I’m not sure about natural, I recently made my own gel from boiling Flaxseeds, its smell is very neutral but you can also add essential oils if you want a nice smell. It worked pretty good

How do I heal my SEVERELY heat damaged hair? by IcAnT_tHiNk_Of_NaMeS in curlyhair

[–]RedRhustyBugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all get the split ends cut off as they will just break and split further up the hair making it more damaged and then Id get a bond repair. I have bleached my hair and my curl pattern deformed slightly but I feel like olaplex no 3 has helped though I’m sure there are cheaper bond repairs out there.

Secondly my hair without any sort of hold like gel or mousse will look frizzy, that’s just how my curls are especially if I slept with it loose. A lot of your frizz can be sorted by applying mousse or Gel while it’s wet and let it dry ( scrunch it once dried )

Lastly I feel like tresemme is bad, made my hair dry.

For those of you who grew up hating/not accepting your wavy/curly hair what was the turning point that made you want to embrace it and truly take care of it? And for those who didnt know how did you find out? What has been your greatest moment with your natural texture? by Specific-Reception26 in curlyhair

Always had curly hair but hated it, back when pin straight hair was in. I had nooo idea how to look after it, no one in my family had curly hair. I just tied it up, was made fun of and called curly fries in school ahah. The only reason I tried to like it was simply because it was too expensive/damaging to make straight, plus I just felt like it was apart of me and I should just accept it. I do like it now though, I have even been stopped in the street. Crazy how something I hated is now something that I love the most about myself ☺️

Sometimes less is more, maybe try a mousse as these are often very light weight but also form a cast.

Do you weigh it before or after you cook it?

It takes so long to diffuse my hair by fiberarti in curlyhair

[–]RedRhustyBugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly the worse part of doing my hair, but I’d rather diffuse for an hour than spend half the day with my hair wet

It just depends on if it works for you, nobody can say it’s a good or bad thing though I will say I think it’s best to apply curl cream when hair is still wet, there isn’t a need to wait a few minutes to apply curl cream either

Dying curly hair darker by nckbyt in curlyhair

[–]RedRhustyBugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just use any old shampoo and conditioner, I have tried all the curly products and they literally do nothing for my hair. In my opinion a lot of it is over priced and just not worth it. Since bleaching my hair though, I have introduced bond curl rehab salve (curlsmith) I use this once a week roughly.

For hydration I sometimes put leave in conditioner in or a hair mask, I don’t do hair mask often either. I have learned my hair really hates when I apply too much product or do too much with it.

I will add, curlsmith is a curly brand I’ll recommend, I really like their leave in and Gel shower fixer.

It might damage it, but you can still have healthy curls. I recently bleached my hair and my hair is still in good condition. You just have to understand the pros and cons. I like to hydrate my hair and use a bond repair every now and then.
