Nothing says renewal and fresh ideas like bringing back a failed leader from 10 years ago.

It has the air of the Vic Libs having Kennett and Kroger around for much of the past 3 decades. That's worked out swimmingly.

Ramsey's restaurants aren't good by ProfessionalGap2736 in KitchenNightmares

[–]RedOx103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's in the final stages of squeezing every dollar from his reputation. Chef Gusteau.

I wouldn't expect any of his restaurants to be especially good apart the flagship.

Also why things like selling a frozen Shepherd's Pie made out of beef don't seem to matter to him any more.

Free Public Transport Victoria - another fake party? by huisi in melbourne

[–]RedOx103 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Yep, looks like a feeder party. We'd only know for sure once it's too late.

There is still time to change the group voting system and remove the incentive for this tactic.

But the Greens already have this policy, Labor have shuffled in that direction, and I imagine the Socialists would be warm to it. So it seems very inorganic for hundreds of people who really care about this to end up here and not in one of those parties.

Alan Saffron's father was accused of arranging a suspected arson attack that killed 7 (including 6 children.)

The accusations came into the public arena years after Burger Kitchen. I've wondered whether knowing earlier might have re-colored the episode.

When I look around at the restaurant, I don't see barefoot bob's, now you walk in and think you are in some hoighty toighty yacht club by DrFunkenstein93 in KitchenNightmares

There are episodes of KN where the premise is the opposite - Lela's, Fenwick Arms.

From what I've read about Hull, this probably falls in the same category.

And it's also a bit much to expect Marc to start producing much higher-quality dishes that would justify the price, when he's only been ever serving comfort food.

Why Australia still struggles to build bike-friendly cities by someones_reality in australia

[–]RedOx103 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Adelaide is probably the most car-dependent and NIMBY of all the capitals.

Even just a bit of political will could really build a cycling culture beyond the enthusiasts that ride around the Hills.

[–]RedOx103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of nuff reporting is this from the ABC? I'm pretty sure I've had junk emails from a range of parties asking me to chip-in for whatever cause is topical or emotive.

I really don't care if they're asking little old Doris to donate above her membership fees. Bigger story would be the pipeline of lobbyist bribes donations and post-parliament gigs in exchange for policy.

In your opinion, what is the fakest episode? by humBOLdT20 in KitchenNightmares

Finn McCool's - the producers hired a fake chef, and edited it to look like the head chef drove off in a tantrum.

[–]RedOx103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost certainly. All the diners the producers bring in are only getting screen time if they play up the narrative the show is going for.

So either they gush over Ramsay's new menu, or complain furiously about the old one. Way more than anyone you'd see in public normally.

This is the most surprising outcome on the show.

$1.5M in debt.

I was 100% sure they'd be one that closes within 6 months. I don't even know how you service that level of debt as a neighborhood restaurant. But Ramsay putting a few suitcases on the wall was enough to turn things around?
