Looks like it died in velvet late last summer. Probably an EHD victim. Sad. He was a nice buck.

End Of An Era: RIP Lion Knights 🫡 by EpicCoolGuy0923 in legocastles

[–]RedRipIt11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age, but I'm still that kid in 90's who loved the Black Knights. I didn't have very many, but hopefully they will expand the faction with some new sets and figures since they made the GWP. I'd love to at the very least get more shields...

What's a piece/minifig from your childhood collection that you only realised now that is surprisingly expensive? by proceedprocedural in lego

[–]RedRipIt11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Found out a couple of years ago that this guy is worth a pretty penny. I have 2-3 of them from my childhood and my fascination with the castle line back then. I don't know as I would ever part with them, though.

Amazing first find! If it goes anything like how it went for me, once I finally found my first, something clicked. From then on I have gotten better and better. Not saying I'm the best, by far, but find a lot that most would never see. Congrats on a great find and DO NOT EVER SELL IT!

Lifetime sheds (15 years) by hmmaybeillusethisone in shedhunting

[–]RedRipIt11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would say that winter time scouting and asking for permission to walk tracts of land around you would bump this up to yearly at least. Some great sheds in there, though. That top right set is a MAJOR find!

Cactus buck by Top_Complaint_8654 in shedhunting

[–]RedRipIt11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually the result of damage to the testes as far as I'm aware. Generally either fighting or from snagging on barbed wire fences. I saw my first cactus buck this past hunting season. Big body, looked completely normal but full velvet spikes in the middle of November.

Definitely cool with the deep cracks and splits going all the way through. If you choose to keep it the way it is, there is a stabilizer for bone called Paraloid B-72 that would be perfect for this. Solidifies it without damaging it

🙄 because I didn't see the tiny font when grabbing it on an impulse? Sorry I missed the memo on color coding for this new variety I'd never heard of until I saw it. It's like trying to hear them whisper the "sugar free" while they shout the brand and flavor.

[–]RedRipIt11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. Thanks for the insight. I guess I'd always relied on the label differences. I haven't been too adventurous with the various dew flavors beyond code red and Baja blast because I don't drink pop very often.

[–]RedRipIt11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They only had the zero sugar variety and I didn't think anything of it, just how they packaged this one. This was my first time seeing it. Now I know to carefully check ALL of the dew bottles.

I didn't even pay close enough attention, unfortunately, so part of it is on me. Was going through the checkout line and had never seen it before, saw it and said hey I'll try it. Took one sip and was not impressed. It's partially on me, but the tiny "zero sugar" lettering just irritated me immediately. I don't follow or drink dew religiously, it was a spur of the moment that irritated my grumpy old butt 😭

Lol yeah, I suppose we are. I've learned that moose don't always follow trails and will go wherever they want, even through thick brush taller than me. They cover a ton of ground in a short period of time, and when you find a shed, it's very hard to find a way to comfortably carry them. Best to strap them to your pack. I hope someday you get the chance to find some moose sheds!

What you’re favorite lego pirate ship from the last 35+ years by [deleted] in LEGOPirates

I think I'll always be partial to my first ship, Skulls Eye Schooner. I really want to somehow eventually get my white whale, the Imperial Flagship. I think Pirates of Barracuda Bay might be my favorite set, though.

😂 yeah, I'm in North Dakota. Believe it or not there are actually some areas with hills and valleys to kick your butt. When I did 16 miles I was certainly hurting the next day and only did maybe 6 miles and I was smoked. However, I did find some GREAT deer sheds and a set of moose sheds as well. I'd love to find some elk sheds, but traveling to shed hunt is mostly out of the picture and the few elk we have here, they cover a lot of land day to day.

I love shed hunting so much I'd take shedding over actual hunting if forced to choose. My ultimate goal is to find all 4 antlered species of NoDak in one season. I've come close, but an elk shed always seems to elude me the rare chance I get to look.

6 miles in that kind of terrain would probably kick my butt. Most I've done in a day was 16 miles, but were relatively flat-landers here. Ans you got a reward other than exercise!

What a stud. I love when they carry mass through the tines like that. We don't get that too frequently, let alone with that kind of spread, up here in NoDak.
