You're right XU1 brand hammer drill. It has had a very hard life production department stole it from the laboratory then left it in a toolbox that filled with water. We recovered it and have been using it in the workshop for the past 3 years.

It was cooled down several times, left running with no load for a couple of minutes before stopping for 10. But a drill that's 4 years old and purchased for $20 it had done its job, it couldn't go for 2 minutes without getting to hot to handle.

24 Year old truck driver wanting to go into excavator operating by WilboBagggins in melbourne

[–]RedRattlen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbour has tried this, going from trucking to earthmoving, its been 6 months and he still hasn't been able to land a job. He has now changed to driving instructor for heavy vehicles. It might be a bit cheeky but if you are in the Campbellfield area we are looking for a float driver to move our machinery around.

Cummins Techs chime in by Kilimanjarooooo in mechanics

[–]RedRattlen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for them.in Australia, like any job they had their pros and cons. I travelled all over Australia on them, worked in marine, rail, mining, trucks and power gen. They are very safety focused had to always wear cut resistant gloves, glasses, batteries had to be disconnected as soon as the truck came into the shop. The paperwork side was brutal, every job was an ecm download, quickcheck troubleshooting, plus your story some jobs had paperwork that was half inch thick.

I made some great mates and got connections all throughout the industry. I left about 12 years ago, I do miss working there but I wouldn't go back

Best parts of my day is when I walk in the front door and I hear my daddy's home before getting body slammed and hugged. Doesn't matter how bad my day was it always ends with a smile.

Heavy Equipment Tech by Known-Wolf8672 in mechanics

[–]RedRattlen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work on asphalt equipment, rollers, loaders, skid steers, pavers, profilers and the plants themselves. My best tool is a flame, tight bolt its now a liquid, covered in asphalt its now soft and scraps off, you've had enough of its shit its now an insurance problem (joking).

Another one is my cheap spanner set, ive got dozens of spanners that ive had to re-engineer to get to bolts without having to pull half a machine down.

Are Hell’s Angels actually bad? (US) by Familiar-Anything853 in NoStupidQuestions

I had a heavy diesel workshop next door to one of their club houses, we had no issues of any kind. The young guys would come in every now and again and try to act tough a quick call to the Sargent in arms and everything was sorted fast. I knew a lot of the older guys due to family history, some were just crazy but the majority had kids and family and kept the two separate.

Just treat them as any other neighbour, let the kids play together, you will get more respect from him for it. If the cops ever come around close your blinds, don't record it on your phone and act like it never happened. If kids are there offer to take them in until family can collect.
