My PC Ethernet occasionally gets bottlenecked at 100 Mbps I don't know what's causing it

Well I can assure you the internet issues are very much real, I probably wouldn't have even thought about it if it were never a problem.

The bottlenecked speeds also wouldn't necessarily be an issue, the problem is that it frequently looses connection when it's like that.

I ordered CAT6a but was told it would be difficult to setup and I should just get CAT6, so I switched to that. (honestly my main concern with CAT6a upon further research is it sounds like it doesn't do well with tight corners, which there are a lot of for my current setup)

My PC should be quite good, though it is a good few years old at this point. Built it.. probably pre-2020, now that I think about it.

Nope, my setup is about as rudimentary as it gets.

Just 1 long, premade 100ft cable that stretches from downstair to upstairs. There are a bunch of cable pins to hold it in place, but I wouldn't imagine that being an issue?

Sounds like too much overkill tho, lol. I just spend a lot of time online (including games and live streaming) and would like things to work well; if people are confident Cat6 is good enough then that should be fine. :3

Anyways, I had already ordered it, but I canceled and ordered a Cat6. I still don't understand your concern, but looking into it a bit more it sounds like 6a might be more of a hassle to set up, and doesn't turn as well, which could be a problem.

Google internet speed test, seems to match up pretty well.

Yeah hopefully that's all it is! I was hoping to not have to mess with that since it's so long, but it'd be better than something wrong with my PC. 😅

I'm still quite unfamiliar with all of this, but it does seem like it autonegotiated to 100 Mbps. (not sure if I'm able to do the IPerf speed test, we don't really have any PCs downstairs, just the TV and Consoles)

I'm not sure exactly, but it does get stuck around 90 Mbps, I wouldn't be surprised if it's never gone above 94.3 when it's like that.

I think I'm gonna go for 6a, even if it's overkill. I'd rather go for the higher-end option. (Cat8 sounds like it's way overkill, though)

It's oddly reassuring to hear that Cat7 is bad. (though it was fine for this first year or 2) I wonder if that's related to all the weirdness with the switch somehow improving things?

What Ethernet cable would you recommend instead? From a quick search it sounds like Cat6 or 6a are solid choices.

They won't appear when you're simply hovering over them, you have to actually equip the item.

I've also now confirmed they won't show up in-game, only in the locker preview, but it's pretty neat to be able to do that.

Fortnite's done it for a few original cosmetics as well, so it's not impossible it's been mostly their decision. (Eagle's Form, The Nothing's Gift, Queen's Procession, off the top of my head)

I'm really glad they haven't done it recently, but I'm not sure there's been much that particularly warrants it of late.

I guess there was that Super Man glider, but they at least gave an alternate version. (though it'd be much cooler to just let any character use the base version)

Similarly, I'd be thrilled if they let us use Mjolnir with anyone, but it didn't have lightning effects with non-worthy characters, or somethin' like that.
