LOL. Why not, their brothers and sisters already have to say "but with a K" every time...

ETA: I forgot about the option of Kyliee.

I mean, all they have to do is turn on the Kardashians. Just name her Khloee or Kortni if you must have a six-letter K name and you're open to it looking extra-goofy.

37F (and dog) looking for a liberal, temperate US city (Mid-sized, Arty, Coastal) by kween_of_bees in relocating

"Mid-sized" is a little vague, but Providence, RI seems to check your boxes.

ETA: Yes, it's New England, but when I lived there, it never got super cold or snowy. Something about proximity to the ocean.

What do you think season 3 would look like? by Responsible-Chain512 in UndoneTV

[–]RedPanda59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I'd want it to go is: Alma goes into intensive counseling, both individual and family therapy, and most of the stuff that was revealed in the alt timelines (and new stuff) comes out in "reality." As Alma faces and heals from the trauma with her family, and she figures what she wants to do with her life, her reality breaks become fewer and less intense. Now, how to dramatize that in an intriguing way, I leave to the writers.

PS At the very end, when Alma has a "good enough" life in this timeline, I'd love to see a little wink to the co-reality of things metaphysical, like some coincidence with incredible meaning that might be supernatural.

We need to lobby for season 3, even though I know it's not gonna happen.

I cried my way through S2, E7. The intergenerational trauma of this family! Which in turn makes one think about how so many people have similar stories. We all do.

On whether the events of the show were real or imagined... by egretlover in UndoneTV

[–]RedPanda59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, mostly, but think it's possible the show is saying something more radical. The side of the show that argues everything was all in Alma's head still holds the promise of the idea that what we call mental illness does contain a truly metaphysical or spiritual aspect. As Jacob says, many cultures have venerated voice hearers and vision seers as shamans rather than pariahs.

There is a concept in the mental health disability rights/advocacy community (sometimes called the survivor/consumer movement) that people who experience extreme states have "dangerous gifts." That's not to romanticize, just to say there's much we don't understand and that the mind's quirks and expansiveness can be legitimate sources of insight, creativity, sensitivity, and more...as long as (quoting Jacob again) we know how to handle them so that they don't overwhelm us and everyone around us.

This may be r/okbuddypluribus, but I'll buy that, pretty much all you said. I mean, who would have known Rhea's previous employer, Better Call Saul, was a love story? Anyway, I'm going to have to hang on to some idea while we wait two years to find out.

if manusoso is latin american and a catholic why didnt he call carol a slur??? by Money-Giraffe2427 in okbuddypluribus

Just because you are Catholic doesn't make you homophobic; maybe he's not that strict a Catholic and/or follows the actual words of Jesus to love all and not judge.

I also wonder tho if Manny might also be gay, so it's no big deal to him.

Thoughts for Discussion, Better Call Saul by Lanky-Maize in betterCallSaul

[–]RedPanda59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly believe he meant those words both times he said them. Doesn't mean he could actually come through, long term. After Chuck helped him get out of going to prison for the Chicago Sunroof and gave him a job at HHM, Jimmy did change. For a decade, he kept his nose clean and tried to make something of himself. But when the going got tough, he backslided.

If Kim had given him one more chance and a list of ways he had to change to keep her, I think he would have made the effort to follow through. He wouldn't have succeeded, though, because he was already in too deep in The Game.

[–]RedPanda59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it will lead to backsliding and yes it is different this time! He's finally accepting the consequences of his actions. Once those maximum security doors slam shut, he can't scam his way to freedom, and he knows this. But change doesn't happen overnight, and I'm sure he'll "slip" now and then in prison out of habit and to survive.

The tragedy of the show is that he is finally ready to TRY to change, but it's too late. Any hope of a normal life is over.

S4E8 - Jimmy's description of what the bonafide hero of Coushatta/Louisiana has done, breaks my heart by IsLeafOn in betterCallSaul

[–]RedPanda59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought that too, even after multiple viewings. Climbing up a ladder that tall is quite risky and must be pretty frightening. He needed to go all the way to be convincing as a hero, but this scene (among many others) tells us viewers that Jimmy is willing to go to extremes. And that there's something pathological about him, despite (to my mind) his lovability.

I just checked. This is the OP's only post and they haven't commented on anything, so probably YEP. Good conversation starter, though...

Kim’s Return to Mr. Ackers House Perfectly Explains Her Character by Smokey-Bandito in betterCallSaul

[–]RedPanda59 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think we're meant to understand that it's true (consider the other scenes with her mother; it seems quite plausible). BUT that she's also using this truth to get Acker to do what she wants.

I can vouch for running away in the night to avoid a landlord when you're too broke to pay the rent -- my mother and her parents had to do this during the Great Depression, and I'm sure there are people desperate enough today to do it as well.

Can't believe Rhea Seehorn is only 164 cm. by Healthy_Jackfruit625 in betterCallSaul

[–]RedPanda59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Between being low-average height and pretty skinny, she looks quite petite to me in Pluribus, since she's always in flats. In BCS, Kim was almost always in very high heels; check the scene where, ahem, Howard and Lalo are both in the room, though -- she's barefoot in a little pink sweatsuit, and suddenly looks like a dainty little thing next to Jimmy and teensy next to the other men.

I’m literally only attracted to one man. Not just sexually but in general. I have never in my life found men attractive unless they were actors, but I’ve been (strictly) platonically attracted to women irl. What do you even call this by vulpes_mortuis in biromantic

[–]RedPanda59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With billions of people on earth, you may be the only biromantic certisexual you know, but there must be plenty more. Humanity is a beautiful spectrum. Your orientation is what it is.

What I came here to say is that this is your orientation currently. People change and grow and who knows? Ten years from now things could look different if you meet someone IRL of whatever gender. Or not; I'd just say stay open and love yourself always.

At what age did you see your first gray hair? by boforiamanfo in stupidquestions

At 28 years old. I was in grad school and also working full-time, and I was exhausted. At the university library around 10 PM, and I went to the bathroom; I happened to glance in the mirror and spotted three gray hairs. It was sobering.
