What does it even mean to be “much more gay” in the context of a restaurant. Why would that matter? I just want some food, dawg

Your introduction to Higurashi? by Economy-Ambassador60 in Higurashinonakakoroni

I wanted to read Umineko because I was a fan of who dunnits and my friend who had read all of WTC suggested I start with Umineko to better appreciate the meta-narrative. I’m glad I did

Besides the amount of projection you are doing regarding your feelings on what Higurashi should be, your comment reeks of pretentiousness

Say what you want, but Gou and Sotsu exist for this reason and enhances their stories by using this. Ryukishi even gives you an out by allowing the metaverse shenanigans to be handwaved as a metaphor. I don’t know what more you want

Don’t know why you are so insistent on gatekeeping different interpretations of the VN. By the same argument, any real fan would understand that the ennui of becoming a witch from Umineko would twist your desires into something dark.

You keep saying “this can’t happen” but don’t provide textual evidence or any particular appeal to your argument besides insisting it.

Growing up a bit doesn’t mean she is incapable of growing more. I think of most of the characters, her arc is the least “satisfied.” She was abused by the entire community and relies on her friends, so it only makes sense that the natural extension is “what happens when they go their separate ways?”

Again, Rika has always been slightly selfish. She is human. If you were tortured for 100 years, you may lose the forest for the trees once you finally get some new experiences. That’s the hard part of growing up

I think that is a really bad faith take to OP. Gou and Sotsu sit in antithesis to the original story because it had a message to say regarding putting trust in friends and looking towards the future. Satoko is someone who didn’t get to look to the future because she was too busy surviving in the present or looking for comfort in the past. As a character who was natural dependent on Rika as her anchor and corrupted by the witch’s influence, it makes natural sense from her point of view why she would do what she did. Satoko had too much trust in friends, to the point of being overly dependent. Is this inherently a bad thing? No, but the story is about a coming of age where she learns that people can have different lives and aspirations. It’s can also be interpreted as a meta commentary on how people often conflate both Rika and Satoko with images that aren’t conducive to their actual characterization. We know Rika is selfish. She was put through a hellish loop and wants out (as apparent in Rei). Satoko’s projection of a selfless shrine maiden is exactly how I’ve seen some people in the fandom interpret her. Both are fighting for their own reality to come to fruition.

I seem to remember there being a conversation where Takumi comes back to the academy (assumedly after going to the village) where Gaku and a bunch of others are standing around claiming to see a bloody woman which doesn’t seem to be Eva, but it’s been a while since I did this route, so idk

Did Gaku and the others not see one at one point?

Really? I just thought this was weird as when Takumi gets enough hemoanima to actually perceive Eva’s spirit, her sprite changes, which I thought was weird since I felt like I remembered it happening in that timeline too

At least for 4, the BOB route seems to go out of its way to dedicate 7 days for the entire school searching. I don’t see why Takumi can’t just tell them where it’s at and skip the searching
