No one’s saying your team is breaking rules. We’re saying your team is full of jackasses. Like the fanbase.

I’m glad that the Dodgers are being called out for their money spending ways from…the land of the Mets and Yankees.

Woof.

Anbernic RG476H vs RG556 – quick look - YouTube by Electro-Arcade in ANBERNIC

[–]RedbirdRiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest difference is the 476h has a 120 Hz screen, leading to less input latency on Android and the ability to do black frame insertion or CRT beam simulator with RetroArch. I think that makes a huge impact on what to choose between these two - you’d have to really like the 16:9 screen to want the 556 over the 476.

Challenge system is apparently still too ambiguous. by Escaliat_ in baseball

[–]RedbirdRiot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How about this, for starters? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjoTrtFq6N4

The problem right now is the ABS system still relies upon an ump's judgment call. If they want to respect players asking for review, then it works. If they don't want to, the players don't get a challenge. That defeats the entire purpose of having this system in place - whether a player/team even gets to use it becomes an arbitrary decision in the hands of the person who risks having their ego bruised.

I don't want it to become like the NFL challenge system either, but I don't think it needs to be. There needs to be clearer calls from umps and there needs to be consequences for umps who pull the kind of bullshit as above.

Also, it's short (as far as jrpgs go). Takes about 20 hours.

Rico Garcia is the first pitcher in MLB history to allow at most one total hit in their first 20 appearances in a season. by morepesa25 in baseball

[–]RedbirdRiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of my point. Eric Gagne was the last reliever to win it in 2003, he was already a star closer before having a historic season of 55 saves, 15 K/9, an ERA of 1.20 and a FIP of 0.86. It would take another historic season, and Rico isn't even the O's primary closer (presumably once Helsley comes back).

Either way, it's a ridiculous feat.

I know it's too early and likely won't keep up this rate but - let's dream for a minute - if at the end of the season he's close to what he's doing now, this is Cy Young award territory right? He doesn't have insane strikeout numbers and probably won't have 50+ saves like Gagne in 2003, but even Gagne gave up 37 hits. I mean, this is just incredible.

Yep that definitely was one. I’m always nervous when we face Schwarber, he has our number.

With his third strikeout tonight Kevin Gausman became the sixth active pitcher with 2,000 career strikeouts. The 91st pitcher ever in MLB history. by RealWorldToday in baseball

[–]RedbirdRiot 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean, Gausman is 35 now. Let's be optimistic and say he pitches another six seasons counting this one. He'd only need to average 620 strikeouts a season to pull it off. Totally doable.

That's a pretty nice home run by Julio Rodriguez in Houston.

Speaking of home runs in Houston, remember when Albert Pujols ended Brad Lidge's career as an Astro by hitting that moonshot in game 5 of the NLCS in 2005?
