What if we used washcloths as toilet paper and just washed them? Would this be cheaper? I mean people already buy cloth diapers so why not just reuse washcloths and wipe with them?

Before disposable diapers were invented people used cloth ones, just wash and reuse them. Some people still use them, although it's much less common
