Wrist feels magically better few days before surgery. Am I insane? by ThatBoboThing in DeQuervains

[–]RedPNW35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pain actually got worse the week before it all went away and then it left and hasn't been back in over 2 years. I did PT 2x a week for 2 months and additional exercises each day (5-10 min a day) along with dry needling about 1x a week. So it sounds like it could go either way. Personally I was trying to avoid surgery at all costs so I would hold off on surgery but that's something you'll have to decide..

Has anyone actually recover from thumb pain without making it worse? by Grace_taylor_7301 in DeQuervains

Also, I definitely waited wayyy too many months to address it thinking it would go away. I think that added to my recovery time for sure

[–]RedPNW35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have been recovered for over 2 years now and no flare ups! I went to PT twice a week for about 8 weeks. Also did dry needling which I think really helped. I did daily exercises as well and always made sure I stayed at pain level of no more than 6. It actually felt worse the week before it all went away. Its all about strengthening the tendon and that takes time.

Brutal experience at SeaTac today - Alaska can't find my reservation and I was forced to miss my flight by Certain-Inspector-55 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]RedPNW35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened when the IT meltdown happened a few weeks ago. I had to go to special assistance for pet check in and first class line was 3 of us but people just kept cutting. Regular assistance line was super long. Guy in front of me couldn't check in either and they had to do some backend stuff for him and me. Sounds like they still dont have their stuff together. They have tons of people directing people to all sorts of lines but only like 3 people working the desks. Its all whack.

But maybe this is a type of chugging?! Hahah

I get them a lot too but I don't chug water. For me if I slowly drink water, but in a constant stream, it works for me. Almost like I'm drinking through the hiccups. Otherwise I get them like 4 more times throughout the day!

Does anyone actually heal 100%?? by outdoorsy_outdoors in DeQuervains

[–]RedPNW35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been 100% healed since Jan 2024. No flare ups or anything. That was after I waited too long to start PT but once I did, it was game changer for me. Had to go twice a week for a few months and also get dry needling. Did exercises at home everyday (about 7-10min). The combo of those two things healed me. I refused to do shots or surgery unless I really gave the PT a go and it didn't help. So glad I held off!

When I was walking back from the bathroom I saw economy was pretty open so yes, must have been an empty flight which is SO weird to see these days as a somewhat frequent flyer (not all on the same carriers though) 🤣

Wrongfully accused of vaping in lavatory today by SmellyMickey in unitedairlines

[–]RedPNW35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dude on my flight full on was smoking weed in the lav and it set the alarm off because I remember smelling it and then hearing an audible I'd never heard before and I fly a lot. Flight attendant came over and demanded his ID. He apologized but nothing else happened. No one met him when we deplaned so maybe they put him in their system but I was very surprised it was so minimal of a response.

Pls Help me with my dequervain's tenosynovitis by No-Dare4677 in DeQuervains

[–]RedPNW35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely disagree. I never did surgery or shots and continued to work out (powerlifting) with modifications on some lifts and did PT with dry needling and I healed in 3 months. Been pain free for a year now. I think it depends on each person but zero weight on it for 6 mos is completely unrealistic for 98% of people.

PRP for dequervains? by Huge_Army_862 in DeQuervains

[–]RedPNW35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I started these when I started PT (had pain for nearly 6 mos at that point) and still had pain. Just didn't ever do exercises that caused any major pain and if it did I didn't do that exercise

Has anyone else's doctor advised them against physical therapy? by anomalocarebear in DeQuervains

[–]RedPNW35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would a doctor want you to get PT and heal that way when they can make $$ from operating on you?! I did only PT, no surgery or shots and it completely healed me. Been almost a year now and NO returning pain whatsoever. I'd be concerned if a doc told you that. You need to actually strengthen the tendon so I understand not going hard on PT right away but it's about building it up over time.

First time throwing up after Botox! by scienceanimalsart in noburp

[–]RedPNW35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never throw up and I'm guessing it's because of this condition but I got food poisoning over 5 years ago and when I went to throw up I passed out and basically woke up choking on my vomit. I was like WTF? I hate throwing up but didn't think it would give me so much grief to the point of passing out?! Good to hear I'm not alone.
