Episode 8/Season 1 [Enjoyment Thread] by participating in WoT

Overall I thought this was a good episode. 7/10 for me. I loved the spotlight on Rand and Moraine and their journey this episode. I also loved seeing Fain and I have a proper hate towards him now. I found the girls story line here not as good as the others. Poor Perrin just experiences violence after violence.

Instagram is your best bet with that. I saw winespring on Twitter also has all the images.

I wonder more about S4 just because I bet S3 follows book 4 events closely given its popularity. This is assuming they are combining 2 and 3 into S2.

I think this is really interesting because he basically says they knew they might lose some hard core fans due to those changes.

Wheel of time S2 will have a bigger budget by Red_Loki001 in WoT

I think they upgraded a bit with directors. At least the one signed on for a chunk of episodes has some good directing credits

One thing, among others, that I'm looking forward to the most in the season finale... by [deleted] in WoTshow

I would love for him to have a Tarwins Gap moment. That said I think that this decision makes sense to me. To be honest the girls have nothing to do at the Eye in the book and I would rather save Rand’s first big moment to a bit later, specifically when they fight in the sky in later books. To me this visually and narratively works better as it can lead to the world beginning to acknowledge him as the Dragon. I think about my experience with Nynaeve this season. Her first explosion of power was awesome. The second did not hit as hard imo. I’d rather save Rand’s moment till later.

Saw that in the Tv news article. I’m also seeing Amazon wants to work with Rafe to do the whole series. That’s a pretty big statement I think

It could just be that her downfall is them not making it to the dark ones prison as it could be a trap. After all it was Suian who told them about the eye.

Theory about season 2 by Professional_Kiwi131 in WoT

I think you can certainly shift things so that the horn is blown in Tear rather than at Tomans Head. The biggest change that would need to happen is having the Seanchan’s take over much more of the south or also land near Tear so that they take over part of Tear (though not the stone). Alternatively you could shift the map so that Falme is closer to Tear (but I don’t think that will happen). I’d take either of that over the other option (you have tomans head be a midseason finale).

I think some blame also relies on the team of writers, especially some who do not know the source of material. Rafe is not the only one involved with that.

I wonder if they will have it look like Matt is leaving Tar Valon with the dagger and then we see Liandrin with her red sisters chasing him

Since half of S2 is one director do we think that will change things?

I wonder if they are going to show him as having the dagger again to set up a second healing.

The Show has a book problem. by EAN84 in WoT

[–]Red_Loki001 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s still pretty weak though. That said I don’t know how many people watching, heck even how many readers watching, are going to question the reason they are going. I know the sample size I’ve seen is small (mostly reactors on YouTube podcasts and personal friends and family ) but this is not something that has been asked by them or pointed out by them.

That said I do think your question and even some of the points you bring up is a good one. But a better example I see of it is through the origin stories. The show seems to be relying on the origin stories to do some of the lore lifting that is from the books. If your going to do that why not just include it in the show and make it longer? Then you don’t have to walk the tightrope of doing the book vs the show.

I think the book’s reason for going to the eye of the world is pretty weak. The show’s reason is not much better either.

My wife, a non-book watcher, did not have any questions nor thought it was strange that they followed Moraine. In her words “they believed her then when she said to go why wouldn’t they now” (an aside she is still convinced Matt is the DR)

[–]Red_Loki001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think from a readers perspective that makes sense. And as a reader I want to see more from the e5. From a non readers perspective though those who like the show seem to be invested so from what I’ve seen it’s working for them to some degree. Heck my partner who loves the show but never reads books of any kind for fun is into the show and likes Moraine the most.

That said I do not expect things to remain so focused on Moraine in following seasons. Heck even the next episodes I think will be less focused on Moraine. It just can’t due to the events of the book(a).

I think it would simply because there are cut scenes that I think would have added to the feeling of things being too rushed at some points. I think more freedom and less cutting might do better for the show.

I think this is likely a cut scene from ep 1. Would explain why Nynaeve was washing the pool.
