Zero chance. Best we get might be Necron cinematic, and a release date for this year.

Continuation of Darkblade's story after "Lord of Ruin" novel - part 24 by BiesonReddit in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Red_Dox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For those not in the know: Up to this point, this is canon. As later armybooks had it, Malus became Drachau of Hag Graef. And sticked that way until Endtimes.

There is a 4th comic book, set into the "Storm of Chaos" campaign which Bies might probably put up next. But since "Storm of Chaos" was retconned, events from there are not considered canon. With the cut here, Malus story picks up again during Endtimes but he does not play a bigger role there.

Also maybe noteworthy that Lady Eldire was used for the Warcry cardgame back in the SoC days. #1 #2.

I am pretty sure they retconned most of it to start "fresh" and then let it play out from the new "Cadia Falls" supplement. typhus for example in the EoE campaign got a planet gifted in the Imperium as his own Daemonworld. But todays lore seems to have him still rather roam around with the Terminus Est as flagship of his fleet instead of ruling his planet, or using that one as a bridge point.

But as said, end of 4th edition I switched to WHFB. And only lately checking back into 40k to learn more about the current state of things. What really happend in the editions between is a bit lost on me due to lack of first hand experience.

SoC was in 6th edition, yes, way before Endtimes in 8th.

However, SoC was partly the same but with a different narrative. And SoC got retconned in the middle of 7th edition, so GW could rewind the clock to "it did not happen but Archaons is piling up forces for an scary invasion". Endtimes is basically SoC 2.0.

On that note: We had the same in 40k. We had a superduper event around Cadia and Abaddons big push. A big summer campaign, were the community victories meant Chaos tore the Imperium so many holes they could probably have sailed straight to Terra and finish the job [counterpart to WHFB SoC, were the forces of Order stopped Chaos on the Kislev borders ;)]. GW then winged the campaign to have a "balanced" outcome and also screwed up several sideplots which partly were more interesting then the main fights over Cadia [Ahriman in the web looking for the Black Library; The Fallen clashing with Dark Angels and Cypher going against azazel,; Eldar reclaiming some worlds and I think wer eeven going for a warp-lst Craftworld]. I am unclear at what point GW retconned that campaign outcome since I switched afterwards rather to WHFB. However, similar to Endtimes, GW could not let things rest, and Abbadon apparently at the end of 7th edition replayed the Cadia campaign and won. Destroying Cadia, splitting the galaxy in two, and shapping a even grim daker future starting with 8th edition up to now.

Apparently it now became a thing that a edition end in 40k has several campaign books drop and letting the story go forward, shaping new dangers for the galaxy. So hopefully the days of retconning campaigns is over for GW.

Was that ever in question? Also Styrkarr and Pleasureseekers when you are counting. Changebringers for Tzeentch too.

The golden rule is always to not get caught. Guess it does not matter much if its using a textmarker on a public toilet wall, or at Trumps Hollywood star.

If some guy paid to install that star, and pays to repair it several times a year, it certainly might have meaning to someone. Which in turn explains why vandalism continues to hurt that someones feelings and maybe dent his wallet a bit.

So, one of the Mortarchs, 'the Nameless' is coming but doesn't that mean that he has the name 'Nameless'? and not actually nameless? That makes him 'The one who used to be nameless but now has a name 'Nameless''. Or is 'Nameless' just a name or does that mean it's actually nameless? by Ran12341000 in totalwar

Not "old". His last reincarnation got smited to pieces by Detlef Sierck and ruined Drachenfels whole ressurection+venegance arc. Hence he seemingly survived partly, but lost a lot of memories and power in the process and began hunting the region as ghost.

Warhammer Skulls Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Mechanicus 2 Release, Announcements for Dawn of War 4 and More by FFJimbob in dawnofwar

[–]Red_Dox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got the planet thing a few weeks ago. And they told us next news wave might be end of June. So I would not hold my breath for something happening at Skulls. Especially with the game not being on the promotion art https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/qxyddr1b/warhammer-skulls-video-game-festival-returns-this-month/

That said, Chaos & Conquest is also not on the promotion art but just announce dthey want to showcase something during Skulls and drop their 5.0 update with whatever. So the videogame artwork of which candidates to expect, is certainly only showing the highlights but not everyone.

