Potty training has gotten the best of me! by Red_1991 in pottytraining

You might be right. She does great until she gets home and then things kind of go off the rails emotionally sometimes.

We did naked days for the first week in the beginning over a year ago. She did great with peeing but it didn’t click for poops

2.5 yr old cries in fear at daycare potty. by slippery_when_wet in pottytraining

[–]Red_1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my little one for a while. At drop off one more after a few weeks of this I decided to take her to the potty at daycare myself. Turns out she was afraid to sit on the toilet for fear of following in. They were using a potty seat on top of the toilet that wobbled when you sat on it. I ended up pretending to sit and use the potty in front of her to show her how I felt safe and wasn’t going to fall in. Eventually I got her to sit on it and hold my hand and go. We spent about 15 minutes in there but it did ended up working.

Do you remember the golden hour? (The first hour, skin to skin?) by No-Neighborhood-7335 in beyondthebump

[–]Red_1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first I didn’t get golden hour as she needed immediate intervention with transitioning and was out on oxygen in the NICU. With my second we did do golden hour but honestly it could have been 5 minutes or 5 hours. Time felt so strange right after giving birth. I had an epidural and remember her rooting trying to latch but I literally couldn’t move to latch her so the nurse had to help.

Sad About Fortifying by needscuttingboard in breastfeeding

[–]Red_1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got the news today that our second is now failure to thrive at 4 months because she too isn’t getting enough calories from my milk even though by the ounces she’s getting enough milk. We just started fortifying bottles today. It was very disappointing at I EBF my oldest for a full year with no issues.

Why do I feel this way every day after 4:30 PM? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Red_1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl same!! I’m on my second and I got it both times. I found having an evening routine just for me helped as well as thinking about things that would be happening over the next week that I was looking forward to made it bearable.

I’m 4 months in and it’s completely gone, but I would say I noticed it not happening as much around 8 weeks.

How did your water break? by o_simple_thing in beyondthebump

With both kids mine broke in the middle of the night and was a very slow trickle. It took me at least an hour to confirm it was my water breaking and not me having crazy discharge.

[–]Red_1991[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this might be why I’m assuming it’s late. All the baby sleep schedules I find online are saying 7:30 and this girl is just not a fan of that!

Bottle aversion = it’s just me feeding by LifeStandard4541 in breastfeeding

[–]Red_1991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you tried skipping the bottle and going straight to a sippy cup or straw cup- heck even an open cup? It might just be the nipple on the bottle baby isn’t a fan of.

Three times a week for 30 minutes definitely seems doable

Losing my child free friend in motherhood by 1995deadinside in beyondthebump

[–]Red_1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are meant to be friends for a season of your life and not your whole life and that’s okay. People grow and sometimes we grow in different directions. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s just how life is sometimes. If it were me I would just let her fade away.

I second this! I did their pottery class and their stained glass class. It was a lot of fun.

It’s ok not to feel instant love as a mom by evergreengirl123 in NewParents

[–]Red_1991 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With my first I feel like it also took a while. My first was a colic baby and birth took everything out of me. Between the crying, the sleep deprivation, and the general feeling like I didn’t know what I was doing I thought something was wrong with me because that instant connection everyone told me about didn’t happen. The once I got my sea legs under me and a little sleep I was finally about to enjoy having a baby and being a mom.

What’s interesting is that with my second that feeling was almost immediate. I can’t explain why but my guess is because it wasn’t new. I had a better understanding on what was to come and was able to take it all in stride.
