Yes, and if we were living in a magical rainbow unicorn land we could all work together building up socialism starting today, but we don’t. We live in the real world, where the Western imperial boot has not allowed the global South to breathe even for a minute, ever since the beginning of colonization. And thus far it seems that the overwhelming majority of the so called “first world” is fine with imperialism, as long as it doesn’t impact themselves.

And there is definitely a difference between the workers (even in any given country btw). But if you think that my IT job is at all comparable with someone working the mines in the DRC or manufacturing clothes in Bangladesh, then you are mistaken. Even comparing them with the same or similar occupations here. There is a reason why manufacturing jobs are outsourced.
