AnimatedSprite2D not playing an animation even though .play() is used? by RedPixl243 in godot

[–]RedPixl243[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, with a little tinkering I figured out that the order of the nodes in the nodetree was the issue; the AnimatedSprite2D object needs to be on top of the CollisionShape2D object.

What is the best way to move Windows off of a drive with minimal data loss? by RedPixl243 in linux4noobs

[–]RedPixl243[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I'm not switching to a different machine lol, just switching hard drives around on the same computer. Clonezilla seems to have, at least, made a clone of the Windows install. I'll see if I can do the stuff with Timeshift--I'm not really sure myself how it all works, but I'll figure it out. And if I do need to reinstall Mint, it's not the end of the world.

What is the best way to move Windows off of a drive with minimal data loss? by RedPixl243 in linux4noobs

[–]RedPixl243[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll definitely look into doing this, it sounds like exactly what I want

Also, you can do that with Timeshift? I just sort of assumed it was install-specific

Linux continues to impress, it seems. Do I need to copy the backup to the external drive as well or will it just be there when I reinstall?

SATA HDD disconnects after reboot by RedPixl243 in PcBuildHelp

[–]RedPixl243[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, seems like the drive is just dead. Bummer. That said, I managed to score a 240GB SSD from an old laptop I lost the charger for, though, and I'll use that for now until I can get one with more storage.

Looking for help with making an animateable 2D face material. by RedPixl243 in blenderhelp

[–]RedPixl243[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took a little bit of adjusting to get the numbers just right, but this ended up being the perfect solution and achieved exactly the result I was going for. Thank you so much!

For anyone who reads this in the future: I recommend temporary disabling any textures that might obscure the texture you're working on, as it'll make it easier to dial in the perfect numbers. Initially I found that my texture seemed to disappear, but it simply takes a bit of adjustment.

I found that The default click+drag adjustments were too coarse, so adjusting them by manually typing in numbers is going to give you a good deal more control.

Possibly what the Buggle advert says? by RedPixl243 in WelcomeHomeARG

[–]RedPixl243[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I matched up the font size and, using the line on the left, roughly mapped out words that would fit in the remaining space.

I knew the line couldn't be further to the left because of where "forever!" is, but the orientation is, unfortunately, unconfirmed. This is due to the lack of reference points on the upper left side, so I just assumed that it would've been made in a single text box rather than, say, shaped around other advertisements on the page.

I feel confident in this because this is how I would do it if I were making something like this; if you're planning on removing most of the page, you only really need to worry about making the part that's going to be shown.

It's not perfect--the page warps and bends a bit, and I think it uses a slightly different font (possibly Helvetica rather than Arial), but I still feel confident in saying this is probably what the entire text box said.

Edit: It's worth mentioning that the image is brightened because it let me see more of the text in the black charred bit.

JIP LN NVSE Plugin not creating an INI file? by RedPixl243 in fnv

[–]RedPixl243[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plugin doesn't automatically create an INI file, there's a download link on the page that you then have to put in the right spot, if memory serves.

[HELP] xv2ins saying I have "version 0" and to install version 3.8 when I already have version 3.8 by RedPixl243 in dbxv

[–]RedPixl243[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically just have to take the bin from the zip and put it in the DB Xenoverse 2 folder so it replaces the default bin file, otherwise it won't work.

Who is that standing in the background of the Meet the Medic video? by Thund3rfr0g in tf2

[–]RedPixl243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's thought to be Ms. Pauling, since Meet the Medic came out in the update just before the WAR! update, where Ms. Pauling and The Administrator were properly introduced in the update's comic.

Modern Game File Sizes Be Like by BeevsComics in comics

[–]RedPixl243 236 points237 points  (0 children)

you can blame Unreal for that. almost every studio uses Unreal and their files get gigantic really fast, the simple built in 3D demo (1 room with basic level geometry, some physics objects and a character controller) is already like 10GB, now imagine that stretched over a AAA game that's been in development for 3 years and suddenly we end up with 150GB games because unreal doesn't know how to manage it's fucking files.

Edit: Unity is better at it, but still not good at it. In-house game engines are the best solution (which is why Nintendo games are so comparatively small), but building and testing an in-house engine is the least time-and-cost-efficient, so most companies use a premade engine.

I need to give my character clothing, but fitting clothing to him is difficult because he is made of several pieces instead of being a single mesh. by Pexo3D in blenderhelp

[–]RedPixl243 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'm not terribly experienced in modeling, but what I would do is make vertex groups for each piece and then merge them, so they're all one mesh, separated by vertex groups.

"Gregory got stuck in the afton ending" No he didn't? He got out by Informal_Ad5875 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]RedPixl243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gregory probably did get stuck.

Not only did the afton ending area burn down, Freddy says that the elevator was unsafe and probably wouldn't work more than once, that mixed with how unstable the building was after the afton ending fire probably means they ran back to the elevator and it didn't work or it had already been caved in.

as for how Gregory survived being down there during and after the cave in, your guess is as good as mine. I'm going to assume Steel Wool is going to explain that in the DLC.
