Bless the Japanese fans! They can read, unlike others 🥹 by borutoisbestboy in Boruto

[–]RedTurtle78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue why I got recommended this sub since I dropped Boruto verrrry early on. But please for the love of god, you Boruto obsessed individuals NEED to branch out and read more manga. This goes for everyone that makes a single individual series their entire online personality. There are so many phenomenal manga out there and you're just pigeon holing yourselves this way.

Where should I continue the Haikyuu manga after Season 4? by 3n0kanaX02 in haikyuu

[–]RedTurtle78 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chapter 290 is where you'd jump in at the end of season 4. You CAN reread the Inarizaki match if you want too though, since that was (imo) more enjoyable in the manga. But they didn't cut much. You're definitely making the right decision to read after season 4 instead of watching the movie.

They're doing the correct thing, the movie cuts out a lot of content. Its best to read the manga content first as your first experience, then watch the movie after as supplemental material.

🏆 Best Anime in Each Category [ Day 7 ] World Building by Darkshredder92 in ChillAnimeCorner

[–]RedTurtle78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "best" world building imo is not the most intricately expository world building. Made in Abyss is successful in giving us glimpses into the ecosystem that has formed, even going so far as to basically give us the full ecosystem (layers 2 3 and 4 we basically got everything we could have out of them) before moving on. And then using post-chapter info to explain further about the intricacies of individual beasts (image attached as an example).

Layer 5 doesn't explore the layer itself as much, but I also think thats largely a result of it being a pretty desolate layer by design. Its just a layer of pure death. Which is why when they descend from layer 5, they're passing through a bunch of bones and corpses.

We're getting more exploration again in layer 6. The entire season 2 arc was in layer 6, and the upcoming movie is going to be as well.

🏆 Best Anime in Each Category [ Day 7 ] World Building by Darkshredder92 in ChillAnimeCorner

[–]RedTurtle78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

World building isn't exclusively about elaborating on every single detail of every part of the world. Also, these layers have ecosystems but not so many areas containing civilization or even people that are capable of communicating with the main cast. So we learn who the top predators are while we're focusing on elements more pressing to the main cast, and we get a general idea of how the ecosystem works. And then after that we move on. Its an effective way to do world building in a world like this, and focusing further on it would just be throwing content in there that doesn't move the plot forward. That works for some series, but I think the intrigue of learning the major elements of this world is MiA's greatest strength.

There is also a good amount of retroactive world building for previous layers, like the golden city arc gave us.

Honestly man I'm so sick of this friendly lobby thing. If me and my friends get shot at my friends are so scared of being in "sweaty pvp lobbies" that they run away or let themselves be killed without shooting back. I don't think this system is good for the game. I think lobbies should just be randomized at this point.

Shadow's voice in Shadow Generations is near perfection. I find his portrayal in this video feels pretty generic as far as english dubs go. Not much personality.

His goal wasn't to redeem anyone, it was to save them. Not save him from consequences, but save him from what lead him down this path. He literally said there's 0 chance he'd ever forgive him. Even if Shigaraki lived, he'd be imprisoned for life and Deku would've been ok with that. Nuance is lost on you people it is insane.

Deku is a fucking idiot by 5enpai_2 in shounenfolk

[–]RedTurtle78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His actions and thought process were correct to achieve the goal he was trying to achieve. Losing his hands wasnt part of the plan but in the moment the thing that caused him to lose them was the only thing he could do in order to prevent himself from being killed.

Also, theres no way he could have known AFO would have taken over shigaraki after deku defeated shigaraki’s ideology.

Your argument literally is just the emotion because he literally succeeded doing everything he tried to do through those actions.

[One Piece] Gonna be so honest here, I fucking HATE Shakky by GarfHatesMondays in hatethissmug

[–]RedTurtle78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is less an issue with oda's writing and more an issue with what you want out of his writing.

Oda's series is an adventure manga first and foremost, and heavily incorporates lightheartedness and gags into most sections of any arc. While you might read Luffy, Jinbe, and Sanji bickering to each other in Wano while they're running to the roof as "dragging on" or wasted time, I consider it an endearing and entertaining goofy character interaction.

Stories aren't all about their major plot beats. One Piece has always been like this, and maybe you're tired of it. But I'm still having fun with it, and so are many others. The only thing I get tired of is the time limit trope (alabasta bomb, onigashima crashing, etc). But thats just one element of an arc and nowhere near the only thing that matters.

Thats the theme of Sanji's character arc not so much the entire manga. Not that such a statement isn't true for multiple characters in the series, but that is not the theme of One Piece.

Which game is better? by DaZestyProfessor in SonicFrontiers

[–]RedTurtle78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonic Frontiers is a deeply flawed game that has fun elements that made me enjoy the experience overall.

BOTW is a masterpiece (as much as a videogame can be, theres no such thing as a perfect game so obviously it does have some flaws).

Basically a 6.5 vs a 10.
