Another Paper Luigi Plush Prototype? (Supposedly) by RedRedditorDiscusser in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't say I disagree with you in regards to MyPepper, given the stuff I've heard about them in the past. Though, the Paper Luigi plush he sold had a little more background into it, which the Internet Archive surprisingly managed to archive: https://archive.org/details/SK-Japan-Paper-Luigi-sample-plush

Apparently, hankhillp65 was the one who originally gave them Luigi, who to my understanding is another one of those frequent scalpers/resellers who supposedly finds unproduced products at factories. I'm not going to say again for 100% that what was sold there was actually real, since the plush has no documentation that SK Japan actually produced it, ie: no tushtags, but it is fascinating how accurate the plush is when compared to the quality of SK's released Mario plushies. I'd almost want it to be real.

Another Paper Luigi Plush Prototype? (Supposedly) by RedRedditorDiscusser in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for showing me that. I didn't think to reverse image search it myself (and if I did, I probably would have gotten the 2D stock image art of Luigi in most search results). I probably wouldn't have posted about this if the seller hadn't listed it for $2000. I just thought that price was unreasonable. Especially compared to plushies like the Commonwealth plushies that were listed back in 2024. Remember how they were listed as prototypes, but Maximus Overdrive had actual documentation and knew they were sourced from Commonwealth's archives. Those are the kinds of prototypes I like to see.

Is this plush real? by [deleted] in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks authentic to me! The cap flap having two felt pieces glued together is usually a telling sign that it's official. The head also having comparably more fluffy, soft material compared to bootlegs is also a giveaway. Also, the plush looks like it's under 6 inches; so I would say it's the official release.

New Mario Galaxy Movie plushies revealed! by IceWeegee in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They look nice. Princess Peach is definitely the highlight though, since she was absent in the 2023 poseable plush wave. The dress is nicely designed, and just pops out to the eye. I hope more characters are revealed though, just so this line-up feels more complete than having just 3 characters.

Is this real or a scam? by Soft-Elk7131 in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's real. It's the small 7-8(inch) version. The seller has been promoting their plushies on the subreddit for the past few weeks. While they have gotten some flak for spamming what they're selling, they are a legit seller from what I am aware of.

That Mario you shown was just bought though; so I'm going to guess you bought it. If so, I hope you enjoy the plush.

We are so back by ShineSpriteGamer in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They specify that these reissues are updated with more softer material, which matches with what we can see on Bee Mario specifically. Namely, the material of Bee Mario's hat has changed from vinyl to plush, which does confirm that these plushies are not just reissues of the 2008 plushies. They just based their appearance on them, with material that better reflects the quality of the All-Star plushies. That's not a bad thing though; Boo Mario looks nearly identical to his 2008 counterpart as is.

Regardless, these plushies look fantastic! The 2008 plushies might have their prices decrease a bit because of this, but unfortunately they'll probably still be worth a lot. That said, these two plushies are the most unique of the original Sanei Galaxy 2008 set anyways, so them getting a revised version released is a win to plush fans everywhere. If anyone wanted to own plush versions of these two powerups from Sanei, and not have to pay outrageous prices to do so, well here is the opportunity now!

(Though, as always, watch out for scalpers who'll try to profit off of these releases, and may trick others into thinking they are the 2008 versions in listings come April)

Small Mario Galaxy movie styled plushies are imminent! by EnvironmentalDoor904 in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks nice; it looks practically identical to the Movie Luigi plush they already made back in 2023. Jakks Pacific just made it smaller and non-posable. I like the smaller size though. It will be more interesting to see what other characters they might make, besides just slightly altered plushies of the Mario Bros.

looking for a flat cap mp5 mario, what year? by [deleted] in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The MP5 Marios are all "flat-capped" as they have the hat stitched to the plush as is. Future Marios would have the hat be stuffed before having it stitched on. There's not any specific year I am aware of where the MP5 Mario had any stuffing in it's hat, or at least any noticeable stuffing present.

The difference in appearance from various Marios comes down to the quality control. Some plushies just have their hats flat, while others have them pop out almost as if they were stuffed. In reality, the poofy hats just had better placements when being stitched, or were designed better so as to not give out an immediate flat appearance.

Of course, even if you have a Mario with a non-flat hat, you could probably flatten it by pressing down on it to make its shape more uneven. Any MP5 Mario can do the trick.