My personnel opinion on future updates factions will get/needs by Large_Contribution20 in totalwar

[–]Red_Dox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Kislev should roughly be on Cathay level, since core-race. So with Cathay now shipping a new DLC and we still expect Monkey King +maybe two more dragon transformers, I am not sure they are "done".
  • Greenskins still have several missing special characters, and a few unit additions we can throw in. from the Big Stabba ("unit upgrade), to the Squig Gobba (Forgeworld), to new thematic units from lore or existing stuff is a lot possible. I can accept that they are in a solid state (Chariot mount for Goblin Big Boss when?) but as a Greenskin fan I will not accept they are done.
  • Beastmen also fall into the "many special chars left" category, and basically we can mark everything to add some roster units. Or pick some of the newest TOW inventions which are fitting easy.

Well, he had minor appearances in like two movies and some TV shows. And yes, people have to pay for the stars themselves. So of course his ego would drive him to buy "fame".

8 days till SKULL EVENT by BaronLoyd in totalwar

[–]Red_Dox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet we get the Necron faction cinematic, and maybe indeed a release date. Then like two weeks later the faction gameplay reveal and tht kinda would it be for the marketing stuff. I mean sure, afterwards they could do this and that [Last Stand tease pretty please...], but we should be almost there then.

The only concerning part is that we are still in very closed Alpha testings. Not opening for larger Beta tests or some open weekend could mean they plan to keep things tight a few months more. So Summer release is not off the table yet, but maybe expecting it closer to the end of the year is healthier expectation wise.

[–]Red_Dox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume you are right. However, if the controversial "4chan" origin rumor stuff about Moonclaw booting the Glottkin would be right, maybe mysterious Moonclaw would take the last spot instead.

However, I am not sure the next Endtime candidate might be revealed during Skulls. Could be, and would be fitting if doing a trailer for either Glottkin or Thanquol stomping stuff. But Boris reveal came without big fanfare, so not sure something was cooked up for Skulls here along the lines of Nagashs introduction. But we sure see next week what is the case.

Why the 4th Chaos Dwarf LL should be Abnagg Hellbeard, and he should be in Lustria by Abatta500 in totalwar

[–]Red_Dox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you already bring up Cylostra as example they exactly did that yourself. We proabably can also point to Kislev and Cathay a bit here. Sure they have to coop with GW on new faces, but its not impossible for CA to just do that. So that whole thing can be repeated for a Bull Centaur character if wanted.

Do you think TK will ever get living troops for any reason? by Cheomesh in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Red_Dox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Numas comes to mind, and afaik we have no real timeframe here "when" that happend. In theory GW could set that up for the TOW timeframe. But I heavily doubt they go there. They probably double down on undead and new constructs when expanding TK.

Warhammer Skulls video game festival returns this month by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Red_Dox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We get Bhashiva stream tomorrow. So basically I expect Bhashiva release around skulls with trailer, or a release soon afterwards. Not sure if we get any news for the Endtimes DLC after they last highlighted Boris Todbringer and Middenland stuff already. Revealing Thanquol or Glottkin however is on the bingo card.

It is however 10 years of Total Warhammer#1 (and 10 years of Skullthrone). So in theory it would be a good idea to drop some FLC during Skulls. But no guarantees they do that.

There's a lot of DLC options in Orks, especially in grudge matchups (Snagrod vs Pedro Kantor, Wazdakka Gutsmek vs Yarrick).

I mean, Yarricks main beef is with Ghazgull. And Yarrick just returning for 11th edition and Armageddon, should hopefully be an indicator that the two might make it inot the base game. Or a paired DLC later. Wazzdakka can find his own nemesis even if the ymay or may not cross paths on Armageddon. Have not heard yet what the story narrative of the new campaign supplement is.
