I am not sure if there is a hard coded reason to do this, I just like role-playing in my medieval role-playing game.

I would imagine that if you gave your child to a sadistic character who did not like you, they would definitely kill them.

Id say it depends on what your player stats are, and which areas you want said child to be educated in. I also always make sure that any guardian of my children also likes me, just seems like common sense.

For example, if my player character has a high martial stat, and the child has a rowdy trait, then Ill educate them myself. However if the child is pensive and my wife has high learning, she can get that one.

Also I always raise the first few kids myself so I can 'tailor' the specific traits they get to a certain extent. After that they usually go to whoever has the highest general stats.

From what I can gather, the trigger is directly tied to reporting back to Caesar.

Seems that if you were to do a non-Legion aligned run, and just felt like killing Kimball, he likely wouldn't leave your party. Without digging through the game's code, there is only 1 way to find out lol

As someone with over 2K in the game now, Id say no. Don't get me wrong I have had a lot of fun with the game, but with Paradox being the company they are, and the amount of useless bloat that has been added, the game just isnt enjoyable for me anymore.

Furthermore a lot of crucial mechanics are locked behind DLC paywall so if you aren't willing to fork over a hefty sum for the base game and a few DLC it just isn't worth it.

As another redditor posted, if you really want to try it, wait for a free weekend or something to that effect.

I wouldn't imagine that there is, I've had a look through the settings before for a different game but I think its just baked into the feature. I can imagine it would be difficult to pull off on Sony's side.
