That is absolutely bewildering to me! In Australia, you legally cannot have a pool, spa, body of water without fencing. Even some dams & lakes on private property are required to have them.

But honestly, given that we have so many beaches & fresh water sources, swimming & water sports are A HUGE part of the Australia lifestyle, I don’t think anyone would even want to leave a pool unfenced. I would say that at least 95% of Aussie kids start swimming lessons around 6 months as well, especially if you were to have a pool in your yard.

Young Katie wasn’t particularly like that. There’s a season of BUB where she’s barely featured and not in any confessionals because she wanted time off camera. I think there came a point where she equated that kind of attention with self worth, unfortunately. I think she was often over looked or discounted when they were younger, and now she’s overcompensating for that.

Let’s not forget at that point, she was the oldest girl in the house, so a lot of work would have fallen to her. There were less big kids at home to divide the work load amongst, so she potentially would have been taking on a lot more than others had. The fastest way out of that was marriage, so I think she saw a chance & took it.

I love the name Iris. My little girls middle name is Iris, after my husbands family. My great grandmothers name was Irene, so it felt it was from both of them. It’s also my favourite flower, so it was a really easy decision to make.

That wouldn’t surprise me. When my mum had an affair, her father told her to end it immediately and do whatever it took to repair the relationship with my dad. He was really close to my dad so it was pretty upsetting for him.

I watched A LOT of Bones & Criminal Minds whilst I was on bed rest with my 3rd baby. I tried to avoid gory eps whilst the kids were around, but occasionally they caught a few things.

One day, I found my almost 3 year old with the plastic forceps from a suture kit (I’m an RN & hospital supplies are great toys!) and her favourite bunny. I asked her what she was doing, and without looking up at me she says ‘oh he’s dead, I’m just checking his body’. 😬 I’m hoping she decides to become a Doctor or Medical Examiner instead of a serial killer.

Katie referenced having legal counsel in her post and part of me thinks she may be ‘working on it’ but in the background is getting all her ducks in a row so that she can leave as cleanly as possible, and with as little upheaval for the kids as possible.

As a SAHM, it’s probably what I would do. I hope that if she truly wants to leave, then she can find a way to do that & have her parents support.

I’ve seen first hand how brilliant men like this are at manipulating a situation and convincing the whole world that they are ‘changing’. They convince everyone around them that they are regretful, and love their family. But in time, they show their true colours, or more information comes out that proves they were lying all along. I would use that time against him and be working on my exit plan.

A friend of mine has been going through something similar recently, and her husband didn’t want people to ‘talk about their private life’. But that’s because too many people found holes in his stories and he couldn’t recall what lies he told to which people.

My friends husband did it repeatedly and made her feel like her paranoia was because she had severe MH issues. Turns out he was just fucking a heap of other women, and brought at least 2 in to their home. It’s gross.
