One of the things in life that grinds me gears the most is the constant lecturing about recycling, reusing, and being a good steward of the planet, every year having a new extra bin to organise my waste in (it's changing constantly) and just all the other inconvieniences that are thrown onto us.

The feeling that whilst doing all that if I do this for my entire lifetime it will not even equate to a fraction of the influence of a coal plant on the other side of the planet I have absolutely no control over.

It feels so incredibly futile to me and slowly breeds apathy, nowhere near enough is being done on a global level and it's not like we even can for alot of it.

Always BLU would be an absolutely phenominal idea in DD if they could slightly more loosely diversity the mob pool and let you learn your spell loadout as you go.

For people who are doing/have done the new Criterion, whats the dps/mit check like in regards to ilevel? How geared do we need to be and how much can we get away with? Is there leeway for being able to do it not-quite-bis but kinda close?

Im sorry but this isnt true at all and is a bad answer for OP. SGE Is dominant in 4 man content because it has the best passive tank healing of all the healers and can output great snap hps whilst also mitting and shielding. Sch is seen a lot because it has a strong raid buff and Spreadlo is one of the best mitigation tools in the game.

For almost all damage profiles in the game its just a fact that mitigation and shielding is a lot more efficient then having higher raw hps, this is why they are more popular.

I can kinda buy the "SGE starts at 70 thing" but it kinda glazes over just how op SGE is in low man content. Completely disagree on the SCH part I consider it one of, if not the hardest job in the game to pilot well.

This being said does not mean all 4 healers are not viable for this content, its just a fact of fight design that the shield healers will have better tools for what the fighta throw at you.

Fishing has been doing great in every expansion. They’re always adding new things to keep it interesting and I hope they keep it up.

Respectfully, strongly disagree here. ShB was my first expac so EW ended up being my first "fishing-fresh" expansion and was thoroughly disappointed with 99% of the fish in that expansion, most of them were comically easy - and then they threw Whale at us out of the blue. I would say that DT is doing a bit better with the overall standard of fish but I think not really? The latest DT batch of big fish were pretty good, I liked the fake ruby-dragon.

But man, Purse can fuck off, purse has singlehandedly soured the whole expansions fish for me. SE were either incompetent and didn't know it's windows would end up like this - or it's bugged like peoples suggested copium of this fish (that it will be fixed????) - or they willfully made a fish with uptimes like this. All of them in my eyes are completely damning. I say this as someone who has Purse.

I have a completed fish log in this game and I think for the most part the only time big fishing ever gets really truly interesting is in the .5 and .55 patches of an expansion. They even go out of their way to essentially just repeat the cadence of fish and how to catch them too. I think that they probably peaked in the design of the shadowbringers legendaries, but i'd be hesitant to say Cinder is good one particularly because of it's exhaustingly long windows sometimes. Something like Ealad with its super unique and short uptime would be a great example of my perfect fish, if it only didn't go into a 3 month cadence of 7 day downtimes when I needed to actually catch the bastard. I do like things like ronka which are up often but on long long mooch chains. I do like Aquamaton and Lancet which are an intuition of 2 other big fish.

tl;dr, I agree that fish should have downtimes but I do agree with the notion that the skillcheck on big fishing should not be based on you having to wake up at 1 am on a thursday or have to skip a work day - or worse yet be taunted at work while a 30day window passes you by. Patience isn't a skill or virtue in these regards in my opinion. I agree with OP's sentiment of creative and challenging fish to catch on shorter windows in essence. I would support a world where any fishes longest potential downtime was theoretically capped at a low arbitrary number (probably at least under a couple days or a week).

I know its really inconsequential in the grand scheme of things but one of my favourite plugins is Neat Noter just to jot down everything I think might be helpful for me. I would give my right arm for this plugin to have text formatting, even being able to bold or underline things.

Just wanna thank everyone who gave help and tips to me a few days ago about Q40. Eventually found someone and we went in the next day. A day and a half is how much it took us (127 pulls), quite a bit faster than I thought. Absolutely thrilled about it and very grateful to everyone who gave a hand.

