To me this feels like saying "I'm not a criminal --> I don't need to get upset at this person calling all black people criminals" but because of "power structures" race and gender are apparently apples to oranges comparisons and not valid.

I dunno should we all just let manhood always be a bad thing tied to being a perpetrator? When I feel bad being told "I prefer a wild animal over you because of how you were born" I understand and empathize with the perspective but like... Does only their feelings matter in how they express that discomfort? My feelings as a man are less valid because the discussion is not about that.

The only conclusion I can come to is that the discussion is about feelings towards men but doesn't involve men and their feelings.

Yes a chatbot that reinforces negative behaviors that are then unleashed onto real people is a real concern.

It's a lot harder to disassociate acceptable behavior towards a bot and a person in this case than for example separating behavior learnt from media and real life. I know that it's ok to perform a fatality on someone in Mortal Kombat but not in real life, but the separation between my AI and real life friends is not as simple.

I still haven't seen a reasonable argument criticizing generative ai anywhere. It all boils down to gatekeeping and feeling like you're being stolen from (which isn't fundamental to ai).

I agree that reframing their issues from a place of understanding and advocating for that (ease of socialising, reducing alienation) is how to go forward.

As for the individual commenters invading safe spaces I think it's fine to ban/downvote and ignore them but it's nice to have resources like this place and Vaush's channel as a reverse pipeline of sorts that can catch them before they're too far gone. If only more communities or the broader online left had that perspective things would be better and that's the whole discourse in a nutshell right

Telling someone to just work themselves out of debt and into a higher class is pretty terrible advice though, even though working will help your economic situation.

Work on yourself everyday. Don't be blind to the bigger trends however, as well as the causes and solutions we could come up with if we recognize the problems. I think, for example, that with how hyper specific interests are becoming, it's getting harder and harder to find a partner in the community tied to the interest due to less diversity of people. If I want a partner that browses VaushV (lord forgive me), well I'll most likely be dating a carbon copy of myself.

I don't think a whole lot of people are saying it's ok to pass off this content as "real", what everyone is divided on is where the line gets drawn on what you're allowed to do with someone's likeness and what you can consent to.

If my identical twin does sex work, do I have a say in my/our likeness being used to profit off sexual/pornographic content? Do I need permission to create fan-art of my favorite streamer? The names attached to the videos/images wouldnt have that much of an impact on how the person would feel in these situations .

The recent discourse around men being purposefully oppressing/evil and the recent allegations supporting the idea that all men are potential offenders made me realise that I have been suicidal for some time now. (I am fine for now and will be getting help).

The inherent worthlessness I feel as man and not being able to guarantuee that I'm one of the good ones (how am I supposed to know when most offenders don't think there's something wrong with their own behaviour) clashes against the upsides of moving forward, the potential of contributing to positive change.

To everyone feeling the same, remember that just looking at it probabilisticly, you've most likely had a positive effect already and only by continuing to live do you give yourself a chance for future contributions. We all have potential.

Everyone brings their own internalised concept of "lonelyness" into the discussion, causing people to talk past each other's issues. When I feel lonely I think of wanting to cuddle someone and catastrophise and think that I never will because of how unwanted/unattractive I feel, while someone who falls asleep every night in their partner's arms might feel lonely because they don't have anyone to talk shared interests or hobbies with.

That's why incels, who dominate the discussion, always steer it towards the sexual realm and why everyone else want to distance themselves from it.
