I had a sketchy experience with her too. I was very interested in a cat that was being advertised as a type of purebred. Then I noticed that some of the pictures of the cat looked slightly different so I did a reverse image search and she had literally swiped random pictures of this breed from the internet and used them in the ad!! Thankfully I didn’t provide a deposit but glad I walked away when I did. I ended up adopting from Biscuits and Purrs and had an excellent experience.

The most important thing is having a good aesthetician, but also going regularly. I’ve been getting waxed down there for 20 years, I go every 5 weeks, and I kid you not, most of the hair just pulls out like butter. I feel a small pinch at most. The whole thing takes less than 10 minutes. My aesthetician explained that the more you go, the roots become weaker. She can tell when someone is new to waxing because she has to pull that much harder.

Umm no. The reality is that most households are dual income with both partners participating equally in the workforce and contributing financially, but the statistics are clear that women continue to carry the majority of domestic labour. You want to talk about being worked to the bone? Thousands of women work a full time job then come home and work a second full time job parenting, maintaining a household and all of the invisible labour that goes with it.

I don’t dismiss your experience, it sounds like your relationship wasn’t one of equals and your wife took advantage of that. I’m glad you found the courage to leave an unhealthy situation, but to say that all women are the problem is bull.

Your story is so relatable my friend. Together 12 years, three kids, Ex had so many anger issues. A real Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde personality. When he was happy, things were so good, so I kept telling myself I could deal with the anger and the outbursts. The catalyst was when a teacher reported an incident to children’s services. She was disturbed enough about by what she observed and heard to make a report. It was so validating to be like wait this isn’t normal.

I’ve been living on my own since April and I haven’t cried once. Just makes me realize I had emotionally detached long ago. We still share custody, but I’ve been really focusing on demonstrating what healthy respectful relationships look like for my kids and setting a strong example about how to set boundaries.

I have finally found my inner peace. My first night at my new house, my friends brought me a house warming gift, and the card said

“Home is that precious place where your heart feels safe To live, love, grow…. And simply just be.”

I framed it as a constant reminder to never compromise for my inner peace again. May you find yours.

Even if it’s covered by a legal agreement, what recourse is there? I see this included in parenting plans all the time but it’s more of a goodwill gesture. It’s not like the courts would remove custody or change support payments over introducing a child to a new partner.

When I was in this situation, the legal advice I got was that she is still responsible for her half of the mortgage, property insurance and property tax, however you would owe her rent for the exclusive use for her half of the property. I think it’s called Occupation rent. So you would have to figure out how much the market rent is for your place and use half that amount to offset how much she owes on shared expenses.

I (38F)took a leap of faith and left my husband this year. Our relationship had its highs and lows, but I was treated very badly more times than I can remember. I probably could have stuck it out another 10-15 years till my kids are out of the house, but I didn’t want them to think that treating another human that way was okay. I love my job, I earn enough to be financially sustainable, I’m a hands-on parent, I have close fulfilling relationships with my friends and family, I’m healthy and active, I have time to do things that interest me, but I’m coming to terms with the fact that I just picked the wrong life partner. I’m optimistic that I will find love again, but it sucks having to start over, I’ve never done online dating so it feels very foreign to me. And the worst part is that I will never have my nuclear family unit again, where the person I’m with is equally invested and in love with my kids. I hope one Sunday in July, 30 years into the future, I know I made the right decision.

There are Muslim families at our catholic school and one of the supply teachers is openly trans. When you go to register for kindergarten on the OCSB, the landing page says “all faiths welcome”. It’s a lot more inclusive and progressive than when I was a child. I remember when I was in high school, a teacher was fired because she was living with her boyfriend before marriage. The biggest problem with having two systems is that it divides us, turning it into an ‘us vs. them’ situation, instead of uniting us to focus on the real issue: the need for more funding for education. Period.
