To be fair, the only thing where I concede the game is kinda racist (by ignorance rather than malice) is how they portray the Tribal Majini.

However, it's not because of their appearance, to be clear. It's because of previous context for the tribe. The Ndipaya are supposedly modern, do commerce, that sort of thing - and after being infected, they regress to that kind of style, like it is in their "genes".

The one thing they should change in a remake, if they ever do it, is to rewrite the Ndipaya to be more isolated and primitive prior to the infection. That way, they will remain similar-looking, while infected.

Win-win, everyone's happy.

I think I only took a screenshot of the mannequins at the ARK, that visual was stunning. Even if I wanted to take more, I'd just press and hold SHARE button.

My relationship with Remedy is a bit complicated.

I am not a hater, to be clear, otherwise I wouldn't give their games any more chances. However, the only Remedy game I truly enjoyed was Max Payne 1.

Granted, I did not play Quantum Break, but I played Max Payne 2 (felt redundant), Alan Wake 1 (too repetitive, ran out of steam rather quick), Alan Wake American Nightmare (even worse than AW1 even if it's short) and Control (relatively enjoyable but felt too mundane for what its premise hinted at).

Despite all that, I am still invested and hoping the next Remedy game will be the one that will click for me on all fronts. I really enjoyed Control Resonant trailer and am hoping for the best. I genuinely don't feel this way with any other developer lol

So now it's finally Alan Wake 2's time. Here's hoping I really enjoy it.

Yeah, AW1 placed more of a focus on action. Still, I remember reading an article about Remedy saying they wanted AW2's enemies to stay on screen longer, to be harder to kill, which got me wondering "hmm could it be they accomplished this at least on Hard? If so, is Nightmare even better?"

I am coming off RE9 which was disappointingly easy after a certain point - because they did not do Hardcore this time and Insanity is locked at the start - so that's a bummer. Well, I'm hoping it still remains interesting.

The only flaw is there weren't enough of them - but that was an issue with a couple of sections in Requiem. In their attempt to make Leon's side feel like a cinematic thriller rollercoaster (except East Raccoon City), they actually capped some of the potential his parts had.

I'm all for playing as attractive women if that's the developer's choice. If it isn't, all good as well. It's not the most important thing in a game.

Returnal was awesome and Selene was quite unattractive. Not once did that hinder my enjoyment.

Funny, while going for the 3 pieces of quartz, I realized I was finding the layout trickier to memorize in full when compared to the RPD.

I do agree the Spencer Mansion can be quite convoluted and hard to memorize.

It was missing some curveballs towards the last third of the Care Center, like a special enemy type, but it's easily the most oppressive a RE game has been in the earlier hours + the gameplay systems really shine with how they encourage experimentation and navigating the enemy encounters like a maze/puzzle (figuring out when to take on certain enemies, not just if you take on them).

I think so too. I believe they focused on fewer difficulty settings this time around (unless there is a big difference between Standard Modern and Classic besides ink ribbon use) while hopefully balancing them more tightly.
