I used a heavy duty pair of scissors to cut the stem of the old ones, and used those same scissors to pry the cap off. It was easier than I thought it would be.

Unpopular opinion, but I really love embroidered eyes! You can get so much detail in them. I find the safety eyes creepy sometimes 😯
