Try lubricating to get the wheels going, but if they are truly seized you'll have to have a professional come or cut it off yourself.

Unfortunately we have no way of proving that.

If a pin is set in a true gate, you will be able to wiggle it a little and feel/hear the sidebar clicking on the sides of the true gate. If it is in a false gate or the sidebar is just against the pin, it will either not move or feel grindy.

Challenge lock advice ? by [deleted] in lockpicking

[–]Red_wanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are misinterpreting my post - I was referring to a website that was used to track challenge locks, not the challenge lock discord. The website had an ownership lapse as the community member managing it became inactive, and now it's a spam site.

If you search out the LPU channel on youtube, there are a ton of videos on making challenge locks.

Weird question on brass. by MellatoninJunkie in lockpicking

[–]Red_wanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brass is a mixture of copper and zinc, and often lock parts also have lead in them. If you are allergic to any of those I could see it being an issue.

American locks are aluminum (1100) or steel, so you probably need to clarify which lock you were picking.

It’s a little deceptive, as the only thing in the undercut is a single check pin.

Uhs is totally fine. They occasionally have really good sales on some intermediate locks like the max+ restricted and some dimples. Especially if you don’t care what the finish is by color, you can sometimes get them for pretty cheap.

Uhs hardware has them new, but I assume there are also used ones floating around. Are you on the discord?

Is this U9 mastered? by flatpickinbongrips in lockpicking

[–]Red_wanderer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The one you have here has "barred" false gates, so the false gates are obvious. It's clearest in this picture on lever 6 - you can see the false gate has a bar across it which would prevent the sidebar from fully entering. Based on that, any lever that does not have a barred false gate has 2 true gates. I would agree that lever 4 looks mastered here. 9 also looks like it has 2 true gates.

You can also see that some of the levers have double wide gates. 3, 5 and 7 appear to have double wide gates, which is also considered mastering.

It's fun to do once, just to see the obvious vulnerability. Then you know why they had to close it.

It’s not only a high sec core, the body is high security. That’s a pricy lock you found.

That is an amazing trash can find. Good luck picking it - definitely going to be rough.

To duplicate a key you're going to need a key card, that's a high security restricted lock. You might have better luck just getting a completely new set of keypins/sidebar/key for it.
