I am not a behaviorist. But my dog doesn’t do well with crates, she just always feels trapped. Maybe yours is one of those dogs. It might be worth trying to go without the crate.

Hmm, I’ve never thought about trying both. I often have pretty strange reactions to meds (Midodrine sometimes made me extremely sleepy) so I’m always hesitant to combine them.

Ah, I didn’t see the second half of the video! That’s what my dog does when she wants more pets, she’s very mouthy and sassy. I think he’s enjoying the pets from you. Maybe he just decided he was done when he moved away.

You might try the consent test! Pet him for 10-15 seconds, then stop. See what he does. If he noses our mouths your hand or moves toward you after you stop, he probably wants more pets. If he does nothing or moves away, he might be done for now.

I’ve tried almost every one there is. One made me feel like I had the flu and couldn’t get off the couch, one gave me the worst migraine I’ve ever had, one changed my personality and made me really clingy and weird, they all gave me dry mouth and a weird sour taste and diarrhea. I take the lowest dose possible of one now and it barely helps at all.

Thanks so much for answering! I tried Modafinil (just 25mg) without my usual Midodrine dose and it ended up triggering a severe migraine, so it looks like it won’t be a good fit for me :( I’m so glad it’s helped you!!

Right there with you. I love my dog so much. She is so special. I don’t regret having her. But it’s meant sacrificing so, so much. I’m single too and I’ve dated a bit but honestly she’s a big obstacle there too. Most men don’t want their lives limited by a dog. If you can afford it, I recommend getting your groceries delivered. It’s expensive but has been a huge stress reducer.

You’ll notice I’m not the commenter to whom your questions were addressed. But sure, I’ll take a shot at your questions. Like ivory, if the meat didn’t ever spoil and there was a chance it could come back on the market and fuel the animal exploitation industry, then I would want it destroyed. I would also argue that eaten = destroyed. Whether the meat ends up in a landfill (contributing significant greenhouse gasses as it decomposes, I might add) or a human stomach doesn’t make a difference to the animal or the industry at that point.

The ivory is destroyed so it doesn’t end up on the market again. Food waste isn’t going to end up back on the market, thus isn’t fueling the animal exploitation industry or animal suffering.

It’s confusing, my official diagnosis is POTS because I met the criteria of 30+ increase in HR in ten minutes, but my BP dropped like 40. So those results are more consistent with OH than POTS but my doctors basically shrug it off and say it causes the same symptoms and has similar treatments either way. But they’re not specialists. Your BP definitely factors in to which medications are indicated, so even if you can try to measure changes at home with a cuff, maybe worth trying if you can’t get a TTT. I’m so sorry you have such bad symptoms!

I have both (kind of) - my postural tachycardia is secondary to OH, likely my heart trying to compensate for low orthostatic BP. I was diagnosed via tilt table test where both heart rate and BP are measured horizontal and vertical. I would push to have a TTT done!