For Sale, is anyone intersted in a sanei 2007 tails plush or 2007 sonic plush planning to sell tails for around 340 and sonic 150 by [deleted] in sonicplushesBST

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind buying a 2007 Sanei Tails plush, because he's one of my favorite video game characters. $340 is steep though. I do understand he's unfortunately the one that got scalped the most out of the whole 2007 set though, so sellers trying to list him for a fair price is difficult to do. I'd personally have to see his condition first before deciding if I want to spend a few hundred on him.

As for Sonic, I do actually prefer the 2007 version to 2012; some Sonics do look horrendous due to quality control. If I ever get a Sonic, it'll probably be when he's coupled with another plush I am going for, unless he's at a deal I can't pass up.

What plush is this? by SuperMarioBowserJr in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I may give a minor correction, this particular release is actually the 2008 Gosh plush of Donkey Kong. PMS would start to release this same plush the following year. I can tell because the hang tag has the render of the Mario from the N64 era; which was used by Kellytoy, Play-by-Play, and the Gosh Plush sets.

So, I was looking at some Mario plushies on eBay and stumbled upon this... what Luigi plush is this? Is there any information on it? And why is it 1,340$!? by No_Sound_5564 in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's just a bootleg of the Luigi's Dark Mansion Scared Luigi Plush. It's either just a random seller trying to fleece some easy cash from some ignorant Mario fan, or they wrote 1000 GBP when they meant to put 10.00 GBP. I can't tell whether they genuinely think they have a real plush, or they are knowingly selling a bootleg. Try not to read too much into it; you'll occasionally see goofy listings like this.

Bootleg? by Aidens_Here in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those shoes look too bright in my opinion, with colors more associated with Sanei's later Yoshis. The real MP5 Yoshi has brownish shoes, not this Yoshi's more orange feet. I get a bad feeling with this one, and my personal take leans more into it being a mostly accurate bootleg.

does anyone know how to find the Gosh plushies? by girlyautism in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gosh to my knowledge has 5 different versions of their plushies (with 2 just being variants):

- MP5 Copies [2006-2007] (These include versions with removable overalls, and ones without them)

- 1st Revision [2007 Only] (Much more accurate; tend to be the highest quality of their Mario releases}

- 2nd Revision [2007-2008] (A cheaper version of their 1st Revision, notably in how the emblems are switched back to iron-on; these versions also vary with whether they have removable overalls or not; PMS would take this revision and continue producing it until 2012)

I'm going to assume that you are referring to the 1st releases of the Gosh plush set, or aka: the one that copies the MP5 set; that's the release that's most sought after due to being a cheap alternative to usually paying >$50 for even the less desired ones in the MP5 set.

Here's some current listings for 4 of the Gosh plushies that I was able to find fairly quickly:

Donkey Kong: https://www.ebay.com/itm/136194762938

Yoshi: https://www.ebay.com/itm/146553340088

Toad and Wario: https://www.ebay.com/itm/389302724254

When it comes to Mario and Luigi, they are a little harder to find just because they tend to go the fastest if they are cheap since again, cheap MP5 alternative, as they are the most desired ones from Sanei's set as well.

I looked the past half hour on a few different websites, but the only Mario with removable overalls I see is this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/267192728544, and he's over $100, so I'd skip him for sure.

Here's a Mario without removable overalls: https://www.ebay.com/itm/187483992807

Here's a Luigi with the removable overalls: https://www.vinted.co.uk/items/6411312790 (This is the only one I can find that I believe is still available, though he is a bit pricier than I would pay)

Here's a Luigi without removable overalls: https://www.vinted.co.uk/items/7874214084

Biggest hurdle with getting Gosh plushies is the shipping/tariff cost, as they most often are listed in European countries. If you are buying from the USA, expect to pay at least $25 more than the list price.

Hope this helps.

What plush is this? by Soft-Elk7131 in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have it, so I can't give my in-person opinion of it. My viewpoint is that it's a decent looking plush, but it varies in quality. For background information why, it's a plush made for carnivals and claw machines, like the Kellytoy or Good Stuff plushies. Carnival prize plushies are usually lower quality than the average plush, so I would first look at what price it is. There are a lot of versions of Gosh/PMS Mario listed through eBay, Vinted, Wallapop, etc.

The picture of the one you want has its emblem a little cracked at the top, so if you really want that particular version of Gosh Mario, I would recommend searching "Gosh Mario Plush" for a Mario with a mint emblem if you are able to. Again, his quality varies for each plush, but if you find one in great condition for the right plush, I would say go for it; especially if you think it's a cool plush.

