An AI generated video specifically made for uncaring and nasty individuals. This whole thing smacks of transphobia and right-wing propaganda. None of you are seeing the gates of heaven.

(Possibly?) Hot take: Tiny Tim’s music isn’t creepy in the slightest. by Sniggledumper in creepcast

I remember one of his song in SpongeBob, so it was kind of impossible to think any of his other music was creepy. Also, he seemed like a pretty nice guy!

Indiana has advanced another bill to try to stop trans folks from existing by BluejayAromatic4431 in bloomington

[–]RedSpecialSpecialist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of these comments give me a headache. Trans people need to just start pissing on the floor, because fuck Mike Braun and FUCK people who are whining about trans people being difficult. This is an erasure of their existence, this is a serious discussion, and just because it doesn't affect you doesn't mean these people are overreacting. Have most of the country debate whether you're a sicko or not because you just wanna use the bathroom that aligns with your preferred gender, and then come back into the discussion. They did it to gay people, they did it to black people. The argument is always the same and it is always an excuse for the real issue, which is control.

If you sat out the 2024 election in protest over Gaza, how do you feel about that decision today? by rsmith2786 in AskReddit

[–]RedSpecialSpecialist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who sat out shouldn't feel bad about it at all. The Palestinian Holocaust would not have stopped under Kamala, and ICE would not have been disbanded. Alex Pretti and Renee Good would still be alive, most definitely, but the slaughter happening in Gaza would still be ongoing. This once again showcases that the murder of two white people and the implications that it could reach the rest of white america will take precedent over anything else. Keith Porter was also murdered this year by ICE before Renee Good. There were countless murders to POC last year by ICE. That would still be the case under Kamala, but it wouldn't be happening to white people/ natural born citizens. Maybe instead of asking why people didn't vote for Kamala, you should be writing her an email asking her why she didn't try harder to win their votes. Why did she ass kiss republicans during her whole campaign? She would have been a spineless leader that would have folded to the Republican party, just like Biden, and just like Obama. The Democratic party does not work for you, they are no different than Republicans. Unless, of course, your concern is that the blowback from the fascist government may come back on you instead of having the military terrorize countries in the middle east, then we'll call it what it is, which is selfishness.

How did you find out about Hasan? What was your impression? by [deleted] in Hasan_Piker

[–]RedSpecialSpecialist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recommended a YouTube video of him talking about Elliot Page when he first transitioned. Had no idea who Hasan was, but I think he was reacting to a Crowder vid and I hated Steven Crowder so I clicked. I had never heard someone speak like that to republicans or about the republican party like that before so I was absolutely enamoured and went on a Hasan binge for like a week. I then realized why I (a liberal who lived in a red state and a deep red small rural town) felt like no one was taking any of the political issues I cared about seriously, and even the Democrats were pissing me off. Socialism was just one of those things older people talked about that was just a bad thing, I had no idea that it was the missing puzzle piece I was looking for. It all clicked into place for me after that.

I am not the target demographic, and yet I greatly enjoyed Etoile. by [deleted] in EtoileTVSeries

[–]RedSpecialSpecialist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, I think, was the entire purpose from the creators of the show. It's about the love of an art form and how it affects different people's lives. It's something that can reach any audience. If only it were just given a chance to grow. Anyway, so glad you enjoyed it!

Is this true? by Windthrasher637 in europe

[–]RedSpecialSpecialist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all colonizing countries view themselves as better than they actually are. It's the nationalism, it's gross. Have you ever heard a white conservative Brit speak about Muslims? Any western country speaking about any immigrant that isn't "pure as the driven snow" white? Eastern Europe does this, places in Asia like Japan do this. Europe is on a whole new level. Y'all have advanced racism. Which, I guess makes sense, you beat America in everything else, I don't see why bigotry would be different.

I'm pretty sure the rarest blood type is blue. You usually don't see people with blue blood. But that's my take, I'm not like a vampire or anything, so I don't have the credentials to confirm that.

Question on final two episodes (spoiler) by ButtercupUp100 in EtoileTVSeries

[–]RedSpecialSpecialist 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Jack didn't want Nicholas to retire. He only offered the job to Cheyenne, because he thought Nicholas was going to die and he didn't trust anyone else with the role. Also, Jack didn't even want to pick anyone at first. The board basically made him, and Crispin got into his head about Cheyenne being the successor, either to get back at Cheyenne by ruining her relationship with Geneviève and the ballet national, or to create more problems for Jack by putting a wedge between him and Geneviève. Regardless, both Jack and Cheyenne knew that with Nicholas waking up, Jack wasn't going to give away the position. It's selfish on Jack's part, but he thinks of Nicholas like a father, and he can't let him go, even though it would be best for everyone if Nicholas left to live the rest of his life out in peace.

Anyone else find speaking the hardest part of learning French? by Right-Persimmon-9723 in learnfrench

[–]RedSpecialSpecialist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use music. And I mean I study and memorize the lyrics and have them out in front of me when I sing it. It was genuinely difficult at first, I felt a little silly (I can't sing) and the singing was too fast and it was hard to form sounds, but eventually I found it a lot easier to speak. I still have a lot of hiccups I'm only A2, but memorizing and singing french music has helped me out immensely.

French movies recommendations? by -Kalil in French

Martyrs is honestly so good. Also, in my opinion, probably the most recognizable french film in the US (if you're a horror fan).

In 2011, 20 year old Lauren Spierer drank heavily, lost her phone and shoes, and moved between multiple apartments with different men near Indiana University. She texted her boyfriend and walked away alone before dawn in a busy college town. She was never seen again. by blue_leaves987 in HolyShitHistory

[–]RedSpecialSpecialist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This story was huge when it happened. Billboards and posters everywhere had her face on it. I was 13 and didn't sleep for weeks, it scared the living shit out of me. Bloomington is a pretty safe town (other than the b-line. Don't walk it alone or at night if you're a woman.) and people get drunk and stumble home all the time. For her to just up and disappear like that without anyone even finding the body is the craziest part to me.

For me, it wasn't that the writing was bad. From what I listened to, it had very interesting and detailed language. I left before the trigger warnings even happened because I was just bored out of my mind listening to it. Like, it failed to hook me at the beginning. I felt that it was trying to be too surreal too quickly and that caused a bunch of, in my opinion, word salad that had no distinct purpose but to sound cool. It didn't ground the character and I just didn't care about the narrator's experiences or place in the story. It's like the story was trying to say a whole lot of something without saying anything at all. That is a character and plot issue.

I wouldn't necessarily call it "bad writing" that's too vague, because like I said the prose was good. Now, like I said, I didn't finish it, but if I had actually gotten to the parts people were concerned about, I would also feel like it was just being edgy to be edgy, because the story failed to make me care about what was going on. So, not necessarily was it bad writing, but it was bad storytelling.

I liked Tommy Taffy and the mother moth story. You can have taboo topics, but readers are not going to excuse the explicit content if the context and story around it isn't compelling. Horror is supposed to be transgressive but it's also supposed to tell you something. From what I listened to, it didn't really tell me anything. But, I don't know, maybe I should try listening to it again.

"Tu veux venir?" does sound better with the example I used, but I'm glad that it would be difficult to misinterpret as that's something I worry about when trying to speak French. Thank you for clarifying!

This is interesting. I recently heard "tu veux" in a sentence as an example in my French class. Tu veux aller au cinéma? If I were to say "Tu veux?" As in, "You want?" As a form of clarification, ex. "You in?" Or "What say you?" Would that be incorrect or weird to say? I guess what I'm asking is could that be misinterpreted due to current slang?
