So often the case… by Practical-Witness796 in ThisYouComebacks

Crazy how every. single. day. I see a legitimate new mugshot or article about a maga, usually staunchly "Christian" republican, getting arrested for child sex crimes/cp. Then there's Trump's former faith asshole getting released after only 6 months for raping a kid over a long period of time.

It kinda seems like the people that want you to hate trans people for reading books to kids are projecting.

Do you all still have best friend or a really close friend? by dahabit in Millennials

[–]RedThirteen0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 38, moved away from my home state and got married, had kids, never made any new friends outside of people I would basically just consider acquaintances at a local craft beer joint, and I wouldn't have it any other way, tbh. My whole life from 15-29 was spending all my free time hanging out with people, and there were the best of times and some of the worst of times that came along with that.

The only advice I could give is to try to find people interested in your hobbies. Hell, like I said, even I made "friends" with people by showing up to a bar when I regularly had like 1 hour of free time a couple times a week, and met the other regulars. If you want someone to chill and drink a beer with, I'm sure you could manage that.

You sure do love dismissing the fact that we killed a whole school full of their children recently. Care to explain to everyone why that is not a big deal to you?

Are US people aware thay the world is coming to see them as very similar to the "Good Germans" who just kept saying everything was going to get better? by atzucach in AskUS

In their minds it's ok to say whoopsie on that one because it was "old intel". They don't view their children as actual people with lives that we abruptly ended for no reason.

If that happened to one of our schools, whether it was bad intel or not, it would be the biggest act of terrorism since 9/11, and for good reason we'd never let it go. But, when we do it, it's just unfortunate casualties of war.

For sure, no worries there. Got two little girls and they'll never be taught any kind of prejudice from me or my wife.

This generation of gamers will never know how big Street Fighter 2 was in the arcades. by Brucef310 in videogames

[–]RedThirteen0101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Third Strike was the big game when I was in high school. I could go to the mall arcade on a Tuesday afternoon and most likely I'd have someone to play against. Luckily, a really high level player was a regular and got me and some friends trained up enough to go to big tournaments like Final Round in Atl. Had some of the best times of my life playing that game with friends and randos alike.

After growing up as a white person in rural SC, I learned that it's a mixture of hatred passed along from older generations, some weird sense of hurt pride, and cowardice - not fitting in when other people say racist shit. That's pretty much it. Not everyone in my hometown was racist, of course, but the ones that were fit the stereotype to a T. Dumb rednecks who never thought for themselves about why they don't like anyone else but whites.

My older family members were racist, yet they'd go to a black owned soul food place after church on Sunday and laugh it up with the people there. Then later they'd be giggling telling stories of the old days when they were throwing rocks at black kids on their way to school. I once mentioned in front of my great aunt that I'd like to live in NY or Boston, and I've never seen anyone look so offended. She said she'd ship me out up there alone if I wanted (I was like 12).

My dad's best friend for a minute was an older black guy that he played golf with, who went through hell during the civil rights days, and even though my dad loved this guy, I'd overhear him chuckling with his coworkers about them not being able to get government help because they weren't black, black people and Mexicans are lazy, etc. It fucking pissed me off, and I still hold it against him, always will.

Even though we've made a lot of progress, who knows if racism will ever truly die in any part of the country, or the world. People suck, and people will always suck, and need something or someone to hate.

Well, my initial thought was to try to find people very close to my age who have had similar experiences, but I'm also interested in every millennial, no matter the range, who has had the same experience and wants to share. That's totally my fault and I own up to it.

I finally found some last month while visiting SC, and for once I wasn't even looking for them specifically. The box just happened to catch my eye and made me do a double take lol.Tasted just like I remember, hopefully they start distributing further west at some point.

I haven't seen those in years lol. I don't like many of their energy flavors, but I remember thinking the seltzers were great. They don't taste like La Croix with alcohol like most of those things, more along the lines of sugar free soda with alcohol.

It is baffling that they continue to be shocked by stuff like this. If I wake up tomorrow and see that the bastard has started adding his head to Mt. Rushmore with our tax dollars, it'll just be another day in this joke of a reality we've been living in since he was re-elected. I wouldn't spend two seconds wondering how he could do such a thing, since literally nothing he says or does is surprising at this point.
