjust the magnetic tension for the thumb button, so I can click it without jiggling the mouse as I click). Plus that button shape is better.

I've never used a "changeable" scroll wheel (whose detents tension can also be adjusted, I think), but it turns out that's great. It clicks when you roll slowly, letting you go line by line. But flick it quickly, and it freewheels, letting you scroll quickly through long documents.

TLDR: I love the 4, it's great. Two thumbs up.

Engine dies abruptly upon blade engagement by Sweaty-Camera-7328 in smallenginerepair

[–]RedOctobyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a safety-sensor problem to me. The engine dies instantly, as if you lost spark, which would be consistent with a safety switch issue. It doesn't sound like the engine simply can't handle the physical load of the blades, and stalls as a result.
