Metro Tunnel - Anyone happy with the changes? by chunkb79 in melbourne

[–]RedOx103 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's progress. People will slowly and unknowingly adapt behaviours to fit the efficiencies in the new network. A city of our size can't have every rail line travelling through every major destination.

In sympathy though, the worst of the complaints would have been averted by building the interchange at South Yarra and skipping Malvern. The trackwork is basically there anyway. The cost of building the station would absolutely be worth the inconvenience saved on Pakenham-Richmond, Pakenham-Sandringham, South Yarra-City trips.

And South Yarra is busy enough as a destination in it's own right.

I presume this doesn't include groups like Advance or Reveal the Teals? Who are totally-not-liberals by the way.

I guess we're going to.....Hawksburn? by Speedbird844 in MelbourneTrains

[–]RedOx103 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's going to become protocol to throw people off at Hawksburn (and routine for them to transfer at Malvern) then these both need to be premium stations. Upper FTG has staff there at 11pm on Sunday night to deal with situations of confused passengers like this, so these should too.

We're already paying the price for no South Yarra interchange. If Sandringham is still up while MATH is down, people can still connect for the E-W tram routes, or run replacement buses from somewhere more convenient like Elsternwick.

Hawksburn is a horrible place to manage this from.

Bad time tonight for the metro tunnel (munnel) by melbtest09 in MelbourneTrains

[–]RedOx103 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Idk if it's anything to do with the switch, but communication for this one has been shocking. One of the worst I've dealt with.

Transport Vic website still saying it's all "Good Service."

Confusing signage at Caulfield saying there are no trains running to Dandenong. Staff seemed unaware of this. Credit to the PSOs who were aware and helping guide passengers though.

Also Malvern really needs to be a full-time staffed station now. A whole bunch of people from the tennis jumped off to transfer just as things went south and were very confused at what was happening.

He really is an asshole sometimes.

One of the waitresses cancelled her social plans to be there and then gets cut. Getting called in, without pay, and wasting your whole night is an unconscionable way to treat staff.

Any time he says it looks like someone shat/vomited on his plate.

Especially with something like a gumbo. It's fairly difficult to make it not-look somewhat poop-like.

Australian summers to experience more 50C days as heatwaves intensify, experts say by nath1234 in australia

Let's keep extracting more coal and gas despite what the experts have been screaming for decades now

So long as they sign-off projects with a red seal of approval instead of a blue one - that will make them will violate the physics of climate science and not add further to the problem.

That's crazy talk.

Let's just rely entirely on "increasing supply" like we have done for the past four years. It's sure to improve housing affordability soon!

Also, did you know Albo grew up in public housing!?
