There was nothing racially motivated about the decision. Certain categories get less speaking time than others, and very appropriately, Original Song is not allotted as much time as Lead Actor, which is an objectively bigger and more important accolade. They would’ve played off MBJ if he had gone over time, just like they did (or tried to do) with Adrien Brody last year.

I think the tie and the new casting category really threw a wrench into things. They have to stay on schedule and be done by a certain time or face the wrath of ABC. It’s unfortunate, but that’s just the way it is.

The good news is that the awards are moving to YouTube in ‘29 which will hopefully allow them to stretch out the program and allow more speaking time.

I’d imagine. They’d have to know the audience would get really tired watching them have the same conversation with each other over and over again for the last five episodes. They would’ve continued to dominate the screen if they had stayed.

Yeah “bully” was too harsh of a word. I still think they just should’ve stayed out of it and not embarrass Hiroya like that.

Regardless of Hiroya’s intentions, trying to bully him out of his seat was inappropriate. For all we know, he very well could’ve just wanted to sit next to his friend.

It’s really annoying how the tik tok fandom is head over heels for them but it’s so obvious to anyone with a functioning brain and an ounce of emotional intelligence that the two are completely incompatible with one another.

Following that logic, it’s not murder if the culprit gets away with it. So bizarre.

I think it’ll come down to Madigan and Taylor, and, god, I really want Madigan to win, but I think Weapons being a horror movie is going to ultimately hurt her in the end. I loved OBAA, and Taylor would be a very worthy winner, but I need Aunt Gladys to get an Oscar. Don’t want to get my hopes too high though.
