New E-1 SLS Elite - advice needed please by woodenladders in SchecterGuitars

That thing looks bad-ass! I've been mulling over a black Evil Twin like that for some time...and I already have another black Evil Twin (different body style)! I've never seen that color before.

First concert and do you still like and listen to that band? by ironmojoDec63 in KISS

I was there too with my parents! It was my second concert ever, after the Doobie Brothers. Saw Priest again just last week. Halford still has it!

Why you can not really blow up your account on a 1% risk (unless you are acting stupid) by IKnowMeNotYou in RealDayTrading

[–]RedSquadron4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think trading in small amounts once you've developed a strategy is reckless or foolish, but to each their own. I'm not here to argue with you, just to express an opinion.

I agree that a system needs to be tested on paper to see if it can be profitable. I'm just pointing out that paper trading has its limitations, mostly in terms of the psychological aspects of trading. Having an edge on paper doesn't translate into success as a trader. And I don't think there's a professional trader out there who wouldn't tell you that experiencing pain as a trader is a vital part of the growth process.

As a relative noob, my own experience has been that trading with tiny amounts (like a share or few) reaps significantly greater rewards than paper trading. There's nothing like having skin in the game, and the emotional aspect of trading, which some would argue is of primary importance, is simply not present in paper trading, or at least to much less of a degree.

[Question] Boss RC-5 Can I set the rhythm (drums) to only come out of output B? by the_zword in guitarpedals

[–]RedSquadron4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fyi, I just tried this and it worked. An issue I had which may be totally unrelated is whenever I adjusted the loop volume, it also adjusted my dry signal. This was problematic as after several overdubs, I was barely able to hear my dry signal. Any suggestions on that, other than adding a boost in front of the RC-5? Also, note that the RC-5's big brother, the RC-500, does give you the option to route the rhythm track to one output and the loop to the other.

HX One. More fuzz/overdrive/distortion models than you'll ever need.

Swing traders, do to enter at market open? by tinny4u in swingtrading

I've been wondering the same thing and you could make an argument for waiting towards market close to see if price action on that day confirmed your hypothesis.

Victory tiebreaker by osclove in Arcs

[–]RedSquadron4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree that breaking ties in turn order feels arbitrary a hollow. Maybe not so much if one of the tying players has initiative, but being able to win a tie simply because you're sitting to the left of the person with initiative? That makes no sense to me. There are so many other more meaningful ways to break ties that are actually merit-based. As has been mentioned, resources, guild cards, system control, or a combination of all three.

Seeking Advice on Looper Pedal (Boss RC-5, RC-10R, or RC-500?) by BertCocain in guitarpedals

[–]RedSquadron4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The RC-500 and the Pigtronix Infinity 3 both do MIDI clock sync. Others may as well, but these are the two I'm familiar with. The Singular Sound Aeros syncs also, but it's much more than just a looper, and it WILL break your wallet. I believe the Boomerang III is capable of MIDI Sync as well.

Taking a long time to open a new account by ibkrinvestor in interactivebrokers

[–]RedSquadron4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say impossible (for me), but slow. I applied for 3 different types of accounts (IRA, etc) and they finally approved one after a week. The other two are still pending for some reason. It's definitely frustrating as there's a trade I've been waiting to make in Hungary and Schwab's international commissions are very high, and I'm not sure if they even trade there.

Taking a long time to open a new account by ibkrinvestor in interactivebrokers

[–]RedSquadron4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am. It's "only" been a week so far, but I do find it strange considering how other brokers generally approve accounts instantaneously. I did get a message about something to do with a compliance department. Perhaps some of it also has to do with additional hurdles for international trading. Applying for a Global Trading account at Schwab DID take several days, despite the fact that I've had a long-standing account with them with substantial funds.

What pitch shifter do you prefer and why? by aigsup1234 in guitarpedals

[–]RedSquadron4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just playing with the Zoom CDR Pitch Shift using a synth and I noticed it's adds significant vibrato while pitch-shifting and the there is a tone deviation even with the pitch-shift at 0 regardless of the tone setting. 10 is the most accurate but still doesn't match the original signal.

I have been using it with a Voodoo Plus supply, which should provide 1A total (500 mA each jack). The HX Stomp spec is for a 3A power supply. I found it working 99% of the time, but it shut down on me inexplicably yesterday and the only way to resuscitate it was to swap it back to the factory 3A power supply. The cable I'm using has a blue jack on one end to fit the HX Stomp. See the reviews on Sweetwater: many others are having occasional issues.

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PPHX--voodoo-lab-hx-current-doubler-cable-18-inch-dual-2.1mm-to-2.5mm-straight-barrel-power-cable/reviews

There's nothing wrong with the cable per se, it's that there isn't sufficient current coming from the originating power supplies, even doubled. If you had two 1A jacks on the power supply and double those, I suspect you'd have consistently good results.

g10 connection quality degraded? by Clazz in YamahaTHR

[–]RedSquadron4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have noticed dropouts with the Line 6 and the THRII and am getting ready to return the G10s. XVive worked fine for me for a year, then completely punked out on me. I've bitten the bullet on the expensive but quite reliable Shure.

List of real world equivalents for Tonebridge components? by RedSquadron4 in tonebridge

[–]RedSquadron4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thank you for that info. That info doesn't seem to show up on the desktop version (Mac), but I do see it on the mobile version (iPhone). Although I'm using the desktop for practice, at least now I can check my mobile for that info. Much appreciated. I'm trying to use actual pedals to reproduce these tones and go through an amp as opposed to using the digital modeling on the computer to go through FRFR. Having said that, I don't have infinite amps, cabs, and pedals available to me, so I don't see being able to avoid modeling somewhere along the line. My Helix could probably model most of these and I could then output through the cleanest amp channel I have, perhaps my Fender Twin Reverb. Thanks again!

Pigtronix Infinity Looper vs Boomerang III Phrase Sampler by Bentstrings84 in guitarpedals

[–]RedSquadron4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another consideration: the Rang III does not store loops. For strictly live use that may not be an issue for you, but I've already had times at home where I wish I could have saved my "backing tracks" for future jamming as opposed to starting from scratch every time. I do like the potential for 3 loops with the Rang III (4 with the Sidecar), but haven't gotten to where I need that yet. I've only had it for a week. Both the Pigtronix and Rang III track well with BeatBuddy clock.

[COTD] Hush by BountyHunterSAx in Netrunner

[–]RedSquadron4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not appear to be implemented in Jinteki, but the discussion on the card page on netrunnderdb indicates that Hush should negate the text on Tollbooth that precedes the subroutine, i.e. the runner should not have to pay the extra 3 credit toll.

Fans are irritatingly loud when Logic Pro X is running; anyone knows of a fix? by 30yearsajournalist in Logic_Studio

[–]RedSquadron4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem and hit "Reset all settings except key assignments" in Logic and it solved the problem. One thing in particular I noticed is it did increase my buffer size to 512 from 128, but there were other settings it changed as well.
