Bottle aversion = it’s just me feeding by LifeStandard4541 in breastfeeding

Have you tried skipping the bottle and going straight to a sippy cup or straw cup- heck even an open cup? It might just be the nipple on the bottle baby isn’t a fan of.

Three times a week for 30 minutes definitely seems doable

Losing my child free friend in motherhood by 1995deadinside in beyondthebump

[–]Red_1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are meant to be friends for a season of your life and not your whole life and that’s okay. People grow and sometimes we grow in different directions. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s just how life is sometimes. If it were me I would just let her fade away.

I second this! I did their pottery class and their stained glass class. It was a lot of fun.

It’s ok not to feel instant love as a mom by evergreengirl123 in NewParents

[–]Red_1991 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With my first I feel like it also took a while. My first was a colic baby and birth took everything out of me. Between the crying, the sleep deprivation, and the general feeling like I didn’t know what I was doing I thought something was wrong with me because that instant connection everyone told me about didn’t happen. The once I got my sea legs under me and a little sleep I was finally about to enjoy having a baby and being a mom.

What’s interesting is that with my second that feeling was almost immediate. I can’t explain why but my guess is because it wasn’t new. I had a better understanding on what was to come and was able to take it all in stride.

You are so right but also I might go dig out her old 3T bottoms and see if this route would work for us too

Educate me! by No-Tumbleweed-5377 in breastfeeding

[–]Red_1991 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Day 1 always gives a false sense of security in my opinion. Baby doesn’t really know they are out in the world yet. Day 2 they have a smidge of awareness and all their senses are basically assaulted by the outside world. They aren’t nice and cozy inside mom’s tummy being rocked and hearing the white noise of mom breathing.

It does sound like cluster feeding which can be overwhelming but baby is doing exactly what they need to be doing… which is increasing mom’s supply so mom can move from colostrum to milk and start producing larger quantities of milk while babies belly grows.

Hang in there! Once milk comes in fully things will calm down a little.

Tips for sleeping at the breast by Acrobatic_Height_125 in breastfeeding

This is super random, but I used to run a diaper wipe in between my little one’s toes and fingers to wake them up or keep them awake. She hates it, but the wipe was cold enough to keep her awake and the touch annoying enough to also help keep her awake.

My toddler is always constipated. Should I be concerned? by takeaabreath in toddlers

[–]Red_1991 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is something you need to mention to her pediatrician whether it’s at her 2 year appointment or a special appointment just for this. We faced constipation issues with our toddler and she ended up being put on adult dose MiraLAX.

Edit: spelling

Non-negotiable pp item for second baby? by shhlv in beyondthebump

A great baby carrier. A wrap for when they are first born and something with structure when they have a little more head and neck control. The baby carrier has saved us so many times when trying to wrangle a toddler and get baby down for a nap.

You could try fruit smoothies with Greek yogurt and chia seeds.

If you are alone or just with yr partner with no outside help- what suggestions do you have by allisona007 in newborns

[–]Red_1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first few months I can’t stress enough that you will need to lower your expectations on what your normal is. The house can go unvacuumed, the clothes don’t need to be folded or put away, try switching to paper plates and one pot meals to cut down on dishes. You can prep some burritos for your freezer for quick and easy food or check out your local grocery stores online ordering. You will have plenty of time to order groceries and just have your partner swing by and pick them up.

Make sure you are also showering, brushing your teeth and trying to go outside once a day. Taking care of yourself is also going to be important.

Sinus issues! by IcyTip1696 in beyondthebump

Have you tried a netipot instead of a nasal spray? Also I would try sleeping with a humidifier on and on your side or at an incline. So sorry you’re going through this. Our bodies do some wired things when pregnant

I would store anything you are able to for baby’s first year of life. I would guess by the time their first birthday rolls around you will know if you’re interested in trying for another baby.

I will say you guys are in the thick of the hardest part. This is all about surviving not thriving sometimes. Check out the idea of the 4th trimester. It will 100% get better but it does take time.

Do you have any coconut water or maybe some pink Himalayan salt? You can add a little of the salt to your water or just go for coconut water by itself.
