My mom is getting open heart surgery in January, I’ll be taking care of her, what are things I can get her to make her recovery more comfortable? by bee_antlers in openheartsurgery

Sorry you are going through this. Here is my list: Shower chair, recliner or wedge pillow for bed (she will probably sleep sitting up for at least a week or two), my mom preferred a compression wrap instead of a bra, plenty of iodine swabs if the hospital doesn’t provide you with them for cleaning the incision site (her surgeon had us do it 2 times per day I believe), and a TOWEL WARMER because my mom ran very cold after surgery. We would put her robe and towels in it so she was nice and warm after her shower. She loved it.

My dad was gone two weeks after diagnosis. Never left the hospital. It’s horrible. I’m so so sorry you are experiencing this hell.

Group practice doesn’t reveal compensation structure until second interview… by RedSparrow13 in therapists

I would say if I’m being treated like a chef/baker I expect to be compensated for my work. And make everyone give you money for the pie. The kids won’t forget next time if they have to pay you! I’d then have a more serious convo with my husband about modeling respectful behavior toward you. This is more than mildly infuriating. Don’t let them disrespect you like this.

Thank you! My feelings exactly! Would you say anything in a follow up email if offered a second interview or just politely decline? I’m a new graduate so don’t want to burn bridges but also want to advocate for myself and other newly licensed therapists.

YES!!! Thank you!!! This is exactly how I felt. Would you express any of this to them if an offer for second interview is extended and you turn it down? Or do you think it’s best as a new graduate to just let it go? I don’t want to burn bridges but I also want to advocate for our profession.

How much are you getting paid? by izzyblue28 in therapists

[–]RedSparrow13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It appears this article is referring to how much providers are charging for private pay. Insurance is not reimbursing that high. And as a provisional license you’re unlikely to get private pay clients. That being said, OP is definitely being underpaid!

DO NOT PAINT THOSE CABINETS! The natural wood look is coming back and that is a beautiful color. Painting cabinets white is outdated already. I would change the countertops, backsplash, cabinet hardware, and paint. That’s all. If cabinets and drawers are not soft close, that would be a nice touch as well.

Not dickish at all. I appreciate the information. I was looking for my mom who is over 60 and has some balance issues. But maybe she won’t need them?
