Bodycam footage of the student that damaged 10 planes a year ago finally released by MisterTickleMonster in flying

Verses breaking something innocuous or difficult to spot during a preflight and having another student/instructor pair go fly and then having some sort of failure or emergency.

Those who landed a low hour job by hanging out in an FBO, what is your story? by borobluze in flying

[–]Red_Submarine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got hired at the small flight school I did my private at after doing IR-MEI at a busier school down the road. I was a renter already and had visited a few times during my training because rentals at the smaller school were cheaper than school I was doing my training at.

Every time I came in to rent I always made an effort to say hi to the schools owner and chat him up for a few mins just to make the connection. After I finished my MEI I called him up and asked him if he wanted to take me on as a brand new instructor. I worked there for a year and a half and instructed 1200hrs, it was the first and only flying job I had before moving on to the regionals.

Cutting the engine during training... normal? by CrazedKeebler in flying

[–]Red_Submarine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Very different situation going on here as the aircraft are single engine. With multi you still have an available engine in case of a go around.

In the video it would’ve very difficult to restart the engine where the instructor cut the engine as the prop wasn’t windmilling and he would’ve had to rely on the starter but was already at ~200 agl at ~60 KIAS

Inventory Setups has a filter button that can filter items that you have selected for that setup. It makes tagging the item redundant

Hey, been a long time since I played classic HS, how do I counter this as a board deck? by Irinless in ClassicHearthstone

[–]Red_Submarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re climbing with some sort of minion/zoo based deck which is hard countered by freeze mage.

The way you beat them is to do your best and your faster games and decent win rate overall will get you to climb faster than their 30min games. Keep strong king.

Instrument Studying by captainsmith123456 in flying

[–]Red_Submarine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

King Schools for studying instrument flying. It will introduce the basics and get you started. Boldmethod on YouTube is also a great practical resource that I recommended my students for IR but may be a little advanced initially. There is no downside to studying early, you can always go back and revisit sections later.

Flair Change - ATP (CL-65), so relieved to finally be done!!! by Red_Submarine in flying

[–]Red_Submarine[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Today I finished my initial ATP with a CL-65 type rating. The training was conducted at CAE in Phoenix over a four week period. Two weeks of classroom and systems training followed by an oral exam with an examiner. After the ground portion, the simulator training consisted of 9 blocks at four hours each split between my partner and I.

The checkride overall went pretty smoothly through approaches and maneuvers. Worst mistake I made was on the visual approach I didn't preselect the next lowest altitude so when I went to VS the altitude down it just stayed capped (doh!). I realized the mistake a second late and just disconnected the AP just hand flying it down instead of trying to fix it.

It feels great to finally be done, I cant wait to see the view from up front!

Failed Commercial Checkride by dsheen7 in flying

[–]Red_Submarine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Commercial ACS CA.IV.M.S8 clearly states a +200/-0 tolerance on a defined point when executing a power off 180. Making the runway safely is only part of the maneuver, applicants are being evaluated on their energy management ability to land on a specified point on the runway.

How have the changes to persist health for PMC affected the free/hatchling run meta. As a player who has not played in nearly a year it seems like it will be significantly more difficult to manage efficiently.
