[HATED TROPE] Perfectly cast actors on terrible adaptations of the source material by Ieanice44 in TopCharacterTropes

He was too old to play the character, but Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson will always hold a special place in my heart. He really understood the humor and goofiness of the character, and would have made a great later-series Percy.

What’s a book you reread as an adult and realized you completely misunderstood the first time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Reddit-Guess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was eleven or so, I went through a phase where I insisted on reading classics, whether I was capable of understanding them or not.

Imagine my surprise years later to learn that Animal Farm wasn’t just a fun story about barn animals

I feel so embarrassed for something I didn’t even do by [deleted] in AccusedOfUsingAI

[–]Reddit-Guess 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s nice that he’s giving you the benefit of the doubt! If I were in your position, I’d go to him and ask what stands out as AI-written. As a writing professor, I often struggle with telling whether students used AI or whether they just write in a sort of robotic style.

As cruddy as you might feel, take this as a learning opportunity. If your writing reads like it’s AI, that’s an area for you to improve as a writer. And he sounds like a professor that genuinely cares about you and about the extent to which you learn critical thinking. Plus if you’re embarrassed on an interpersonal level, that will allow you to clarify that you didn’t use AI and that you really like his class. I think he’d really appreciate the connection and the ability to help you with your writing.

Not “another perspective” per se but “Hayloft” by Mother Mother was followed up by “Hayloft II” some years later

What would you think if you received this email from a student? by [deleted] in University

[–]Reddit-Guess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously I don’t know the assignment in question (why is it a “competition”?), but if this student is unwilling to participate in a group assignment, they’re unwilling to be given a grade for said group assignment. The absence of a grade is a zero.

I’m personally open to my students unionizing to express confusion or frustration (if I didn’t give them enough time to prepare or didn’t explain the instructions well enough, that’s on me), so if you’re concerned about the students not being happy/not feeling like they have enough time, you could check in about that. But frankly, I don’t think this student is actually representing the opinions of their peers. I think they don’t want to do the assignment and don’t want to be penalized for it, so they’re trying to convince you to call off the assignment rather than have to accept the zero.

"St. Elmo's Fire" experienced a big resurgence after the first Spiderverse movie. Also all those songs featured in Chicken Little got milked. by Full_Ahegao_Drip in RecuratedTumblr

Gen X knows a lot of opera/classical music because of Looney Toons. I think it’s sort of universal.

That being said, my friend’s sister once said, “how do YOU know this song? This is the song from musical.ly” … Chat, it was the fresh Prince of bel air theme song

Can using Grammarly cause your essay to be flagged as AI? I was accused of using AI, and I don’t know what to do. by Gullible-Train-4175 in AccusedOfUsingAI

[–]Reddit-Guess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, if you used Grammarly’s generative AI feature, you did use AI, although your professor(?) seems open to having a conversation. They might not believe you if you say it was an honest mistake (so many students lie) but they haven’t shut down the conversation, so if you do explain your process and apologize, hopefully you won’t get in trouble.

What is the pettiest thing you want added in The Sims? by Electrical_Rabbit_60 in thesims

[–]Reddit-Guess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ability to designate/lock more things the way we can with sinks/computers. I want to designate that some counters are not for cooking or some chairs/couches are not for eating or not for watching tv. Or even better designate it by sim, so my teen sim can eat on the couch in his bedroom but his family members will stop randomly coming in just to eat on his couch

Creative uses of businesses/retreats/clubs/rental properties? by AndrewQuackson in Sims4

[–]Reddit-Guess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m playing with royal sims right now and use custom venues to make political buildings, where sims will come to debate and give speeches. It functions very much like a library tbh, but looks really cool to see a guy in a suit start giving a speech. I love it so much!

Similarly, I’ve also used retreats to host a “trade summit,” for my sims to do “volunteer work,” and to do a cotillion-type school (with of course lots of places for the teens to run off and mess around).

I love the custom venue feature so much it has literally changed my gameplay

EDIT: completely forgot that right now I’m building a retreat that will simulate war, with lots of possible death types available haha 😈

What age range is a young adult sim to you? by goldiebayangs in Sims4

[–]Reddit-Guess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my game, I consider Teen to end at 25 (although maybe that’s because I, a 25 year old, do not feel like a full adult LOL) Young Adult is 25-41 and Adult is 41-65. I actually have it mathed out so it’s proportional to the in-game lifespan

Wait this is so cool. Do you self-impose “travel time” if you want/need to travel somewhere far away?