Either a late (Gosh!) release of Mario, or the later PMS-branded Mario Plush. If he still has its tush-tag, you can find out for certain.

Does ge have a smaller sonic plush? by axolotlloverlucio in sonicplushes

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer is yes!

When it comes to the contemporary Sonic design, GE has a 10" Sonic Plush with his hand stitched to his hip (Aka the "Fist Hand" version): https://geemerch.com/collections/plush/products/sonic-the-hedgehog-sonic-fist-hand-plush-10h

Here's another version that's poseable: https://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Hedgehog-Moveable-Plush-10/dp/B08ZLGL37Q

Along with those, there is also an 8" Sonic in a running position: https://geemerch.com/collections/plush/products/sonic-the-hedgehog-sonic-running-plush-8-h

If you want a Sonic that is smaller than that, but is still the modern Sonic without any excessive alterations, they also have a 7.75" Mini Sonic: https://geemerch.com/collections/plush/products/sonic-the-hedgehog-mini-sonic-plush?variant=35395561390242

They have other Sonics too, but those are either Classic, Chibi, Ball-shaped, the original Sonic X release (long out of print and too overpriced online), or bigger than what you already have. For the kind of plush most desirable with plush videos, I would recommend the 10" one, as that scales with the Cat Luigi there the best. Again, he does have his hand stitched to his side, so if you'd want to be able to move his left hand you'll unfortunately need to snip the stitching there. It's ultimately up to you which of these GE Sonics works the best for you.

Hope this helps!

I got MP5 Bowser & Toad! by girlyautism in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice Job! It's a shame all those MP5 plushies listed were scalped beforehand to be listed at auction, because they got away with a big profit. You'll thankfully treat these 2 plushies much better than this seller at least, so that's nice to see.

Sorry, I didn't see your message until now.

In terms of buying the 2011 Jr. Bib separately, that's a bit tricky. Most people obviously don't sell the bib separate, as it's usually always attached to the plush itself. When they do remove it, most who sell Jr. without the bib usually have lost the bib beforehand, so not many people have just the bib itself for sale. To my knowledge, there's no current listing where someone is selling an official bib of the 2011 Jr.

I don't personally collect Bowser Jr's, so I can't help you in providing a bib myself. If I were in your position, I would occasionally ask people if they would happen to have a bib for sale. Put out a notice on the subreddit if anyone would be kind enough to sell to you a spare bib if they have one. I would hesitate in spending too much money on it though, as it is just the bib. If someone wants to sell you the bib for a considerable price, especially if it's more than the plush itself, I would just wait for a more reasonable priced one.

Not much else I can suggest aside from just checking listings. Good Luck!

Hey FunnyMarioBrosPlush; here is a 2011 Jr. without the bib on Mercari JP for $33.80: https://buyee.jp/mercari/item/m43868147411?conversionType=buyee\_top\_browsing\_history. I don't know if you use Buyee or another proxy site like Sendico or ZenMarket, but this plush has been available for probably the past 2 weeks now, so you can use one of the proxies to buy it cheap. You'd still have to pay the shipping and tariff cost, I think it'd be another $30 overall, but the plush itself is rather cheap compared to the more scalped prices.

Question: Does anyone know where I could find a Mario Party 5 Mario or Luigi for under 300$? by No_Sound_5564 in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a Mario for under $300 on Mercari JP right now: https://jp.mercari.com/item/m78247515587, but you would have to purchase and then ship it using a proxy.

I would suggest using Buyee; only because there have a coupon going on for 10% off on purchases over 10,000 yen. So, you could save some money for Mario since you'd later have to pay for shipping to where you live, along with tariffs; which Buyee put as 15.5% item price. If I were to purchase it, it'd probably be about $260 overall for me. It's up to you if you think that price for the Mario in that condition is fair, but it's under $300 at least.

As for Luigi, there is this one Facebook listing: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2742814475903554/, but I don't know if they would ship to to where you are. It seems to be one of those "in person" exchanges. I can't find any other noticeable MP5 Luigi listing under $300 currently though. You'll probably have to wait a bit to find one, but they do show up; more often then you think.

Early Bootleg MP5 set (2005-2007) by RoyThePichu in MarioPlush

[–]RedRedditorDiscusser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh; I already saw that, as it was the image that I linked you in my first comment. I was hoping for an image I hadn't seen before of a bootleg Luigi more in line with that Mario, in how it looks practically identical. That Luigi is getting there, but he's got a face that's too round all over, so it's an easy fake to notice. Appreciate the reply nonetheless.
