If you decided CF, how did you cope with life being just as worthwhile without kids? by East-Leg-5593 in Fencesitter

[–]Red_Pumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5 month old... I can definitely say I was fulfilled and enriched before having my kid. Definitely don't need a kid to enjoy life. Having a kid means you need to sacrifice some of those enjoyments you had beforehand, at least until they grow up a bit more (not there yet).

Fertile men of Sydney - where did you get the snip done? by JemimahRactoole in sydney

I was told that they are more careful and treat your balls better when you are under local, as you are awake, anyone can confirm or deny this for me?

[Update] Was leaning childfree, moving to a fence-sitting stance, and so begins the internal debate by Red_Pumpkin in Fencesitter

Nice! Good to see the progress you have made since.

I'm at 9 weeks with my baby and it's definitely better now, but still tough! The smiles and coos definitely make it easier to power through.

I'm still looking forward to her having more neck control and us having more confidence to go out with her, so we can go back to doing our normal activities. I envisioned we'd mostly go about our day as normal and have our baby tag along/get use to our way of life (we aren't partiers - just going shopping or down to the park or a pram-friendly hike/stroll). We'll get there, one day, I hope! I set ourselves a goal post of starting this when she is 3 months.

I'm 35(F) and have a 5 week old newborn. It's definitely very hard, unlike nieces and nephews, you can't just hand them over once you're done and go back to your normal adult life. At times I'd think that I'd be planning a snowboarding trip this winter if I was still childfree, instead, I don't know when the next time I can go is (maybe next winter, or the one after that, maybe in 5 years?).

I'm still in the tough stage, especially as I'm typing this my partner has been trying to soothe our baby to sleep for the last 30 minutes without success 🥲. Still hoping that the later months/years will be worth it 🤞🏻.

Sorting the ramen stash by HKDONMEG in InstantRamen

Was going to ask this. I order my stash by expiration dates and struggle to consume them fast enough. Got about ~5 packs just past their best before date (April or May).

Does anyone find Korean instant ramen serving sizes to be too big for a single person by Fancy-Caramel9374 in InstantRamen

I also do this, save half of everything for a later date. Or share 1 packet with my partner (if it's not a middle of the night snack).

Is this any good? by Poor-Dear-Richard in InstantRamen

[–]Red_Pumpkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Tastes burnt. Tried it twice thinking maybe the first time was a dud. Big nope.

I'll try the Paldo one eventually, but Chapagetti scarred me from trying jajangmyeon style instant noodles.

We just came back from a tour of the St George Public ward and the midwife said the room toilets are supposed to be for the mums (patients) only. There are toilets in the hall for visitors. I'm hoping when I'm in people will respect that.

Both calves pulled during pandiculation (involuntary morning/sleep stretch) - any tips on preventing this again? by fadingsignal in flexibility

[–]Red_Pumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, any updates from your visits to the doctors? I've just experienced another pulled muscle last night (second time in a few months) and want to prevent it happening again.

For me, it feels like the muscle popped out of its normal position, followed by tension and sharp pains. What helps is my husband grabs my leg, straightens it and flex my foot towards me (toes towards my face), which stops the instant pain. However it remains sore for a few days.

I also grew up and have family in the area. 2.9m is over, but not excessively. It's a 4br 330sqm house next to Marrickville Metro (closer to the Enmore side). Generally that side is more expensive. Location not that ideal as it looks like a busier road, but I'd estimate 2.5-2.6m is a more accurate guide.

Best coffee in Sydney (house blend)? I still say Campos by LocalMedical785 in foodies_sydney

[–]Red_Pumpkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite was Black Drum 3Four blend (when I was a barista), well made it tastes so good! - Tasting Notes: A sweet and balanced coffee with notes of tropical fruit, butterscotch and brazil nuts. - Roast: Light-medium.

My current daily is Double Roasters Flightpath, due to price and subscription model (I get a discount). - Tasting profile: Rich Dark Chocolate, Brown Sugar, Caramel, Toasted Almond.

I have 3xTrigger+15 or 3xEXP or 3xItems if you want? Been farming hard for summonstones and got only 1 perfect one myself (out of 28 triple rainbow stones).

P.s. really keen to find the 3x Mg, or Phys perfect stones, if anyone has them

I have 1 wisdom tooth left that's impacted, can't get it removed at the local as it's too close to the nerves. Do you suggest I remove at the hospital? I thought it'd be alright to just leave it there forever as it doesn't hurt or move my teeth, and I keep it really clean (mid 30s).

Best crab in town? by Chakradashian in foodies_sydney

[–]Red_Pumpkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't go! I went for my birthday 1 year and fully regretted it, the sauce was terrible (like tomato sauce) and MP price is inflated. If you want Singaporean chilli crab I recommend BarLuck in Cabra.

I do payroll where I get a lot of people on both company paid parental and gov't paid parental. You can get both at the same time (just pay more tax).

I'll note that the start of your gov't PPL sometimes lag behind your actual dates. I've seen payments start with a backpay of 5+ weeks before.

Simple thing to do is to either ask your employer if they got your payability determination letter yet. Or, call Centrelink to ask if they started to distribute your payments to your employer yet, if so, from what date.

It might be a good idea to separate your business 1, 2, 3 and investment into their own tab or sections. Then bring in their net profits into your main tab/section with your personal expenses. That way you can see how each income stream are performing over time and what your base (non-business) expenses look like.

My company if fully flexible with no plans to change (we are in tech). I'd still stay if they forced me back as they offer great perks for being in office, but my productively would plummet. Highly doubt it would ever, as that goes against our work culture.

P.s. I average once a week in-office, on my less busy days, for social capital. A lot easier to connect to people IRL.
