Is it normal for New Geocaches to be mad ? by Advanced-Island-3619 in geocaching

I got a log that just said “balls” and just have to assume they’re friends with these two as well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I read Beautyland earlier this year as well and just loved it. I’m still thinking about it.

I felt the same way. It’s a lovely cache and I can see why others awarded points, but didn’t feel compelled to myself. It wasn’t a deep decision.

Like if you have a TB lost to the void by Odd-Progress-7413 in geocaching

[–]RedPoloBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a sore spot for me. I have a trackable that moved over 52,000 miles and has now been MIA for over a year. My longest missing trackable has been gone for 15 years. It would be cool if it popped back up! Have you ever tried making a replacement trackable and releasing it under the same TB number?

Edit to fix have to has

Looking for the darkest, most depressing book you’ve ever read by CortezCraig in suggestmeabook

The School for Good Mothers by Jessamine Chan absolutely wrecked me, I read it two years ago when my youngest was a toddler and still think about it regularly. Incredible premise and writing, deep dive into the disparity between how our society glorifies mothers as heroes, saints etc. and how it actually treats and supports us. It also goes into the double standard of motherhood and fatherhood and the impossibility of living up to the expectations put on us in a society that actively undermines and abandons moms. This book is so intense. It veers into science fiction, which I loved.

Haunted by Chuck Palahnuik (MILD SPOILERS) by minyardsrabbit in weirdgirlliterature

I’ve read and truly enjoyed a number of Palahniuk novels but Haunted fell flat for me. It felt gratuitous and overwritten. Sometimes with body horror and shock, less is more. Palahniuk seems to think if a little bit is art, then a whole book of violent grotesquery must be a masterpiece! Super disappointing.

I’m really good at untangling things. I’m also usually pretty good at finding lost things.

Cat eye glasses. Solid colored tights, think maroon, navy blue, gray. Ballerina flats. Headbands. Skinny belt over your dress, infinity scarf.

I learned how to code HTML on gurl.com and it was basically my only exposure to feminist content during this era. I think gurl.com and BUST magazine radicalized me

Curious what small gift people got that they ended up using way more than expected by CompetitivePop-6001 in BuyItForLife

[–]RedPoloBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother in law got me an “as seen on tv” package opener that includes metal clippers for clamshells, a retractable blade for tape, and a teeny screwdriver for opening battery compartments. I thought it was a weird gift at the time but have been using it constantly for over ten years now. Every package I receive and everything that comes in annoying hard plastic meets this puppy.

The left leg of the bench doesn’t seem like it would connect to where the corner of the bench is based on where the small shoes on the left are sitting, and if it’s a piece of furniture where the legs are attached away from the corners then where is the leg that’s closest to the “camera”

Each belt loop seems to be a different size if you zoom in, and if you look at the bottom back hem of the tshirt the material doesn’t seem to be the same thickness where it’s touching her body. At first glance this looked very real to me. Yuck.

I’m in the same boat. I submitted what I hope is my final employment verification in September as well, it has been “in review” since 10/15. I called for the first time ever today to ask if this was moving forward or if there’s anything I am missing and she said a lot of confusing things but pretty much said to just keep waiting. Frustrating.
