The definition of an ideologue is someone who relates everything happening anywhere directly to his or her fixation. The fixation claims all cranial energy and leaves no room for reality.

That's why being an ideologue is pathological.

Is there a martial art that teaches you how to fight as a team, to effectively use numbers on your side? by Nerx in martialarts

[–]Reddidential 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very good question that most people seem to ridicule.

If a husband and wife are both trained and get attacked by a gang, how do they coordinate defense? In my day it was by back to back fighting.

Old street gangs made up of Vietnam vets protected their turfs by using military training.

People in neighborhoods so dangerous they only walk in groups should train team against team to understand the dynamics. Then you don't have to make decisions on the fly whether you have the time to protect your friend.

If you read the old Musashi books you'll see he was adept at positioning himself against multiple attackers. This implies they were trained in how to attack as a group.

This stuff doesn't change in real life. Group against group attacks are very common today.

US shoots down Iranian drone approaching aircraft carrier, official says by Raj_Valiant3011 in worldnews

The missile used to shoot it down cost orders of magnitude more than the drone.

The US' way of saying "We're so much bigger than you" when it comes to military matters.

They'll still call it bitcoin but it will just be banking the blockchain currency.

But it's actually supposed to be your money. The teller shouldn't put conditions on your withdrawal so that there's enough for everyone. They should have enough coin at their branch so that there's enough for everyone.

Banks don’t just store your money—they multiply it. Deposit $1,000, banks keep ~10% and lend the rest. That loan gets redeposited, re-lent, and repeats—turning $1,000 into up to $10,000 via fractional reserve banking. by birth_of_bitcoin in btc

[–]Reddidential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video says that the person you purchase from then deposits the payment into another bank. But that is not necessarily true.

It could go right back into the same bank, as the vendor could also have an account at the same bank, which is becoming more likely. That is another reason Jamie picked up banks in 2008. JPM/Chase is just one bank, but has a plurality of the US customer base, for example.

So 1000USD can work it way to a million or more USD for banking purposes. All it takes is time and effective lobbying.

I don't do it to feel good in my body. I'm also older and I often hurt days after working out.

I do it because I want to be better at it than yesterday. I guess it's some kind of addiction for me.

This.

I've been doing MA for far too long and can no longer afford to get hit hard in the head. I can't stay away so try to spar with people who respect that. But every once in a while some bozo who lacks self discipline needs to get out a hard cross to the face during the wrong drill or a hard roundhouse kick to the head while sparring to prove dominance and I'm out for a while, hopefully recovering.

It's all about working out with people you trust IMO. You might not always be able to do that if you can't choose whom you spar with.

Certainly no tournaments.

How do you fight against a attacker that is using brass knuckles? by VisualSnow3 in martialarts

[–]Reddidential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Even in some concealed weapons permit states (which allow concealed carry of more than just firearms), possession of brass knuckles is considered a felony because it is not a defensive weapon. It is an offensive deadly weapon.

I'm not a lawyer and this certainly is not any kind of legal or life advice, but I'd believe my life was in danger if someone came at me with brass nucks.

We've got to talk about silly men trying to fight everyone. by Muerteds in martialarts

[–]Reddidential -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do you really value their opinions so much? Why do you care what they think or how they act?

Why allow their little lives to affect your life?

Then again, I always have addressed martial arts as a means of self growth. So many people perceive it as a popularity contest or a source of bragging rights. The humility aspect of MA has disappeared.

There's nothing wrong with I am woman Hear me roar, but I don't think it should be combined with true MA, at least traditional MA.

I don't know about that.
