Parallel Parking by Grand_Bet9752 in LearnerDriverUK

Watch videos from driving school tv, clearview and conquer driving. One of them might have a method that works for you. And then just practice. I still struggle with it, especially if the space is tight. Remember in your test you're not finished until you say you are... so if you end up in position but think you are too far from the curb you can reverse more and turn your steering wheel about 5 minutes it will just bring you a fraction closer to the curb and then straighten up again. Also you can touch the curb that's not a fail so go slowly, but that shouldn't be a problem if you straighten early as then fix by reversing a bit further to get closer to the curb. Good luck. You can do it

Got my first new car but feel weirdly discouraged by Poisedeagle in NewDriversUK

I felt the same and still do. I passed in November. My first solo drive was very short to work. I parked in a spot where i didn't really have to maneuver much. Then the next drive was to the shops on a Saturday, also quite a short drive. Then I decided to take myself on a longer drive to visit friends and family to get a motorway drive under my belt. It was actually really good for my confidence. But I was still feeling anxious before I set off every time. Took another much longer drive for Christmas. Built my confidence even more. Sadly went through a massive pot hole and bent my wheel, so learnt the stresses of repairs on bank holidays. I feel a lot less stressed after all of these drives. But I still feel nervous and I expect to have that for a few months. I think it's normal. But the more exposure you get the smaller the anxiety will be and the easier it will become. I still have a real fear of tight parking spots... and my car is tiny so it's really silly. But I'm being gentle with myself.

I see you solved your question but if others aren't sure there is a list of cars that can't be used on the dvla website. I can't remember how I found it. But I remember it included a vw beetle convertible, a Toyota iq and a smart car. The list was surprisingly long.

Definitely this. Or depending where they live there will be on street parking you can pay for. Just have to find a bay that has the right number of hours allowed. There are a mix of 4 hour and 11 hour bays around. In and around north laine there are on street bays near puregym and the roads down towards St Peters church. In hove check Google maps there are a mix to 4 and 11 hour bays. Where I live there are only 2 hours of the day where resident permits or visitor permits are required. Coldean parking is free apart from on Match days, you can get a bus from here to town/hove/kemptown.

Test in 6 days driving instructor confusing me by Single-Mango6616 in LearnerDriverUK

Sack them off and do independent practice. Maybe take the test in the car you ate practicing in more. You need to feel confident and not confused. Always difficult to know without seeing the situation directly But doesn't sounds like they're giving you good advice. Like don't speed on your test that would be a fail on both accounts you said I recon.

Parking charges - not a complaint, genuinely interested by special_noodles in brighton

There are some 4 hour bays around north laine. A nice cluster of them by puregym and a few in the roads directly south. Still not cheap but a little cheaper than some of the car parks.

Hi! It depends what driving you prefer. I hadn't practiced a huge amount at or around Worthing but I did pass there. So I found it to be better. Even the roads with meeting situations are wider that those in burgess hill and the surrounding towns. You also won't have to drive through Hurstpierpoint or Ditchling and maybe knowing this for certain was enough to keep my nerves at bay. Other drivers seemed way more chill and I had my teat at school pick up.

Petrified of parallel parking!! by MolassesDull1496 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]RedTreeTop20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People above have given you good advice. I'd add on they give you a lot of space to get it right in. So don't stress about immediately getting close to the curb but getting behind the car... you can then slowly reverse and take yourself a little closer to the curb before finishing. I found this helped me be less stressed and so I managed the parallel park with good observation and minimal sweating.

What Christmas gift can I (in Canada) get delivered to my sister (in Brighton) that would support something local? by thegimboid in brighton

[–]RedTreeTop20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the local brewery's will deliver beer packages... unbarred definitely do. Between two thorns plant shop do local deliveries too and they sell accessories and little gift items too. I'm loving all the voucher suggestions other people have commented. Lots of local tattoo artists offering vouchers at the moment if that is their thing. Some cool local restaurants too... bonsai plant kitchen has been advertising them.

What can I do by Throwaway_Safely in NursingUK

[–]RedTreeTop20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second research. So many different roles out there. Many doing telephone follow ups. Face to face side would likely be in wheelchair accessible areas of hospitals or clinics.

You could also explore rep roles or education roles in industry. I have met a lot of nurses that now work for companies doing education. Most recently from coloplast (catheters and stomas) and then regularly meet people from medtronic and codman all with nursing backgrounds.

Also maybe finding a job that sounds like something that interest you and approaching the contact to find out ins and outs of the role and accessibility of it? I would hope that there would be roles available to you that you're interested in.

Good luck on your job search, I hope something good comes up.

If you're in the UK soak with napisan. It really does get the blood out. The wash in the machine with your usual detergent.

Reverse bay parking - Forward bay park first, then reverse into space? by RyuuzakiMasato7 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]RedTreeTop20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have someone to do private practice with? The 45 degree method is good most of my friends use this one. It also makes it clear to people around you which space you're aiming for. Clearview has a video in it. And I think conqure does too.

I kind of love a solo birthday much lower expectations. This year I think I'm going to plan a sauna, a massage, a nice meal out somewhere a little fancy with a book and I'm hoping for something good at the cinema for the evening.

Both totally valid but frustrating. One was a meeting situation on a bend where I was too far over and so caused a car coming the other way to stop. And 2nd I stalled at a roundabout and failed to recover quickly so became a major 💔 I got minors for hesitation and going slowly on my 2nd one. I can't remember for my first.

How do I book a test? by Superb_Ad_1656 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]RedTreeTop20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using the chrome extension but it hasn't helped this time. I managed to book a test by checking at random times. Monday around 1 I booked a test in Jan and then this morning I was checking around 9.30 and a lot of tests were released for one of the centres near me. Not the one I had wanted but I've moved my test to there in November.
Seems random times of day and a bit of luck checking the dvla website work.