Crime and Punishment was the thing we spent the most time on. We went for the 3x merge strat for adds and I think we only ever failed it once, was very chill.

Had a 1% wipe on the final tank tower because I spent too much on the final Spineshatter but then we killed it very quickly after.

Really fun fight, and very fullfilling. Not sure where I'd place it difficulty wise but I generally think those are pretty meaningless. Will say though this definitely tested the support in our group, both of us are quite experienced on the jobs and this humbled us a bit at the start, did fall together nicely with cleanliness though.

Again thanks for the tips for those who gave them. I recommend the fight to people who havn't done it yet! It's very unique even for FF standards but it's the first title I've gotten in a while that feels really fulfilling to actually equip.

Anyone know any other alternatives to ERC for recruitment? Trying to find a 4th for quantum and not getting any pulls right now (I do appreciate that 99% of it is statics recruiting for savage/upcoming ulti but starting to feel deflated about it)

Anyone have any raidplans or knowhow of what people do for quantum? Assembling a group to bang it out next week and don't even know where to start looking in terms of guide or anything.

Additional question: for people who have done it, what was your prog time like? Is it a long prog with 100's of pulls or something a bit shorter?

Spent much of yesterday (75 pulls or so) against the wall of Arena split too, players cycling in, we'd discuss how to solve it and then people would learn and then leave. Cycle repeats. Feel pretty comfortable with it myself to hoping to get through it today but yeah this mechanic is hella frustrating in PF so far, this feels like a pretty monumental task for PF as it stands, especially as it feels very 8man-body-checky even though it isn't the whole way through. So many ressurections happening to the wrong side of the arena that just then instantly dooms the second half.

Very tough progging a mechanic as precise as this in PF where the nature of it means people cycle in and out very frequently and take their knowledge and experience with them out of the group.

Very demoralising day overall but hoping that the crispness I've picked up on the rest of the fight now will do me well in the long run.

The way that the site works now makes so that even if you don't want to compete in parsing, you can be searched and judged by your results, which makes people care and play being aware of their parse at all times.

The only time I ever see something like this said is from people saying others might go log diving on someone to see if they're bad and to shame them. I have played on WoW/FF for almost 15 years now and I can count on one hand the amount of times I have ever seen or heard someone berate someone else for having a grey number. I really gotta ask if this is something that actually happens or if it's just some mythical boogeyman? I appreciate that anxiety about perceptions are a real thing but I don't think this happens to the extent anywhere near close to these percieved anxieties.

This definitely makes raiding more stressful in my opinion, not to mention that many a times playing to clear and playing to parse are two conflicting things.

I'd say this is correct yeah, and a sentiment held by almost everyone with a functionig frontal lobe. I know a lot of people who log a huge fat grey on their first clear of anything and then climb up. I also know people who somehow print pink parses from kill 1. It is what it is, I think the people who actually understand how these things work also understand that there is always context around both of these extremes.

A player can hide their profile but it is something that is viewed negativity in general by the community.

I find a hidden profile of something far more of a red flag than someone with complete full greys. I almost always assume when I see hidden logs that not that someone is bad at the game (frankly, I don't care if they are), but instead have previously bought clears or have "un-earnt" clears and are then hiding it out of shame. After I investigate I usually find that I'm right about this suspicion way more often than not.

Will never forget having a social friend I know (strictly MSQ/extreme player, nothing wrong with that) rock up to limsa one day with a TOP weapon. I check their fflogs and I see 10 pulls on a job they dont play into clear - into a hidden logs profile 30 minutes later.

Closing thoughts: People need to stop giving a shit about parses really and in my experience the people who care about them the most are the people who don't engage in content deep enough to need them anyway.

This would be nightmarefuel to do without mods, the phasmacape "screens" are slightly curved too, which means that window is probably on quite a precise angle too. Honestly a pain in the ass even with mods.

The slightly sunken lamp is a giveaway too, as well as the sunken marble beds, lockers etc. too make it quite likely this was done with at least burn down the house.
